When I reached the town of Stone in Staffordshire, I paused to pick up a special guest - Jasmin from RUclips channel "This Narrowboat Adventure" (link below). Battling the mighty forces of wind, rain and vicious swans, we made it through the town until calling it quits for the day.

I know you're not fussed on visitors, but having one who knows exactly what they're doing, and then does it with enthusiasm and cheer while saying 'hello' to random strangers on the tow path, and only taking a break to buy YOU ice cream, seems like a jolly nice visitor to have!
aww its given me a big grin watching this back we did have a good laugh! thanks for having me!
Jasmin, if David won't say it I will... It was a pleasure having you on board. It was especially nice for us watching you on this cruise.
I have no idea how the algorithm worked out that I might be interested in canal boats, but I'm finding this vlog really interesting and relaxing to watch. Thank you.
Thanks, That's relaxing, hear in Australia we have drought fires now seeing greens happy cow's water is a pleasant break.
George Lewis as a North American Wildland Fire Fighter I couldn’t agree with you more. Keep a cold one handy (and I’ll raise one for you too), summer is coming for you Down Under.
I always like it when you point out places of national historic significance. It usually causes me to look them up on the internet, to see where they are located and what they are. Your channel is always a learning experience. Please continue doing this. Dave, Niagara Falls, NY.
That heron wasn't a silly animal, he was being your lookout for boats that may be coming. If he saw one he would fly off giving you a warning. Well, that is my story and I'm sticking to it. = ) David, you're a good man for opening the lock for that boat. If I had a narrow boat I would want Jasmine as a crew member or someone as nice and good as her. Of course her good looks would be a bonus. = ) Thanks for the trip and looking forwards to the next video. 👍
That's just wonderful. England looks like a slice of heaven. No ticks, chiggers, spiders or snakes dropping on you from the trees, no mosquitoes, no biting flies, no water moccasins, no gators, no problems.
One thing that is really admirable about this channel is how often you'll plug another narrowboat channel just because they're your friends. It really makes it seem like a warm little community.
What gorgeous brickwork on Salt Bridge!
Reminded me of Dante, a bit.
I can think of nothing better than being on a canal boat in the rain with good company.
On the subject of tick-over (tickover?), in my naval days my ship, USS Bainbridge CGN 25 once made a short transit from Bremerton, Washington to Seattle with a load of family and friends onboard
Our skipper, Captain "Terrible" Ted Almstedt, wishing to demonstrate the miracle of nuclear power, rang up "all ahead flank" in a posted 10 mph zone. All 10,000 tons of the Bainbridge went from zero to more than 30 knots in less than three minutes.
The resulting mini-tidal wave caused great consternation ashore and resulted in a reprimand for the skipper.
The civilians on board, however loved loved the show, including the 40-fot high rooster tail.
!!!!!!!!
So...way back when you first had your change of lifestyle I some how fell upon your vlogs. I’ve watched all of them; so much so that CC is a watchword for quality and knowledge. Then Rich and Fran from Floating Our Boat began their excellent vlogs. Again I’ve watched them all. More recently Well Deck Diaries (Right nice pint) has had me hooked. The upshot of all this is that today I have finally paid for my very own narrow boat. I can’t tell you how pleased I am. You will all get a share of the bill as you are all responsible!
Excellent! Hope you have a wonderful time aboard.
Oh Jasmine is so cute. Looked like a lovely day to cruise. Thanks for sharing.
it was a lovely day untill the rain!
Hey David im so happy your channel is growing. You deserve it ! Been a great company for me and im glad you made your channel what it is. Cheers
I really enjoy your videos. Don't know why. Just do.
His english is perfect
Jasmin is adorable, what a sweet face. I quite enjoyed this one, so thank you. Watching your videos makes me want to chuck it all and buy a boat, but for now, I'll keep watching.
Oh Jasmin, such a sweet girl, very hands-on and superb narrowboater. I have followed her channel as long as I have followed yours.
what a lovely compliment thank you Anthony!
I discovered Narrowboats via Jazmine and her Narrowboat adventure ...so nice you guys know each other and video together ....(your viewers secretly watch the other NB channels too ssshhhh). ....it conveys the comradery of your boat community so well!! ...we are assembling a crew, updating passports and hope to make it over the the UK and NB for real !! Thank You again for the ride along !! ...learn something every time Gate Paddles : )
Your videos are delight to watch.
Really enjoyed the commentary in this one.
We had a Heron near Devizes that saw us coming, landed just above the bottom gates in a full lock we were entering and waited. He knew exactly what he was doing as we scared the fish in his direction and he fished out his breakfast.
Also saw a seagull at a boat yard come over as soon as he heard the guys fire up their water pump to empty their dry dock. The water flies out of the pump and the seagull grabs a fish out of the water seconds later.
Smart birds on the K&A...
Been loving this vlog during lockdown and shall continue post lockdown thank you very much. A whole new world for me stumbled upon by pure accident.
Found you via Andrew Ditton and Travelling K, watched a few of your videos randomly then went back to number one and watched from the start! I’ve even watched Vandemonium! I find your videos really relaxing and you have a lovely voice and presenting style. Thank you for all the entertainment! x
Thank you!
