Rain pelting the portlights, wind blowing…knowing you’re tied to the bank securely…rocking gently..relaxing with a book- I’d be out like a light before I finished 1 page! I have a sailboat, so all those things would NOT be relaxing. Maybe I should chuck the sailboat and move to England or France and get a narrowboat. Well, as we sailors say, Fair winds and following seas!

The name Charles Tunnicliffe rang a bell with me as he is the same C F Tunnicliffe who illustrated Ladybird books. He did “What to look for in Winter” and all the other seasons. Well every time I watch an episode, I wish I were in a tea room or pub with you, sitting beside a fire with a dozen or so new questions I am dying to ask. As an ancient American sailor I am beginning to feel that a Narrowboat should be somewhere in my future.

I’m thinking I may have to come hire one for a week, maybe next year. Do you ever agree to meet with those who follow you and let them buy you a supper?

I live on the Gulf Coast currently and 2 days ago , we had 4 States dealing with tornadoes. All we had to do was hunker down!!! Loving your book that I received expeditiously, to Ocean Springs, MS!
Tornados! 😱 I’d be so frightened in a tornado. When my kids were little, I took them to Florida on holiday and there was a tornado; I was so worried that I made us all sit in a cupboard until it had passed. I hope you are all safe and sound now? Take care 🌻🦋
@@themindfulnarrowboat Yes, Gulf Coast folk are quite a resilient bunch!! I lived in Florida before moving here, and spent my youth in England (British Mum) but I must say, the people here on the Gulf Coast are very congenial and warm-hearted!!! It's no England, but we have a lot more sunshine!!!
How resilient your outdoor flowers, standing up to hail and gale! And England looks so harmonious seen from the slow glide of the boat. It is really interesting seeing the old illustrations against the present day sites, and how well maintained some buildings and countryside have been. Thank you for sharing the experience.

Yet another enthralling video, There is a soothing nostalgic atmosphere in your tours around the canals, being in the midst the nature and wildlife and historical landmarks that thankfully have not changed .. I didn't know that Jackdaws were generational in their nesting places, so fascinating, So relieved that you weren't near that tree falling down. The bridges are as magnificent as they were built and is a testimony to our great grand parents building and engineering skills. Zephyr is looking dapper, and methinks she is extra careful because she doesn't want to get wet. Either way she is a very loyal, considerate and careful companion. I love the way you make your tea, it sounds and looks divine!, I can almost smell the delicious aroma of Rose Petal tea. Thanks again for a lovely half hour of a fascinating journey.😀

@@themindfulnarrowboat Hello Vanessa, We will have our ABC boat for a month so the plan is to go anti clockwise (OK I should say counter clockwise and stop pretending I'm not American😄) through the Braunston Tunnel, past Leicester, on to the Trent and Mersey and back to the marina just before Nuneaton. I should consider the Ashby and going to see Coventry.Is it possible we'd make a big change in our lives and buy a boat when we get to Rugby??

My gosh all that wind and rain, the tulips and daffodils held up well. I think we are finally getting some Spring weather too here. Zephyr is such a sweatheart. Lleased you say Zero, and Holly the Narrowboat Café - they have decided to stay on their boats for another 6 months, so maybe coffee and a cake are in the offing. You’ve got some lovely spring flowers on the bow of your boat. I was just thinking, I think that’s near where Victor and Jo moor their cafe boat Holly and then Holly the cafe boat came into view. Ahh yes, the thrilling life of slow boating. 😄 There after 19:10 sounded like (and looked like) a bit of hail in that, at least according to my experience in buildings with metal roofs and siding here in the US midwest.

Lucky your Guardian Angel was on duty the day you were operating that lock EH? .... And that Storm?? - I was surprised the flowers appeared to withstand the BATTERING! ..... When I was really little, I remember my Mum had a pet Jackdaw that always seemed to be sitting on her shoulder - Even when we popped down to the shop - She also had a Great Dane which we little'uns used to ride on like a horse 😄..... Just received my copy of your 2023 Journal ... Looking forward to dipping in and out of over the next week or two ... Never like rushing these things 🙂
