Who noticed the BNSF 4449?? That locomotive was part of an excursion the Southern Pacific 4449 GS-4 did in a BNSF paint scheme for something. BNSF 4449 was hooked up behind the Southern Pacific 4449 for the tour.
E bells are felt to be more reliable and there is no mechanical component to replace or maintain, so the RR will continue to go with e bells on equipment and crossings.
E bells are more reliable. I Like both e bells and mechanical Bells. UP reasently has been fixing mechanical bells out here. They fixed this one before then it stopped working again. I was hopping they would keep the mechanical bells here so the freight side would have a mechanical bell and the light rail side would have e bells.
Nice. Wow I remember when I was super excited when the SACRT light rail was going to cross this crossing I was expecting the dead annoying mechanical to get replace by then.
Thanks! I was to. Even though the bell use to die then also it was in better shape back then. before the light rail started coming across the crossing it use to take 8 months for it to die. Then when the light rail started going through the crossing it dropped to about 2 to 3 months to die. The light rail wore the bell out more and as of now it takes 3 weeks after its been fixed for the bell to die.
Interesting. A pair of red traffic signals that I'm assuming will flash along with the crossing signals? A gate is installed on the mast for the new Regional Transit's side of the crossing, but not in operation or connected up to UP's tracks yet. Same with the gateless mast sans crossbuck on the north side of Meadowview for pedestrians. Usually if a signal isn't in operation yet, the lenses will be covered up or adjusted inward so drivers & pedestrians don't get confused. And crossing gates aren't installed yet if not in operation.
UP and SACRT were both inside their relay cases hooking all the signals up. I hope that means the new signals will be active soon and the old UP signal is going down. The work at this crossing is very interesting. There's another pair of those yellow flashers also on the other side of the crossing behind the power poll were the gate-less mast signal is at. The only time I seen yellow flashing signals that flash with the crossing at the crossing is some crossings on FEC freight lines in Florida that I seen on videos. Then theirs also a sign signal in the middle of the tracks that I don't know if it's going to flash train coming or just flash the yellow tram on it like they have in Downtown. I think the reason they only installed the mast of the new cantilever is so people can still see UPs cantilevers overhead lights until they take that down then they will install the new overhead. The new crossings on Franklin Blvd, Center Parkway, and Cosumnes River College entrance look great. Franklin Blvd and CRC entrance both are double cantilevers on one side just like Watt Ave and Sunrise Blvd Instead of a whole bridge cantilever.
Railfan Cali UPRR In the Denver, CO area with their light rail (RTD), safety is also a big concern and at all the crossings, there's also a single flashing 12-inch yellow traffic signal on top of a yellow sign that says "high-speed train approaching" on the left side of the road for pedestrians, whereas most places throughout CA, wherever there are passenger express trains have gateless mast signals with electronic bells on the left side of the road.
Nice...!! A SacRT Light Rail Train is already in place and testing on the new Blue Line extension to Cosumnes... I hope you'll catch it on recording camera video... :)
I was hoping UP wouldn't replace the Mechanical Bell on the signal by me but now it stopped working again so most likely their going to replace it now. I wish it would stay.
Some crossings with Mechanical Bells and Electronic Bells mixed together do sound good. I like the WCH Mechanical Bells mixed with GS Type 2 E-Bells which this crossing would have been probably if the bell didn't die.
Aaron Long Unfortunately, that's how it is across the nation for almost any city's light rail or commuter train crossings. Mechanical bells end up getting replaced with e-bells.
This line is owned by UP so their are UP Intermodal stack trains that come through but they are hard to catch. Theirs more BNSF trains that come through here then UP trains. But until 2010 their use to be a lot of UP Intermodal trains that came through with the BNSF trains. But UP traffic decreased on this line.
carbon2983 I think that's why these cantilevers, gate bases, & arrangement (cantilever in front) & mechanical bell on top; I think that's why they may have been installed by BNSF & manufactured by their mfrs (if I'm not mistaken).
Great Catch of that BNSF 766
Thanks!
New signals work at this crossing now.

Nice update, and good looking power!
***** Thanks!
Nice catch! It's too bad that mechanical bell died, I will miss both.

Railfan Cali UPRR what town do you live in

Thanks!
No prob!

Thanks! I hope I catch it too.
I think the warbonnet 766 and BNSF 4449 is the same number as the steam locomotive by SP
Wow they put a new Railroad and the metro line too
Nice One BNSF Power
I'm going to miss those Mechanical bells. I wish they could stay.
I was hoping UP wouldn't replace the Mechanical Bell on the signal by me but now it stopped working again so most likely their going to replace it now. I wish it would stay.
Railfan Cali UPRR some e bell and mechanical bell combinations sound beautiful

Railfan Cali UPRR the mechanical bell and wch e bell on calvine sounds beautiful

Why don't they just put the other M bell on this side. It seems to be fine.
Aaron Longer
Like I said, they should use the other m bell to replace the dead one at Medowview Road. Just put it were the dead one was.
I wish they would do that.
Yeah. Besides it would save money from them having to buy a new e bell
It could all be fixed by not using quiet zones.
Yeah. Light rail was extended past this crossing that's why theirs new signals.
Nice!
Thanks!
Can you check out my new video?
Nice war bonnet
+surukalo Thanks!
a baretables comes back a stack train or intermodal
carbon2983 Stack Train/Intermodal. But BNSF Intermodal Stack Trains don't come down this line. Only as Baretables.
Railfan Cali UPRR as union pacific intermodals and stack trains

Railfan Cali UPRR bnsf has no tracks near sacramento.they use union pacific's