Jasmine, definitely improved the view, and made passings thought the locks all the better.
well thank you marinka :)
Velociraptors and Trexs of the canals, lol. I'm sure the canal bugs would agree with you. You should patent a floating chimney cap. ;-)
Another lovely part of the canal system. We have enjoyed all of your vlogs and are looking forward to many narrowboat adventures of our own - taking delivery of our boat in mid October 😁
you going to live on it year round?
you going to live on it year round?
Wow! Very exciting. Have fun :-)
Jasmine is very lovely
Agreed,,, she actually made him look less lonley 😂 xx I think shes lovley too.
Well i finally got to see a Few narrow boats as we are visiting England from the states & got to talking to some narrow boaters today in Stratford upon Avon. Very cool!
As usual, delightful trip on the canal. calming. Now, back to my wife!!
lol
I love your support of other members of the continuous cruising community. And of course the excellent vlogs!
Aaarrrgh......David! Just as the rain is coming down you decide to moor up, have a brew, and say "cheerio". The sound of the rain is what i want to hear and see from inside your boat!!!
Indeed! That sound is what we long for too! We live in the US and have had almost 4 days of straight rain along with the constant roll of thunder which is what I consider to be the perfect day and night! Maybe one of these days he will give us a treat and we can hear the rain from inside the narrowboat. Fingers crossed!
good thought - what's it like indoors in a big storm?
Me too. I'd always love to see what an average evening moored is like inside the narrowboats. A rainy night and a snowy night seems quite interesting.
Thank goodness for RUclips... in these days of Covid when dream trips will likely never happen.
Yea but this covid is making my bucket list so much larger.
I like Jasmine, she’s very delightful.
why thank you!
I’m going to be brutally honest, I fall asleep watching your videos. However not because of boredom, but because your videos are borderline criminally relaxing, hmmm that was awkward sounding but it’s the best I could come up with in my current Cruising the Cut haze. I must admit watching one of your videos three times before getting all the way through it is NO bad thing. Much love and respect from across the pond! Keep up the great work!
It's a splendid compliment, thank you
Hello all the way from Las Vegas, Nevada. I really enjoy your style and appreciate your transparency particularly when you’ve noted other narrowboat vlogs. Mostly I enjoy watching you, CHG, and Robbie C. You make me laugh when I least expect it w your colorful descriptions & commentary. Keep up the great videos.
Well, well - fancy catching our home up in the air at Aston Marina 🤭 having some new build warranty work done ☹️
We’d have waved if we had known you were passing!
Lovely stretch of the cut you’ve been travelling on - always enjoy seeing it through another’s eyes.
Keep up the great vlogs
[internet stalking intensifies]
...and a good time was had by all!
One day, when I was much younger, I was mountain biking along a small river in New England. I came across a Heron who flew off a little way further along the trail only to repeat the process once I caught up. For years I thought of this as a quasi-spirtual experience. The majestic blue bird guiding my way. Tuns out, though, that they just do that. Silly animal.
Perhaps they are guarding their territory.
Jasmin has a lovely smile and a (seemingly) charming, childlike quality/enthusiasm.
accurate!
I have been watching a number of your videos now and what strikes me is the quality of your narration.
Your narration and comments make for enjoyable viewing of what could be a boring video (Foe instance just watching a longboat cruise up a canal).
You should consider writing a book of your more memorable moments out boating. I would definitely buy a copy if you ever published one!
All the best, Mike
Thank you, Mike
Yes for sure. great audio. Well spoken, even tone, very relaxing.
Thanks for introducing the T-rex`s and Velociraptors of the canals...they are really frigthening...
8-o
Bet that was a good night 😉
I always know I will get a relaxing vlog when I see you have posted a new one, so I make a coffee, sit back and enjoy....and this one was no different...beautiful scenery and...….I really enjoy your particular brand of commentary. Thank you.
For the viewers who are not so familiar with the canals and the tiny villages I have a suggestion: once and a while show the canal map enlarged to give an idea where you are. Overall I like the voice-over stories, well done as well as the videos.
Map links are in the video description, cheers
Hey there!. Just discovered your videos after one appeared in my recommendations (no idea why, I don't usually watch anything "boaty"), and I've got to say I'm hooked. I just love the serenity of it all. You also really remind me of one of my old work managers, who was a nice guy, so maybe that's drawing me in too!. Also noticed there's four years of videos to catch up on...
I have no idea how this channel turned up for me earlier as well. I'm a quick catcher-upper and watched the van conversion as well. I do skip the realtime no talking videos though.
Same thing happened to me the other week!
Hello! Thanks for watching and glad you like them :-)
Beautiful England.
The Salt Bridge was beautiful. I always love when you do the history bits, specially when it is something this old.
Id loved to hear you do audio books
I have been binge watching you video's. I think I have see almost everyone in the last week.
Hands up everyone who's been a bit over enthusiastic with the gate paddles on the way up and flooded the well deck...
