@deezynar spinning shot put was not started by brian oldfield, it was started by aleksandr barishnakov of russia, however brian oldfield was the first one to start using it in america
@sandnigga2233 Hey, thanks for the reply and the info on Barishnikov. I did a quick search on him & shot put technique & the invention of spinning. A few articles credit Barishnikov, or rather his coach, & a few others say Oldfield independently & simultaneously invented it. I'm not a putter, but I think this is interesting & I'd love to see a video of the two men talking about it. I also learned that gliding only dates to '51. Cheers
I was looking at videos on unpowered aircraft and ended up here?! So while I'm here, can someone educate me? What's with the term "glider" as it applies to putting the shot? Is it the straight movement without spinning? If that's it, what's the fellow's name who started spinning, Oldfield, or something like that? Thanks, in advance. I'm going back to the aircraft now, but it's been fun.
RIP Parry O'Brien! 1932-2007

TeamDiscus, Thanks for the feedback. It seemed like a logical guess, since all the puters in the video are old school chuckers.
@deezynar no problem and also Barishnikov was the first man over 22 meters
thats right.
But i dont know who it was that started spining. Im a discusthrower not a shot puter. But you were right about the term glider.
Ahhh. The Golden Age. . .
Where men were men.
Shorts were short.
And America dominated the throws.
