I was a five year breast cancer survivor. I was diagnosed 2 months ago with inoperable stage 4 lung cancer. My family and friends are the ones helping me cope with the fact that even though they gave me only 14 months to live, I am going to survive this one also, and my goal is to one day ring the bell once again.
This song hits home for me. I was diagnosed with brain cancer back in October of 2023 and had to have a major surgery and on 01-26-2024 I was told it's back. And this song brings so hope every time I here it
Fight it, fight it, fight it. My wife is fighting also, and we're hoping to win. I don't know your anguish, but I can relate as a husband.
As a singer, I would love to sing this to her, but I cant get through it without my voice breaking.

This song hits me differently now.. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in January 2023. I ended up needing a full hysterectomy. They said they caught it early and I needed no further treatment. Now I have to get tested for breast cancer (mammogram and an MRI with contrast) every year for the rest of my life because of family history. My husband played this song right after I told him about my cancer. He stood by me and even"forced" me to do the surgery on his birthday because the next date was 2 months later. I wanted to wait but he said he wasn't risking losing me only because the first opening was his birthday. After my surgery the doctor told my husband if I would have waited it would have been stage one by June and it was already rapidly growing in stage 0. I was only supposed to have my left ovary removed but once my doctor got in the tumor had grown past my fallopian tube into my uterus about to grow on my right fallopian tube. I told my husband if it is worse than what they think it is just remove everything so that's what he told my doctor. My husband saved my life. I love him so much. And going through cancer I know he loves me way more then I ever thought possible.
My Aunt fought breast cancer for 2 long years, and six surgeries later they told her she was cancer free. We had a huge party to celebrate. Not even two weeks later she was having pains in her abdomen, and the doctors told us she had a rapid growing tumor on the part that feeds her liver and nothing could be done. It quickly spread to her shoulder and leg. Not even a month later we found out it spread to her spine, and the doctor told us to say our goodbyes she wouldn't be with us much longer. She was unresponsive, and I held her hand for four hours the next night, and she passed away almost 3 weeks ago. I miss her so much, and this song is what is helping me get through it. Martina McBride is truly an amazing woman for creating this song. R.I.P. Aunt Sara!!!!
My girlfriend of 9 years fought cancer for 7 years. Chemo and radiation to shrink the tumor for surgery and them more chemo and radiation to make sure they killed it. She fought like a champ and I was fortunate enough to be by her side to love her and do what I could to assure her she would beat this dreaded disease. She id have one year free and clear until it metastasized to her liver. She spent the next 2-1/2 years fighting only to lose her battle last July 21 2015. I felt blessed to be able to be with her and love her. I since have thought of her daily and as you all know we miss them. This song came out at the right time and I had an opportunity to be with her and help love her through it. Thank you and God bless you Martina for helping us all get through it.

I am so so sorry. My current girlfriend has cancer in her family; both sides...I am absolutely terrified that she will get it too and she also has depression and bipolar disorder. Even reading this scared me. God bless you for telling your story and for being there for her and for loving her till the end. You made her life wonderful.

I found out in November of 2011 I had stage 3 kidney cancer and every time I heard this beautiful song I just fell into tears. I'm now cancer free by the grace of God and my amazing doctor, but to this day this song still brings me to tears. I love my family for all their support, understand, compassion, and most of all their love and friendship.
My wife found out she had cancer on our first sons birthday and she was 9 months pregnant with our 2nd boy... She was 3 years cancer free, but it took a toll on our family and she wanted to separate about the time it came back.... She passed last month and now I have to raise our boys 5 & 7 on my own... She tried all the options she had to stay alive for her kids, but it was too much, she passed away before her 30th birthday I now try to find peace and understanding in songs such as this.........

My mother has been battling stage 3 pancreatic cancer for almost a year now she had surgery in January to remove the tumor but sadly two more returned and are growing at a very fast rate and is now stage four and terminal! Chemo didn’t help it actually hit her nervous system she can no longer walk and passes out frequently due to the side effects from the chemo! This month they told her she has about six months left this came as a huge shock to our family she fought so hard for so long we thought she was going to beat this! After her last diagnosis my life has been completely shattered I try and stay strong for her and I feel completely blessed that I have this opportunity that most aren’t given to live every day to the fullest with her until God decides to take her away from this pain, but inside I feel like I’ve already lost her, this song is what helps me get through, this song is my song for my best friend and my HERO!!
My mom fought like hell to beat the cancer but the angels called her home on April 4th 2015. They say it gets easier with time but it hasn’t gotten easier. I miss her everyday. She was my best friend my confident and one of the hardest working Mom ever I knew. I know she didn’t want to go so soon but heaven needed her more. Hopefully she is dancing in the sky and happy. I loved her for the 1 1/2 years that she did everything she could to stay here and watch her kids and grandkids grow up. I wanted her to walk me down the aisle of my wedding day but hopefully she will be there standing with me on that day.

The first time I heard this song it dropped me to my knees. I had just found out I had cancer. Im in my second year of being cancer free and I still cant make it through this song without chocking up and getting tears. This song is so powerful. Im thankful for my wonderful husband Jim Yocom and my kids who loved me through it.

