Their appearance on 'Midnight Special' coincided with the release of "Fleetwood Mac" , the bands 1st album with new members Lindsey Buckingham & Stevie Nicks , so the audience for the most part have no clue who Stevie Nicks is & Boy do they find out ! The rocket ride to the top started for the Mac around this time 🙂
Stevie Nicks has said exactly the same thing about music, live performance and why she needed it in her life. She would totally approve of your reaction.
What an incredible group of musicians. I always loved that slight vibrato and raspiness in Stevie's voice. That's what makes her one of the most iconic voices in Rock.
This performance really emphasises just how good the whole band were. The emphasis is often on Stevie and Lindsey as they were generally front of stage but the keys and backing vocals of Christine and the rhythm section of Mick and John are and we’re always crucial to their sound. Sheer brilliance whether in the studio or live.
Love your comments at the end. Right on man. I was in junior high when this came out but I've been following you for a long time, and you really do get it I think. You have to understand that we had very few women role models back then in the Rock scene. And being a musician of decades and a musicologist therefore, I mean I go all the way back Kitty Wells, Wanda Jackson the Queen of Rockabilly, Suzi Quatro from Detroit and Leather Tuscadero on the immensely popular 70s television show, Happy Days; Joan Jett; it's just a line that flows through, and Stevie Nicks ends up being a huge part of it. She epitomized tough-chick but still emotional, just cool as hell rocking out but alternating with being vulnerable. But let's certainly not overlook Christine McVie, a core part of the band for a long time, and she was an incredible songwriter and a very talented singer and keyboardist. Check out the original studio cut from the iconic Fleetwood Mac album, Rumours,
Also, imagine having to wait until midnight Friday to see stuff like this. Before RUclips, MTV or even cable it was rare to see live rock and roll on broadcast tv
ONE of the things I like best about your reactions is your facial expressions and more specifically is your smile. Genuine, honest and sincere. Cool man, keep doin’ that voodoo you do so well. I love reading non-fiction (mostly history) and I love films (I’m a producer and actor in the local Indy film scene where I live) but those things I could live without. Take my music away and I’m out. Would not, could not live without it.
This is their best perfomance ever! I'm 75 yrs young and still play their greatest hits CD. I have a lot of their vinyl record albums. Love their music. I never get tired hearing their songs. ❤❤❤
Love the Midnight Special! Long before VCR’s and steaming, you actually had to stay up and watch great acts like Fleetwood Mac! If you missed it, hopefully they would replay the episode over the summer!
Lindsey Buckingham doesn't use a pick; instead, he employs fingerpicking. His unique and unorthodox style contributes to his signature sound and solos. Sadly, he's underrated as a guitarist and deserves more love. The Bass kicks ass too. Thanks, Shawn, for playing an excellent song and providing great commentary.
That finger picking gives the guitar that pluck sound. I love it and I'm glad someone else noticed. Technically, perhaps one of the most talented bands...ever.
Stevie is a musical “Goddess” ……I had such a crush on her through the 70’s & 80’s ❤️ still remember the posters of her on my bedroom walls as a teen ❤️ ……..and Farrah !!
Nick's was an extremely emotional, soulful performer. Seeing them live was a different experience. Lindsey and Christine were great singer songwriters as well. The band seems to become one giving 110% behind whoever's song they were playing no matter who is on lead vocal. Great band, very tight, no matter the level of person conflicts going on in the band. Grew up listening to their music. I was 10 going on 11 when this album started charting singles. I believe I was 11 seeing this on TV, when it aired. Lindsay's guitar is masterful, very gifted creative guitar player. Christine could jam with blues keyboard. Some original drum bass combos. Legend. Love.