👋👋
Cheers. Wife and I love watching your adventures from Myrtle Beach, SC. One word of advice tho, stay out of Midsomer. Not sure if they have any canals but avoid Midsomer at all costs. ;)
That’s funny
Yes LOL. 😂
😂👌
Stone is a nice town. The bins are between the elsan and the chandlery, behind a wooden slatted screen.
10:15 Jasmin is so cute haha
Even if I'm a bit of a hermit, I can see the pros of having someone with you on a boat, as crew and company, and Jasmin is a joy.
I find your videos so calming and therapeutic they are a real treat. Maybe living on a boat would suit me better than living in suburbia!
I love that this is the thing I look forward to when I get home from school it’s just such a nice Channel to watch and relax to
I’m from the US and love your Chantal. I have been thinking of coming over the pond just to take a boat out for a week or so.
Loved the reference to "Time flies by when I'm the driver of a train" in the beginning!
I used to have a canoe and loved the rain when I was all tucked in with a coat hat and a sort of elasticated cover around the seat area.
Outstanding!
Roger fuller is still at the basin, now his privet Wharf/playground and privet moorings. His son Joseph Fuller in shot. Also to point out Roger has a boat museum at the site which is amazing given the chance or opportunity to visit, well worth it.
I did not know that, thank you!
Well done on this vlog. It’s great.
Chigley, that's where it came from. Brian Cant sings, "time flies by when I'm a driver of a train and I ride on the foot plate there and back again...........Happy memories.
really enjoyed this. thank you
Loving the videos keeping me sane
Delightful as always:)))
Love watching your adventures with the narrowboats👍😁
Thanks for the mention 👍🏻
I love that bridge. Nice video. Thanks!
Beautiful area! Happy to see that you had temporary crew for this stretch, and thanks for taking all of us along!
Thank you for sharing your journeys! Really enjoy tuning in..
It's nice to have crew, especially pretty crew.
It certainly does help
Wonderful and relaxing as usual. Great landscapes too.
Thanks for your great video-jobs! They come to live and are very entertaining. Greetings from Germany.
Very relaxing views. Well done Sir!
Been watching the videos on the rebuilding of the canals. Such history. I do so much enjoy
Viewing you vlog 👍😊❗
Thank you David.
and thanks once more for a great video,,,,adding crew was a nice thought,,,,some merriment and conversation along the way,,,regards
Great video, thank you, cheers!
I like Jasmine, keep her around.
She's good for you!
I think she'd probably quite like to go back to her own boat in London!
@@CruisingTheCut
She spending time with you. That's a good start.
@@meinkamph5327 davids good enough with out me
What a great way to relax me before my dentist appointment. Now I'm ready to face the rest on that root canal today. Can not wait... Hip hip hooray.......
Have a great weekend Daivd & thanks for the great relaxing ride,
Chris from Missouri
Ouch
Another well edited vlog. So relaxing to sit back and watch. Thank you for putting all the hard work into them 👍
David while understand the speed limits of the Canals there are times it looks like you are speeding along, yet when I look at the water there just is no ripples, the scenery is just wonderful and so peaceful. Always a Joy to watch your Blog.
Nice relaxing cruising vlog. Thanks
I wish the canals went on forever, and I love the little guitar intro, such a beautiful sound, a little taste of more beauty to come
I like your empathy with respect to moored boats. nice to meet Jasmine - a bit of help goes a long way. Superb video. Loved your commentary too. Thanks David
Having tea and toast and I'm enjoying your adventures.
Well done Jasmin, great lock work.
Merci beaucoup!
You have a very Beautiful Crew Member.
I noticed that seeing the small piece of your blue bow starts giving me that same feeling of familiarity as I'm getting from seeing the hood (pardon me - the bonnet...lol) of my own car...!
Hi ,just to say, your amazing videos are so entertaining,l love the scenic views on your awesome adventures around the beautiful countryside,
It's very nice to see your narrowboat friend on board with you ,enjoying your company,
First it was Traveling K and now the beguiling Jasmin. Someone appears to have an eye for attractive women, you dissolute man. Did the rapping penguin bring along her skateboard? After the Elsan point which had no rubbish bins, the next bridge, which I think was the Newcastle Road Bridge 95, was a rather impressive structure funneling you into that lock. I love the tranquility of the rural cruising, including when you stalk the herons, but I also like to look at the old structures along the canal, and that bridge attracted my attention. Unfortunately, your attention seemed to be directed toward your crew. Very enjoyable video.
Great VLogs! We enjoy them, in Arizona, USA!
Jasmine looks like good fun.
Thank you very much!
Great to see two of my fave boat tubers in one vid. Twice the prize for half the cost!
Great watch David looking forward to next vlog....thanks for sharing
Loved the narrowing tunnel bridge approaching the lock. Nice video as always
Watching your vlog is so relaxing and peaceful. Watching allows me to escape my world and enter peace and harmony. I've watched your videos more than anything else on RUclips. I'm here in the US. I lived adjacent to the old Morris Canal. The Morris was used to haul bulk goods across New Jersey. I'd love to see narrow boats cruising " The Cut " here in America
Thanks David for my weekly injection of good canal vlogs. Your. lovely companion did a great job.🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍🥂
Enjoyed this video bro and lovely to see who your special guest was. All the best
