Lisandro Posse Well I mean because they have been releasing records for 25 years.
I'd say there are artists who were as good/better than them, but in their own time.
      Beatles, David Bowie, Pink Floyd

Dude I feel the exact same way. By normal standards I have only begun to get into Radiohead. Started listening to them in September. Once the obsession hit in early October I couldn't listen to anything else and it was fine then, this was the greatest discovery ever. Now ik everything about this band and every song they have ever made. I tried muse again, I tried all the classics. Nothing is working, and i am left with the same exact problem. Nothing fills the void that this band has created.

Hadn't seen Radiohead since 2003 HTTT tour. Still a spectacular performing band, now with two drummers to replicate all the complex beats of King of Limbs and In Rainbows. Tonight performed Supercollider and two other new sides (Identakit was the killer) tonight at Verizon Center in DC. Very nice, surprisingly, straightforwardly old-fashioned (for Radiohead) number, performed with brio.

This song is about an accident on a city street. When you die your brain fires off all of its neurons rapidly within the last split seconds of your life in a last ditch effort to restart the body. This song is about those last split seconds of your life. It is very descriptive based on scientific and medical reports of what people have said in the last few seconds of a traumatic death. Neurons fire gathering everything your mind has experienced within its lifetime and puts all of your life shadows back into the boxes (or away) as you die. In this song that is what happens, and the person/s do not survive as the angels look over the balcony.

To anyone wondering, Thom Yorke has never confirmed what the song means.
The best interpretation is it's about the supercollider - a high energy particle accelerator that causes beams of particles to clash with one another. Scientists hope to use colliders as means to answer many open ended questions in physics and lead to a better understanding of our universe. They also hope to find the "God particle' or higgs boson, which is why the last line refers to the angels.
It's open for interpretation, but there's some really far fetched ideas being promoted as fact here.

In retrospect, I think we were being conservative. Another 20 years could go by and people will still be dissecting Radiohead's brilliance.

I don't think this band is mediocre at all. Some (and very few) of their selections are a little lackluster, but as a whole, this is practically the best modern band out there, if not the best, even though they're not really new, they keep reinventing themselves. That is a smart thing to do, and they always deliver. Nothing weak or dull about ol Radiohead!!

    6. Magpie

    [Verse 1]
    Supercollider
    Dust in a moment
    Particles scatter
    Coming up from the soup
    Swimming upstream
    Before the heavens crack open
    Thin pixellation
    Coming up from the dust
    In a blue light
    In a green light
    In a half-life
    In an arc light
    I'm a B-spin
    Flip flopping
    I'm a pulse wave
    Hot-stepping
    [Chorus]
I put the shadows back into the boxes
    [Verse 2]
    I am open
    I am welcome
    For a fraction
    Of a second
    I have jettisoned (Supercollider)
My illusions (Dust in a moment)
    I have dislodged (Particles scatter)
My depression (Parting out from the soup)
    [Chorus]
I put the shadows back into the boxes
I put the shadows back into the boxes
    [Outro]
I've seen the angel hanging over the balcony
I've seen the angel hanging over the balcony
I've seen the angel hanging over the balcony

Radiohead's consistency is amazing. Most other bands don't have that. Even if you're talking about all time greats such as Floyd or Zeppelin. I will admit, the only time I was slightly underwhelmed by one of their albums was The King of Limbs but even that isn't a "bad" album. It just felt incomplete after 4 years.

That's what happened to me as well. After a while you'll be wanting to listen to other stuff as well. I got to the point where I couldn't even appreciate "simple" music. It took me about 1 - 1.5 years to get past that point and after that I started looking for other music again. For another 2 years I wasn't into radiohead THAT much (still liked it very much), but I started appreciating other stuff again (luckily). Now I find myself listening to Radiohead and the other music as well.

Dick Durstin Although that might be so, Thom wasn't satisfied with the two songs on this single. TKOL was to be one cohesive, short album as well, and this doesn't fit in very well. 7 minutes is a bit long for a short album x3

    • @evandmarcie6307
      @evandmarcie6307 11 лет назад +5

Dick Durstin Honestly, The King of Limbs was a huge disappointment to me. It's not that the album was BAD, per se, but it was entirely immemorable and, frankly, it doesn't sound like Radiohead anymore. It sounds exactly like The Eraser in every way. This is coming from a devoted fan who was introduced to RH as a very young child. I LOVE Radiohead, but I can't stand this dissonant crap. If I wanted to listen to IDM, I wouldn't be listening to Radiohead.

being a huge radiohead fan, i hate to admit it, but some of the comments are absolutely correct on here. when each of their albums have been released, at first I really don't like the album, then it becomes my favorite for a period of time, then it gets archived in with all of their other greatness. KOL is no different (except maybe the length of the album). right now, it is the only radiohead album I want to listen to, but I think I will always have Kid A at the top.

I don't like all the hate on TKOL. The only problem i have with that album is its main single, Lotus Flower. And not that the song is bad, i love it, but it completely doesnt fit in. You have the crazy/(dare i say)feral beginning, then you have the soft/depressing/beautiful ending, and then lotus flower just sits there. That is possibly a flaw of TKOL, besides it being too short. But the comments about Bloom, Feral, Little by Little, man has anyone even listened to little by little??? honestly one of their best songs to date, THAT EPIC BASS

I'm surprised you're not complaining about Separator.
If there's one song that to me stands out as unfitting within the rest of the album, it's Separator. Not necessarily because its style is too different from the other songs, but rather because I don't think it belongs as the album closer.
Now, I've gotten used to it being the closing track, and I see now that it is a pretty good end song. But after Give up the Ghost...? Give Up the Ghost is a really nice song that could've ended The King of Limbs on as beautiful a note as almost every other Radiohead album, but instead the album keeps going afterwards.

Not for everyone. People listen to music for different reasons. To connect to it on an emotional level, wanting catchy sounds or beats, wanting something different, wanting a good singer (or guitarist, drummer, etc.), or wanting to be impressed by the complexity. Everyone has different styles of sounds in music they like as well. Maybe muse fits someone, why should you tell them they suck? It's your opinion, it doesn't matter. Radiohead is so good cause they fit so many categories of good music.
