That smock gets good reviews. I've never held one. Spyderco as a company really makes some classic all around great knives for a responsible price (pre inflation times ... Right now everything is getting absurd). And that Spydie hole is just really functional. Congrats on your purchase and thanks for watching and commenting!
@@KnifeFeind I wasn't a huge fan of the Manix 2 in G10, but I'm in the minority on that opinion. I do have a video on the Manix 2 and why I think it's hype, and that video gets people upset with me 😂. It's under my Spyderco playlist
Great overview! It’s an oddball- small size, big presence. I get what you mean about being more discerning in adding to the collection. Glad you’re enjoying it. 👊
I just can't carry everything and I already have my favorites, so something has to be special to enter the rotation. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Not my cup of tea but that Stitch is on my list and some people may think me crazy for that ! Enjoy and keep trying new stuff. That’s the beauty of this hobby. We can always trade or sell what doesn’t suit us anymore.
Thank you for watching and this is very true. I can't tell you how many knives I thought would go one way but went the other. This knife is so different that I'm not sure how I would get tired of it. I think I would get rid of one of my 45 20CV frame locks that are almost identical to each other first before I got rid of this one. But I've eaten my words before bahaha. And that Stitch is the bomb! Thanks again.
@@appalachianadvrider 👍 I will watch some of your other videos. Found your motorcycle vid while looking for Bradford 3.5 info. Enjoy your format/ style.
What make it not such a great carry for you? I have limited experience with it but it goes in and out of the pocket really well, I don't mind the weight (for me it's one of my lighter knives), and it functions really well
Short heavy compared to my nicer knives Chris reeve - medford slim midi - Rosie - microtech - felt like it would fall out- don't get me wrong one of the best action s and great material - but for the money I put it towards a better carry
The knife is a pocketable serotonin booster. Is it the most functional, of course not, but just feeling it in your hand and working that effortless action, not to mention the awesome look just makes this knife amazing to me. It has a permanent spot in my collection.
I'm a big knife and firearms collector of all types...old vintage, custom, modern, fixed blades, unique specimens, folders, etc. I like the Stovepipe...but 420 bucks for a small blade is a bit much...if it was larger...I'd get it
I don't ever talk about value, because some people think anything over let's say $40 is too much. But I agree that the price is too high, and that's why I never purchased it when it was first released. And now it's $448!. But I picked it up used and for $340. Thanks for watching and commenting!
The clip works great, And if the knife is the only thing in your pocket it works well. But you're absolutely right in the sense that it's not really designed for function. That rhino horn at the top of the knife is out of place in terms of being in the pocket lol. Right now I'm really digging this knife
@@Robert_Thomas832 I love talking about knives so no worries lol. I should be thanking you, so thank you for watching and commenting :-) I love a wharncliffe blade, so I already liked that about it. It's certainly an acquired taste though. Sometimes you want a hot dog over a hamburger, and I love the variety this brings to the rotation.
I'll never understand the people why paid $448 for this. You can find a Sergey Rogovits Rhino for like $50 more if you look. Idk what the Stovepipe is going for now, but they were going for ~$275 recently on the secondary, and that feels closer to the right price, IMO. Once you really discover _your_ preferences, you end up buying less knives, but getting more enjoyment from them. Thats where im at, right now.
I didn't see any at that $275 price. There were a bunch of factory reconditioned Stovepipes that Spyderco sold for $220. But yeah, it was overpriced. Price and conversations of value aside, I think this knife is awesome.
Now that's a great deal! This past black Friday? I thought there were so few sales this year in black Friday ... Bummer I missed that one. I think I'll go on clearance before it'll go up in value, because it's a small expensive knife with a wild design, so it's not going to sell that well. And things that don't sell well when they come out means there is low distribution and the potential to increase later. But I don't care if it goes up or not, I just wanted it. I carry mine though it doesn't matter if it goes up or not because mine's not going up lol
Did I butcher that word in the video? I am assuming that is what you are talking about? I know how to pronounce that word correctly, so I had a 50/50 chance of not slurring it in the video :-)
@@jeffrey-ye9qv yeah same here! I got a factory refreshed knife, so I had no issues with breaking out my Dremel and polishing compound and smoothed out all the pointy spots lol. It's really smooth now!
@@KnifeFeind Brand new it sells for $448 now. I purchased it preowned for $340 - so not cheap. The quality is there but value is subjective. I like having a knife that's completely different than anything else.
I disagree, but I do agree that it's not for everyone. Have you ever used a YoJimbo 2 or another wharncliffe blade in that choked up position? It's really good. But I do understand people not liking it. There are so many great choices in knives out there that people can get what they like. I really appreciate you watching and commenting though.
@appalachianadvrider it's fine its just not near worth the ask. Iv handled all of them... this one is also very back seat weighted and kinda can't do a real pitch grip... looks nice ... but that's about all.
@@markw7303 absolutely. There is nothing wrong with you looking what you like.
