Vanessa I look forward to your vlog, it's a sheer delight to relax with a coffee and watch you and Zeph on your adventures. One of my sons owns an old 23ft Norman cabin cruiser and we cruise the Grand Union Canal mostly between Leighton Buzzard and Berkhamstead. We are both keen Anglers and quite often spend a couple of nights/days fishing where we moor the boat who's name is "Dotty". You are a very talented and artistic lady and always look so happy, which is wonderful.
So lovely to see you and Zephyr having fun together. What a long train journey and walk to your boat in the hail at the end. You are such a delight, Melissa, and your happiness is infectious, keep making your wonder videos and doing your art.
I couldn't imagine swapping out my afternoon tea biscuits for dried fruit. The best I can do is occasionally downgrade my chocolate-covered Hobnobs to regular, non-chocolaty ones!

Only found your videos recently - I am loving them. They bring back memories of holidays on my parents narrow boat in the 1980s, mostly on the Shropshire Union canal (the Shroppie) in the Midlands. That was an exceptionally beautiful poem at the end Vanessa. Life withour pain is indeed an impossible thing so God gives us the birds, flowers, sunshine and even the rain which makes it all sparkle to compensate for the sorrows and pain. I came across something recently that I really liked: "life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain." There will always be problems, worries, calamities and sad times. But if you can enjoy sitting in the wet grass playing with your dog and enjoy some tasty biscuits with tea, well it's all doable, yes? As I was watching your video I saw a deer go galloping past my screen door. I'm lucky my back deck over looks the green space, woods and community garden in back. Deer come frequently to snack at the bird feeders and steal veg out of the garden when it ripens. Bunnies munch on hostas and grass at silflay and squirrels earn the wrath of those trying who fill the bird feeders and tend the garden. But they're all part of nature and make it all worth while, I think. Have a good weekend! 😊

Thanks for the memories Vanessa. Lyme Park was a day out for us when I was a child. In those days I found the Cage frightening as it seemed to loom over us! A little later in life I rambled and hiked in Cheshire and the Peak District and remember White Nancy very well. I'm happy that your gas problem is now sorted out.
When we were kids, the Cage was open at 'Lion Park' as we called it. I fell down the wooden stairs in there, but you could walk up and look through the windows.
I am watching your older vlogs between your updates and among other things I am amazed by your progress in drawing. Your skill was good, but each time you flip the pages of your notebook letting us see your illustrations, we can see they are so vivid, almost coming to life now. Keep up the good work !

Lovely to see your lovely smile again Vanessa. 😊 Realised you had been paying your respects and giving thanks for the life of your dear friend. Zephyr's eyes are so soft and gentle-they will win anyones heart! So lucky you had the gas engineer calling quickly. Those rubber hoses were surprisingly petrified. An angel must have been keeping an eye on you😊. P.S biscuits are much nicer with tea than banana chips!

“Aah” the whistle is back !! So missed last it last week ,thank you so much for including us on your journey , your sketch of the Swallow was wonderful ,I lived in the “sticks “ for over eight years ,every summer the telephone wires became festooned with scores of Swallows sadly after eight years their numbers were down by as much as fifty per cent a sign of the times I’m afraid !! Loved the mining bee hitching a ride, i've just discovered we have a colony in our front lawn - I was tidying up the garden last weekend and noticed I was being bothered by several 'worker bees' as i call them to my kids, I quickly got done and out of their way as they werent happy with my presence! 🤭 Did anyone else think Mr Swindell looks just like Joe Lycett?! Thankyou for your beautiful videos, such a dramatic title but the most relaxing watch. Its funny you live alone but have such an outreach and impact on so many peoples lives through this channel. Missed you so much last Friday so glad you are back again. Nice to see all of nature changing back slowly to spring. My flock of squirrels grown have at least 10 now running around my back yard. I love the way you are with your dog. I'm the same with mine but that aside, I had a similar gas problem myself. My boat failed its safety certificate because of gas pressure drop. The oven was connected completely with the wrong fittings. I bought the correct ones from Calor and my local gas safety registered guy came out and fitted it for £80.00 which was a steal. While he was there he tested my (never used) gas fire and found a leak there too. I removed it whilst he was there and he blanked off the pipe for nothing. He then issued me with a gas safe certificate which he sent to the original boat safety guy who in turn sent me a boat safety certificate. The boating community on the whole are great people. Please keep sharing your videos. They keep me going with my restoration to enable me to go cruising when I retire. I'll wave if I see you, as you suggested. Take care.