" Dreams Unwind Loves a State Mind" Saw Fleetwood Mac 3 times 1st time with Bob Welch, next 2 times with Stevie and Lindsay. I saw a lot of concerts and I don't think I ever saw anyone love to play the drums as much as Mick Fleetwood. He is a joy to watch.
You can tell that Stevie was in a band that regularly supported Janis Joplin, eh? I guess by three vocalists you mean Stevie, Lindsey and Christine from this version of Fleetwood Mac. Great though they are, don't forget that FM started out in the 60's with Peter Green as their singer, and one of the greatest guitarists ever. Check out one, more, or all of these: Black Magic Woman, Need Your Love So Bad, Oh Well, Green Manalishi (With The Two Pronged Crown), Albatross, and Man Of The World. You'll not regret it.
If you loved this live version of 'Rhiannon", you will love Fleetwood Macs' "Live version" of "Sisters of the Moon" 1982 Mirage tour, Stevie is almost talking in tongues in 'Sisters of the Moon", it is one fantastic live version ever of Stevie singing in my opinion...
For me, the best version of this song live was from her 1981 White Wing Dove solo tour for her album Belle Donna. She had just finished doing Edge of Seventeen and walked off stage. When the lights came back on, it was just her and the piano playing as she sang the first few lines. Then, the rest of the band kicks in. It is an amazing performance that shouldn't be missed; even if you have to watch it on video.
Yea man, this was definitely the best one, Stevie was on fire that day. I've seen the video a number of times and it just makes you move man, good one Shawn!
Oh man this song is another one that puts me in a **Trance** & OMG i freakin **Luv** EVERYthing ya were saying & agree wholeheartedly **Beautiful Reaction** Thank YOU sucha **Fantastical Reaction** I **Luvd** ALL of IT! & yep she def puts a **Spell* on ya this song IS **Magical** one of my most favs of ALL time **PixieHugz&LuvzALL**
GREAT AWESOME VIDEO ANYTIME YOU CAN GET A ( MIDNIGHT SPECIAL ) CLIP SHAWN!!! 💯😊THAT WAS ONE OF OUR LATE NIGHT SHOWS SHAWN, ALSO THERE WAS ( DON KIRSHNER ) ROCK CONCERT, AMERICAN BANDSTAND, ANYWAY YEAHHH! 👍
Chains from live concert The dance is a must! And to see Lyndsay in action on his guitar I'm so afraid from the same concert is great. Christene does Don't stop, awesome as well. There isn't a bad one in this live concert.
I mean this in the best way...Stevie resembles an English Golden Retriever with their long, feathery coat & big, lovely, expressive eyes 🤍 Especially in this video. I was a kid watching Midnight Special on TV. If a similar show existed today who would perform..?
There are really three distinct eras of Fleetwood Mac with different lineups and singers. This is the more commercially viable version with Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham. In the 1960’s they were predominantly a blues band with a completely different lineup and legendary guitarists: Peter Green and Danny Kirwan. The period inbetween that was more of an art rock/progressive band that had a few great albums but less commercially successful. A great tune from that middle period is “Jewel Eyed Judy”, would be a good one to react to. Thanks for this one, ouststanding live version!
Fleetwood Mac is a different band live. There is power in the songs. Saw them in 1975 and 1977 and at the first concert I was not expecting them to sound like they did. The 75 show was in Cleveland Stadium overpowered the whole crowd. Especially Rhiannon.
Thank you for doing this version ! Please do Ted Nugent CAT SCRATCH FEVER Live from Mid Night Special and REO ROLL WITH THE CHAGES from Mid Night Special. all great performance !
Their whole 19 minute Midnight Special performance is worth checking out guys. So good !

