  • In this Kundalini Yoga Class, we will be focusing on opening your heart chakra in this intense sequence which includes the Breath Of Fire Pranayama a signature in the kundalini kriya practice. It's time to expand your heart's center through this kundalini kriya yoga sequence. Remember that Kundalini Yoga Heart Opening is very different from the heart opening we do in a Vinyasa Class.
    Our opening invocation chant for this kundalini yoga class: "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo" - I bow to the divine teacher within.

    Thank you, Brett! Great practice! This is my second Kundalini practice (I also did your 1-hour Kundalini). Key takeaway from this one is how much shoulder and tricep work there is! In the previous workout I noticed how much flexing from the base of the spine and ab area we did, which makes sense; Kundalini Shakti is at the base of the spine. However in this one, I noticed how much discomfort (in a good way) can be channeled through small muscle groups like the delts and triceps. Discomfort awakens and allows embodiment. Hari Om Tat Sat. 🙏📿🧘‍♂

      i found this cool write up recently on the difference between "Om" & "Ong" and a great description on how to chant the "Ong" correctly. rosancruz.com/chant-ong-not-om/#:~:text=Yogi%20Bhajan%20differentiated%20the%20two,%2C%20is%20beyond%20thought%2C%20unlimited.&text=Om%20is%20the%20one%20beyond,the%20universal%20substance%20through%20Ong.%E2%80%9D And yes...oneBreath also will make it more powerful/higher frequency & connection. #finetuningourpractice #SatKartar #SatNam #lovetoall

    Thank you for this intense class. I always really enjoy to do yoga with your guidance. I have a question. The pose with the right leg extended, sitting on the left heel, is there a reason why you/we didn't do it the opposite way, too? I'm just wondering if it matters or not. I thought it was so important to always do the opposite way / bow and extend ... or did I miss it somehow?

    • @BrettLarkinYoga

      +lili vanilly no it's intentional and only one side for this particular Kriya. A lot of kundalini works like this to stimulate specific organs, like the liver for example which is on the right side of the body 💕🙏

  • @nathanlewis8251

    I'll preface this by saying I still enjoy practicing kundalini; it gives me a pleasant buzz for the next several hours, and helps me need less caffeine to get through the day. However, I used to really believe in it: the mantras, the activation of internal energy, manifestation, the lot of it. Building up to big events, I'd practice even harder to bring about a good outcome. But the results were never there. And I began to doubt the efficacy of the practice.
    And then I found out about the widespread allegations of clerical sexual and financial abuse surrounding Yogi Bhajan and 3HO. The historians asserting that the style is not an unbroken lineage but a pastiche of various practices dreamed up by Bhajan. And finally his own failure to practice kundalini himself or even keep himself sober. And that was when I abandoned any belief in the metaphysical benefits: if a practice's most famous teacher was a total mess, what could it possibly be doing for us lay practitioners?
    So I wanted to ask you: Where do you stand now on the authenticity and benefit of kundalini yoga? And please don't just say we have to separate the teachings from the teacher; that's a cop-out when the entire discipline comes from the teachings of one man and the org he founded. Thoughtful answers only please.

    Kundalini can be quite different from class to class, but you tend to share good feeling classes and this one falls in that category as well.. I like classes that I can enjoy while I'm doing them, and not only "enjoy because it's now over"..haha.. :) Thanks for sharing!!
    Just a question:
    Is the pose at about 25-26min's (forward fold over the right leg,
    holding the toe & foot) supposed to be on one side only, or both
    sides?

      In kundalini we do not always do things on both sides, the kriyas are designed very prescriptively. Yes, it is like an infinity symbol, do the best you can. I am not sure what origional mantra you are referring to, perhaps you could let me know? Thank you for practicing with me💖

    • @prismmandala
      @prismmandala 5 лет назад

      @@BrettLarkinYoga why wouldn't the kriya prescribe the Asana to both sides of the body? I've practiced many styles of yoga throughout 7 years of practice, and have always found that what we do to one side of the body we do to the other. I am currently trying to deepen my kundalini practice but am confused as to why kundalini would be different in regard to this seemingly fundamental rule.

    • @BrettLarkinYoga
      @BrettLarkinYoga  5 лет назад +1

      @@prismmandala it is just the way kundalini yoga is designed. It works with the energetics of the body, so one side can have different energetic qualities than the other. Therfore depending on the goal of the kriya, you may just work on one side and not the other. Hope this helps!

    • @prismmandala
      @prismmandala 5 лет назад

      @@BrettLarkinYoga That actually makes more sense to me now.
