Is this game worth getting without the dlcs? I've been looking into it and it's like 30 usd on steam right now but more like 100 for all the dlcs. I'm not gonna get all the dlcs so is the base game worth it? Are there any mods that are DLC exclusive?
The sanguophage start is just amazing. The human partner dies and the vampire has to survive alone, needs to go into death rest so he enslaved a visitor trader but then couple hours into deathresting the slave decides to escape and as he's escaping, a fox hunts him and eats him whole.(also i implanted the vampire genes into the slave so he could take care of raids while the big daddy rests{also the slave is a 12 year old child 💀}) Turns out sanguophages actually aren't immortal, i watched as the fox tore him limb from limb as he lay down powerless and pitiful. After his death, a raid happens and i had to force stop the big daddy from deathresting, he attacks the 3 raiders and takes care of 2 with his sword but then goes into forced deathrest because of lethal damage. He gets kidnapped and i watch as he gets Carried off the map. Who do i have left in the colony?...A CHICKEN 🐔.
Thank goodness. I was honestly starting to think my experiences with rimworld were the exception and I just suck at the game. Now I understand that the story tellers hate us all👍🏻
Friend made a Redditor Xenotype with all negative traits and embarked on an Ice Sheet, everything rapidly deteriorated and the cherry on top was some visitors left 4 gold as a present.
An important thing missed here is the xenotype injector organ. It allows you to pass xenotypes to your colonists. This allows you to roleplay vampires or some crazy girl who bites people and gives them purple hair and horns. The other important thing is hemogenic trait which opens up blood-based powers. Including setting up prisoner blood banks.
Seriously! When you look at this DLC vs royalty, ideology or base rimworld tje difference is huge!!! Honestly I can see rimworld going like this for a long time if they keep up the good work like this.

If you're asking the devs to stop working just so you don't have to update mods you're delusional Second: all the mods worth a damn got updated within a week of the DLC coming out AND Steam handles the updating part automatically. If you're using GOG there's even a dedicated mod updater to avoid using SteamCMD manually. You're whining for 0 reason Third: because a mod dev did it doesn't mean the actual devs can't, there's not even an argument here Fourth: there is literally 0 stolen from modders, the new content was built from the ground up. Ofc it will have similarities with mods because there's mods for everything AND the modders had good ideas just like the devs Fifth:Biotechnology was part of Rimworld's lore since the early days, if anything the modders copied the idea Sixth: gene manipulation and servant robots where a very popular concept, hence why mods related to it where so popular. So obviously the devs will give people what they want You're also compeltely missing the point that modders are taking the already made game as a base for their content, mods are not made from the ground up, they use the game as a base to develop their content

@@ekuda There are some mods I can't live without, like quality of life mods such as Replace Stuff and Common Sense, or mods that add stuff I think it should be in the base game, such as Dub's Bad Hygiene and some Vanilla Expanded mods.
@@OhNoTheFace Some portion of the damage from the hellsphere cannon isn't fire, I'm pretty sure most of the impact damage isn't but I'm not sure on that. Source: I've gestated my own in a mechanitor run and it's very good at demolishing centipedes and the boss mechanoids.

I started with a Sanguinophage paired with a highmate. I set up a fluid ideologeon based on human primacy and had a charity desire. A charity child-in-need quest came where a baseliner 3 yr old was being hunted by a furry, so my sanguinophage stabbed the furry with his broadsword and finished him off as lunch. Now my vampire and his bioengineered waifu are a wholesome family with an adopted daughter and a biological daughter.
The blood drinkers have unique structures and deathrest which I think deserved to at least be mentioned, were they missed or forgotten? Or am I high. They are a bit more than just genetic modifications with how drastic the changes are
Tynan didn't say it, but in reality, he's just setting up the ground for a Warhammer 40K roleplay. Like, all DLCs have something in common with Warhammer. I'd really like to know if he's a fan of 40K.