3 lead singers right there... Stevie, Lindsey and Christine all wrote and sang their own songs.
Stevie Nicks has said exactly the same thing about music, live performance and why she needed it in her life. She would totally approve of your reaction.
Yes, this is the best version
What an incredible group of musicians. I always loved that slight vibrato and raspiness in Stevie's voice. That's what makes her one of the most iconic voices in Rock.
John McVie made that band what it was with that driving bass line. Totally underrated bassist.
Saw this on the Midnight Special, back in the 70’s! I still get goosebumps every time I see it ❤
Just about anything from their "Rumours" album will trip your trigger.
Now we are talking !!!! LIVE - Midnight Special !!! YESSSS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"This is why humans found music and kept it going." Love that!

👍on the philosophy, Shawn! I liked what you said. This performance has a way of weaving a web that ensnares everyone.

Oh my gosh I had the best music growing up as a teenager
It's a feeling that you don't get anymore in today's music they're leaving out the soul their Auto tuning out the emotion
I remember seeing this on the Midnight Special, having never heard Fleetwood Mac before, like it was yesterday.
Still mesmerized and in love with this beautiful and mysterious woman. This is my favorite performance of this song.
This is their best perfomance ever! I'm 75 yrs young and still play their greatest hits CD. I have a lot of their vinyl record albums. Love their music. I never get tired hearing their songs. ❤❤❤
Silver Springs live from the Dance video. One of the best live performances on RUclips.

Boy did the girls style their hair like Stevie. Overnight. Farrah Fawcett's hair as well.
Stevie is a musical “Goddess”

……..and Farrah !!
Early Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch performing 'Hypnotized' (written and compsed by Bob as well, 1973 album release is best (or 2018 remastered)).
Try early Fleetwood Mac, "Oh Well(long version)", "Hypnotized(if you haven't yet)". Others can suggest more songs from then

Fleetwood Mac wow this is pretty cool! Seen them many times. Only seen the classic line up once.
Yea man, this was definitely the best one, Stevie was on fire that day. I've seen the video a number of times and it just makes you move man, good one Shawn!

Stevie was magnificent here.
This is SN at very best!! She's almost possessed during this performance.
Amazing performance! Thanks to listening to your followers, Shawn!! 🙂
Hope Lindsey Buckingham is on your 3 people list, crazy GOAT writer and guitarist there! Thanks for reaction!!
There are four lead singers in Fleetwood Mac .Stevie, Lindsey and Christine . . and Peter Green from early in the band
Chains from live concert The dance is a must! And to see Lyndsay in action on his guitar I'm so afraid from the same concert is great. Christene does Don't stop, awesome as well. There isn't a bad one in this live concert.
Thanks for your reactions! As someone who grew up with this music I am hearing it now in a different way!! 💙👵🏼✌🏼
Such a beautiful haunting melody
great reaction and comments!
This performance is beyond awesome. Love, love this song!
HARDY - wait in the truck (feat. Lainey Wilson) (Official Music Video)......UNBELIEVABLE video (gotta do official video before a live version)
Ms Stevie... Love her today can't handle it!
I don’t think there has been a band that was that internally dysfunctional with sex and drugs, that put out better music than Fleetwood Mac
LOVE THE MAC.
Music is the spark.
Great reaction! Listen the song "Why" also on the Midnight Special
I enjoy you and your channel so much!❤
🌸 happy Friday,Shawn!!
Great song and reaction
They were all going fast here, lol.
Stevie is a beast. Straight up.
I mean this in the best way...Stevie resembles an English Golden Retriever with their long, feathery coat & big, lovely, expressive eyes 🤍 Especially in this video.
I was a kid watching Midnight Special on TV.

Tite one brother! ☘️🇺🇲
YOU SHOULD DO BLACK MAGIC WOMAN BY FLEETWOOD MAC WITH PETER GREEN ON LEAD VOCALS IT IS IN MY OPINION THE BEST THING THEY EVER DID.
Ah yes, live versions, all your favorites only faster
The best version is the live show , White wing dove tour
Proof they didn't need a dozen people in the band to make a great sound.
Shawn, Im not sure if you have reacted to white winged dove by Stevie Nicks but if not its a banger and the live chicago version is awesome
Thank you for doing this version ! Please do Ted Nugent CAT SCRATCH FEVER Live from Mid Night Special and REO ROLL WITH THE CHAGES from Mid Night Special. all great performance !
You should listen to Christine mc vie sing. Her song you make loving fun is great