My mom is a survivor! This song reminds me of her and it always makes me cry. My mom is my rock! I speak to her daily. When she was diagnosed, she decided to sew a Winnie the Pooh for my sister & I. I kept mine until it literally fell apart then I found the pattern and bought it just to feel closer to her. She paid $.99 cents for the pattern and my gma had it but my cousin dumped it. I paid $30 for mine. I even let my son sleep with it when he was born. I took it with me everywhere, including my first trip to Vegas & Disneyland. Wish I still kept the pieces. My husband was so jealous of my bear.

You were snatched from my arms by the burden that cancer is when I was only 12 but for all I know, it could've been 30+ years cause our history together goes way back. Lost my best friend on 1/10/19... The only woman I have literally loved my entire life passed away in my arms, unexpectedly, as we were walking to the car. We had been through so much together the last 13 years, caring for my father for 10 of those while Alzheimers ravaged his kind and loving soul. It somehow strengthened the mother-son bond even more than we both thought possible. The tears still roll hot and the void she left in my heart and the lives of those who knew her will be ever empty and vast.... The price we pay for love. Life rolls on and we recently talked about "that" day when we would have to carry on without the other.... The only way to honor her memory properly is to live fully, love like there's no tomorrow, cherish those around me and know when to cash out when I'm ahead! Love you much, Ma....
my mom is 42 now and she was diagnosed with Cervical cancer stage 4. There are only 4 stages in this cancer btw. She had a biopsy done and then she had to full hysterectomy done. They pulled out a fibroid the size of a half size watermelon. She was very lucky to live. i love my mom with all my heart because she has had cancer two times in her whole life. the doctors told her that since she was in stage 4 it was a 90 percent chance they couldnt get it out. I thank God every day that they did. ILY
We helped my brother fight his cancer for five years. He succumbed at home in 2000 and will forever be 36. In 2013, I did everything for my Daddy in his last weeks and was holding both of his hands when he left. Cancer took him at 68. Two years later, we lost my beloved dog to cancer. Now, at the age of 72, my Momma had three large biopsy samples taken from a large mass deep in her breast tissue. If that weren't enough, my 26 year old daughter has a large lump around her thyroid that is being removed December 9th. We have no idea as to what it is qt this point. I am breaking, Lord, but I need to stay strong to love them through whatever comes our way.
my mom was 38 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in november 2010. in april of 2011, she was completley cleared and every day i thank God for saving her. last April, around her 1 year anniversary of being cleaer of cancer, i sang this song for her at my school talent show. I was only 12, but i got up in front of the entire school, parents, and teachers, and sang to my mom. i believe about half the people in the audience cried that day. I lost my pet ferret to cancer, she was 6 and on her last legs, i wanted to spend her last days together but cancer came and we had to put her down. My pet ferret kissed me last and no one else after.

This song speaks right to me. I was diagnosed in 2015 with stage 2 breast cancer. After treatments and surgeries I finally thought I was in the clear. Found out 4/25 my cancer is back. I am 38 with 3 kids of my own ages 3,7 and 17.

My mom was just diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Was given less then 6 months yesterday. She’s only 58. It doesn’t seem fair! I’ve been with her to ever doctors appointment, every hospital stay, every single thing she needs I’ve been there! My Aunt is fighting lung cancer right now. When the Chemo took her hair I shaved my 2 foot long hair off to let her know that I'm gonna love her through it. She's not alone in this fight, I'm in her corner for this battle.

i have family members that are battling cancer and this song always brings tears to my eyes.this reminds me not just of my family but others as well. in my school we are constantly doing fundraisers for research and i take my spare time away willingly to make ribbons out of rexlace to sell them anytime i can. i got introuble once and i don't care anymore of my record, there are people out there who are more important. for me life is strange i give and i don't care if i get anything back.
my aunt becky was diagnosed with breast cancer3 yrs ago... we were all scared... she went thro chemo... she got better but shortly after my nana was diagnosed with breast cancer... it was hard to take... But we all made it thro, i am so glad, my nana and aunt becky are my best friends and knowing i couldve lost them both. I know parts of this song are specific for women... but I just beat stage 4 cancer a few months ago at 27, just a few years married and a beautiful 8 month old boy. These sorts of songs make you so so thankful for such a supportive wife, it's so much harder on her than me. I love her so much

This past Saturday I found a lump in the same breast and some swollen lymph nodes I am so glad to have stumbled upon this song at this time. I am praying that that the cancer has not come back,but deep down inside a woman just knows. I will keep this song near so I can listen when I need to. similar story I'm my moms youngest and the only one who never left her side during hospital stays hospice and the funeral but I just lost her April 19th and I'm 25 I can't imagine the pain of having to go through this as a kid.. she also got diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer and we would cry while singing along with this song together. She fought through chemo for over a year. We were blessed with some pretty tough mom's. take care of ya self for your little one, God bless

This song means so much to me . My father has 2 different types of Cancer. Stages 2 and 3. Im 16, and everytime i see him break down, my heart breaks. Hes going through chemo right now, and he needs to go through radiation, but he doesnt want to. I dont know how long he has, but im praying for him, and i hope he will still be with me