Oh yes I well remember all those journeys on foot to tiny railway stations to get to family in Kent. One of my funny memories was arriving back at Oxford main station late at night only to be offered money by a lovely lady who thought I was homeless, because I was heavily burdened by rucksack and plastic bags! Mind you I was also wearing an ancient Barbour with stuffed pockets too! All very necessary for the long walk back to my boat
🤭 I know what you mean by this! Last winter, I had to visit a town to do some post office stuff and I realised that people were staring at me in the queue, then I looked down at the amount of mud on my boots and trousers! I'm so sorry you have lost a good friend, I'm sure the eulogy you gave was a bittersweet tribute to your friend. I'm also sorry to hear of your diesel bug issue. You may need to have your fuel tank cleaned professionally, the diesel bug is gritty and can damage your engine. Regular doses of fuel additive should keep it at bay. Oh . . . I received my copy of your 2023 journal and was truly surprised at the crochet gift you enclosed, thank you so very much Vanessa, I will treasure it. Hi the other week.there was a truly stunning carpet of beautiful bluebells spread out for all to see .there majestic bells were waving in the soft breeze.shaded by many magnificent intruding trees. The bluebells were just so beautiful to see.thus showing the joy that springtime brings to you and me ❤⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi Vanessa. You travelled quite a few miles in this video story. Both on foot and by train. How did you manage Zephyr on the underground? Dogs are supposed to be carried, but maybe you found a lift, or stairs. We went up to the Cage a couple of years ago. I remember a NT property at the bottom of the hill (although the name escapes me). You caught a lovely shot of the heron taking off. Your engine didn't sound too bad to me, but the gas leak could have been very serious. But you and Zephyr survived the ordeal. I love the piece at the end where you boil the kettle, make your tea, arrange the biscuits on the plate and read the wonderful poetry, whilst sketching in the journal. xx

The problem with healthy food is we eat it so quickly as it's not very filling. Then it's back to the Biscuits. I can see Zephr is a very well behaved Dog and she can read your mind. She knows when a treat is about to be offered. Maybe if everyone who owned a Gun said Shoot or I'll shout instead of the alternative the World would be a safer place. What a beautiful village Rainow. Vanessa I look forward to your vlog, it's a sheer delight to relax with a coffee and watch you and Zeph on your adventures. One of my sons owns an old 23ft Norman cabin cruiser and we cruise the Grand Union Canal mostly between Leighton Buzzard and Berkhamstead. We are both keen Anglers and quite often spend a couple of nights/days fishing where we moor the boat who's name is "Dotty". You are a very talented and artistic lady and always look so happy, which is wonderful.
So lovely to see you and Zephyr having fun together. What a long train journey and walk to your boat in the hail at the end. You are such a delight, Melissa, and your happiness is infectious, keep making your wonder videos and doing your art.

