Yoshi didn't even jump lol. He walked off and directional airdodged immediately.
I haven't played every smash game (only 64) but I out of the ones I have played, 4 has the easiest cpus. I beat them easily. I lose more to melee cpus, but some of those cpus are easier than smash 4. Those ones just don't work. Brawl's cpus I remember as a nightmare. Last time I played brawl before a meth or crack user stole it from my family was at a point I could easily defeat lvl nines in smash 4. Yet I lost almost every time. Smash ultimate is second hardest. They tech and perfect shield ridiculous stuff in a way that is a bit unfair. I still beat them often, but still lose quite a bit.

I think I have a theory on why the Bowser A.I. likes to single jump so many times and rarely double jumps.
Because Bowser has a frame 8 jumpsquat in this game (which would be the case until Ultimate), the A.I. isn't programmed correctly on the timings for his double jump. The Bowser A.I. would input a double jump in the middle of his jumpsquat frames, and because buffering isn't a thing until Brawl, the double jump input gets eaten up.
It is just a theory, so take it with a grain of salt.

Seems very unlikely, the A.I. doesn't input double jump until at least a few tenths of a second after the character becomes airborne most of the time. I really doubt a 2-frame difference in jumpsquat is to blame for bowser missing timing and characters like ganon and DK not having this issue.
@@TheMightyGiantDad Could be probably that the theory was true, Ganon has frame 6 jumpsquat and DK it's frame 5, so for that 2-3 frames could be a possibility

If I recall correctly, it is only Level 9 Luigi that refuses to use Up B. Every other level AI uses it normally except 9.

No. It doesn't matter what level the CPU is set to. If it is Luigi, he will absolutely never use Up+B to recover, even if he is point blank at the ledge.

Been playing Smash since 99. The first thing I noticed about Ultimate is that the AI is incredible compared to the earlier games. I'm seriously impressed with it so far.

God, those AI's are incredibly stupid when the stage has a hole in the middle. Try fighting Level 9 Captain Falcon in Yoshi's Island. There's a big chance he will do a Side B and get an instantaneous SD.
CPU Captain Falcon always believes that down throw into Raptor Boost is a true combo, even near the ledge.

4:15 I love this behaviour, the AI can't move while the player is not moving, because not moving is an advantageous state compared to anything else (walking, dashing, shielding, being in the air... Or worse, being in hitlag)

This has nothing to do with it, why are there so many likes?
You can attack in that spot, just never leave this spot. This is used for some Cruel Melee High Scores. As long as no CPU stands in this plattform and you stand on the edge, the AI will just stand there. I can't find a perfect explaination, but yours doesn't sound right, since it only happens at that spot.
Since this can also happen in a few few stage with walkable offscreen zones (like being close to the edge at MK), maybe the AI assumes that this one spot is also close to the killscreen, but idk.
Standing still is not what triggers it, otherwise this would be possible everywhere.

You didn't mention how if you spam foxs laser on a flat stage the CPU will shield and have their shield broken
Also if they are airborne and a Fox Laser is coming their way they will airdodge, guess that 1% damage really matters

It should be noted that the lasers that do get shielded are powershielded, reflecting them and dealing damage to Fox. That's at least something.

One weird thing I’ve noticed is that if you spam fox laser from the opposite side of the stage the cpu will always shield until their shield gets broken, at least until certain levels

Although it was prepatched, it might be hard to find some examples
I'm sure the only A.I changes were to the 'unlocking' battles. Lvl 9 CPUs are just as easy/difficult as I remember them being beforehand.
They weren't hard, people were just bad. And they toned down the unlock character CPU level once again because people were bad because the game just released

I almost forgot about Bowser's history with back problems.
It's impressive that problems like these were almost completely fixed in ultimate for over double of the characters.

You left out that if AI Kirby uses Stone in the middle of Hyrule Temple he'll just slide down to his death.
Lol i use to give my little brother a handicapped match on temple with lv 9 ai as partner but i always chose kirby because of that.
That's not entirely the CPU's fault. You can only cancel Kirby's down special when you're not moving. The CPU only fails to realize that it will never stop moving.

Smash 64 was not "fine." Every CPU walks left and right at the beginning of a match and will not respond until this is over, Donkey Kong will use his recovery onstage most all times even when it will guarantee a self-destruct, Kirby and Jigglypuff misuse jumps, Captain Falcon wil usually never use Falcon Dive a second time to recover and they ALWAYS refuse to recover if you turn your back to them, no matter what level they are set to. All the CPUs spam their projectiles as well. The only ones that don't do this...are the ones that lack projectiles entirely. Link is the absolute champ at this as he will use projectiles even when they can't be activated or performed.
D'onte Graves, you’re right the CPUs are not that much better but I do know that donkey kong uses his Up-Special on stage because it has a frame one start up, this is also used in competitive tournaments as it is his quickest option and is his equivalent to fox and falco’s “Shine” in melee. His Up-Special may also result in him self destructing while on stage often because in the cool-down frames while landing back on the ground his aerial momentum and speed stays with him so it is easier for him to slide off the stage while attempting to land. As for everything else you stated I can agree with.
All level 9 CPUs proceed to JV6 themselves with Falco being the only outlier.
