Okay, we shot this long enough ago, that while I was playing along with the episode (because it's short so why not?), I actually didn't match MYSELF about 40% of the time!
I don't feel like the key-interesting mechanic in this game works for 4 players. Everyone's strategy should be to write the most obvious word. Because it's the most obvious, you'd always have at least 1 match. If you get 1 match, you and them get the most amount of points available. If 2 match with you, the three of you get 1, and the other certainly gets 0, putting you the most ahead (along with the other 2 people). If everyone matches, no one gains an advantage.
True, thats what I was thinking at the beginning. Like many party games it simply doesn't really work with 4 people. Just One would be better for 4 if you want something like this.
Well put, even if 5, the strategy of most obvious word is hard to guard against, because the two not using this strategy will struggle to consistently score 3... would be interesting to analyze this with game theory.
"Everyone's strategy should be to write the most obvious word." Yup, so obvious that many times no one matched anybody :) But yeah, it's better with more players... but quick enough to still be fine with 4.
Dave: (Who chose right and night as his first two guesses) That's it, all my answers are going to rhyme the whole night. *immediately draws the word court* My best laugh of the day so far.
I played this at Gencon 2018, and the problem with a bigger group is that you’re more likely to score only 1 point, so I think we even cut the game short because it was taking so long.
damnit i was matching ross soooo often - metal gear, fresh meat, time lord... i think we might be running in similar circles XD but this looks like a really fun game =)
You guys are great but didn’t play Blank Slate by the rules and the best part. You should reveal your answers one by one, not all at once. It makes it way more fun. One more note, this is a great game to play over Zoom! Only one person needs a copy of the game and all others just need pen and paper. Super fun!
Snackable Games I know it was recorded before the quarantine I just want to persuade people to stay at home at the time we are at now, this was my only goal to inform people of my loss and persuade people to stay at home and protect the vulnerable people in our countries.
Love this episode! Short, simple, and you can play along at home. Best wishes to game night!

That's how you know its prerecorded, nobody put Social Distancing xD
It’s sad times, that’s the first thing I thought of too.
🙄 Last thing I would think of!
Social blank.... Different answers if this was recorded now 🤣
That is the 1st party style game that has appealed to me.
I like your term "shelter at home", here its called "lockdown"!
This game looks fun. Had you played it today I am sure someone would have written Distancing when the word Social showed up.
Loved the game, I played with you and I have to say that I matched Rosse's videogames references, Silent Hill and Metal Gear! Well played Ross

This seems like a fun game, was kind of playing along you guys while watching.
Glad it has the indent... that whole time I was worried about smudging.
At first I was like, "wow, only 17min?" but now I get it haha

Dave asked if there was another word you could put before slate. My answer is Mister.
LOL, awesome.

This would be a great game to play over zoom, or some video chat.
This would be super-fun with more people!
How do you do a tie breaker?
so, never heard of TRUCK....DRIVER??
To me, the scoring punishes creativity... which then makes it less fun. Though it's quick enough that I'm still willing to play.
I think it's open to house ruling variants... I liked the idea of coming up with unique, but legitimate, answers to score points.
would actually reward creativity in a larger group in my opinion. go for the 3 rather than 1.
It's definitely better with more players. But luckily it's quick enough not to matter that much with fewer.
Played along and scored 4, time warp , truck load, first child, tooth brush to name a few missed points
doesn't putting a freshly markered board face down on the table stain the table?
Dave addresses this in the post game comments. There's a slight indentation in the player board.
EDIT: didn't know they were indented. That's great.
So, its Match Game, the Board Game

Cameron Fyfe my condolences :(
So sad
Just to be clear, this video was recorded before the quarantine.
Snackable Games I know it was recorded before the quarantine I just want to persuade people to stay at home at the time we are at now, this was my only goal to inform people of my loss and persuade people to stay at home and protect the vulnerable people in our countries.
@@cameronfyfe440 I thought so. But just wanted to clarify as well. I am sorry for your loss!