Life withour pain is indeed an impossible thing so God gives us the birds, flowers, sunshine and even the rain which makes it all sparkle to compensate for the sorrows and pain. I came across something recently that I really liked: "life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, but learning how to dance in the rain." There will always be problems, worries, calamities and sad times. But if you can enjoy sitting in the wet grass playing with your dog and enjoy some tasty biscuits with tea, well it's all doable, yes? As I was watching your video I saw a deer go galloping past my screen door. I'm lucky my back deck over looks the green space, woods and community garden in back. Deer come frequently to snack at the bird feeders and steal veg out of the garden when it ripens. Bunnies munch on hostas and grass at silflay and squirrels earn the wrath of those trying who fill the bird feeders and tend the garden. But they're all part of nature and make it all worth while, I think. Have a good weekend! 😊

Thanks for the memories Vanessa. Lyme Park was a day out for us when I was a child. In those days I found the Cage frightening as it seemed to loom over us! A little later in life I rambled and hiked in Cheshire and the Peak District and remember White Nancy very well. I'm happy that your gas problem is now sorted out.

When we were kids, the Cage was open at 'Lion Park' as we called it. I fell down the wooden stairs in there, but you could walk up and look through the windows.

So missed last it last week ,thank you so much for including us on your journey , your sketch of the Swallow was wonderful ,I lived in the “sticks “ for over eight years ,every summer the telephone wires became festooned with scores of Swallows sadly after eight years their numbers were down by as much as fifty per cent a sign of the times I’m afraid !! Loved the mining bee hitching a ride, i've just discovered we have a colony in our front lawn - I was tidying up the garden last weekend and noticed I was being bothered by several 'worker bees' as i call them to my kids, I quickly got done and out of their way as they werent happy with my presence! 🤭

I love the way you are with your dog. I'm the same with mine but that aside, I had a similar gas problem myself. My boat failed its safety certificate because of gas pressure drop. The oven was connected completely with the wrong fittings. I bought the correct ones from Calor and my local gas safety registered guy came out and fitted it for £80.00 which was a steal. While he was there he tested my (never used) gas fire and found a leak there too. I removed it whilst he was there and he blanked off the pipe for nothing. He then issued me with a gas safe certificate which he sent to the original boat safety guy who in turn sent me a boat safety certificate. The boating community on the whole are great people. Please keep sharing your videos. They keep me going with my restoration to enable me to go cruising when I retire. I'll wave if I see you, as you suggested. Take care.

Oh yes I well remember all those journeys on foot to tiny railway stations to get to family in Kent. One of my funny memories was arriving back at Oxford main station late at night only to be offered money by a lovely lady who thought I was homeless, because I was heavily burdened by rucksack and plastic bags! Mind you I was also wearing an ancient Barbour with stuffed pockets too! All very necessary for the long walk back to my boat
🤭 I know what you mean by this! Last winter, I had to visit a town to do some post office stuff and I realised that people were staring at me in the queue, then I looked down at the amount of mud on my boots and trousers! I'm so sorry you have lost a good friend, I'm sure the eulogy you gave was a bittersweet tribute to your friend. I'm also sorry to hear of your diesel bug issue. You may need to have your fuel tank cleaned professionally, the diesel bug is gritty and can damage your engine. Regular doses of fuel additive should keep it at bay. Oh . . . Hi the other week.there was a truly stunning carpet of beautiful bluebells spread out for all to see .there majestic bells were waving in the soft breeze.shaded by many magnificent intruding trees. The bluebells were just so beautiful to see.thus showing the joy that springtime brings to you and me ❤⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi Vanessa. You travelled quite a few miles in this video story. Both on foot and by train. How did you manage Zephyr on the underground? Dogs are supposed to be carried, but maybe you found a lift, or stairs.
We went up to the Cage a couple of years ago. I remember a NT property at the bottom of the hill (although the name escapes me). You caught a lovely shot of the heron taking off.
Your engine didn't sound too bad to me, but the gas leak could have been very serious.
But you and Zephyr survived the ordeal. I love the piece at the end where you boil the kettle, make your tea, arrange the biscuits on the plate and read the wonderful poetry, whilst sketching in the journal. xx

Thank goodness you smelt the gas on your return, we are late this week, we've been to Mablethorpe for a few days, by heck the North East wind and rain was bitter, we didn't see any swallows. Zephyr did very well on the train journey, great video again. All the best Gary n Irene