Just got biotech, started a new colony, didn't have any babies for about 2 ingame years, then my first rimbaby was born and the first trait it developed was pyromaniac 😂
Not until we have Preston as a storyteller. Everytime you complete a quest he hears about another colony who needs your help, and he marks it on your map.
there's really nothing helpful or new in this video, it isn't even really a guide. You could've learned the same information yourself in less time reading the devblogs they released prior to the DLC release.
Honestly, as much as I have been dreaming of official versions of Robotic, Bioengineered, and Vampiric colonists, the thing that really sold biotech for me is the simple fact that the children don't have any plot armor. It treats them like regular colonists rather than indestructible set dressing that can barely be interacted with. *cough*Bathesda*cough*

Personally i hope they add a armor stand system and a specific gear for certain rooms system. That way if a colonist needs to go somewhere poluted they automatically put on a gas mask if that area was specified to only be accesible with ____ this or ____ that. Itd just make the game so much less micro managed.
I liked ideology don't get me wrong, but it felt like it was.... Depth bait? I guess? It looked like something thatd make the game much more indepth but it didn't really feel that way This one looks promising
One of biggest things in DLC i would say is that you can skip need to cook completly and heavily reduce food needs of pawns. Still gene system is very buggy and offen has no sense at all in regards to mood modifiers. With a parka moded for cold pawns have i think somewhere around -80c tolerance. Still get sleep in the cold modifier.
I'm really curious about how many mods are compatible or become redundant with this DLC since there are quite similar additions that resemble the existing popular mods (Misc androids, autocleaner, more races, and that one vanilla expanded that let you tinker with genes, etc.) Anyway, nice vid as always!

Tbh, while the concepts for those mods are the same as the DLC, the execution is different - definitely for VE Genetics insofar as I can personally vouch for it. Some mods might change their system to become reliant on Biotech (though many modders want their mod to remain available to those who don’t own DLC), but I’m genuinely confused at people who think mods like VE Genetics and Pawnmorpher are completely redundant now when they work quite differently from Biotech. It’s fun to have the different systems!
Pretty strange this DLC encompasses two kinds of bodily fluid drinkers (babies and vampires). Wouldn't surprise me if next time they add the third kind of fluid drinker
I want to make a city with multiple walls, sort of like Attack of Titan or Ba Sing Se. The innermost part is where the kids, school and nursery are at, next is the hospital and crafting rooms, third ring are where the adults and animals live at, finally the outermost ring has crops and defenses
Are you talking about the toxic generators? If you are, they only grow toxicity in a certain radius (they don’t require tox packs), and when the area becomes full of pollution, it actually shuts itself off. Tox packs themselves don’t actually generate any power by themselves and just make pollution when they are destroyed.
@@courier6960 the packs release more toxicity which can generate more packs after the area is cleaned, possibly resulting in an endless supply with no extra input.

New player to the game, I bought the DLC only because I found it baffling the fact that raising kids in hell was not a thing in the base game, I just love the idea of growing your colony on your own. It also improves the social aspect between pawns.

For a hivemind colony get Vanilla Ideology expanded and choose Gestalt (shared mood) You can also pair it with Insectoid primacy for insectoid pets and the ability to make your own nests (albeit very slowly with 1 every 20 days) which don't expire Anonimity meme can be good too if you don't want your colonists forming relationships at all and being mindless drones I tried a hivemind colony with the addition of Vanilla psycasts and used the Mind Break cast to turn most pawns into mindless slaves (don't need to sleep but they can't do any skilled work) for the queen. It was pretty cool. I ended up using all my saved up silver to buy all the psychic neuroformers and psycasts i could and turned the queen into a psychic monster
EPOE archo tech organs and limbs, super powers from ancients expanded, psylink from royalty, god emperor from ideology, this, archotech war caskets from...war casket expanded,go juice, luciferum, yayo, all of this makes you a literal archo tech being

For a hivemind colony get Vanilla Ideology expanded and choose Gestalt (shared mood)
You can also pair it with Insectoid primacy for insectoid pets and the ability to make your own nests (albeit very slowly with 1 every 20 days) which don't expire
Anonimity meme can be good too if you don't want your colonists forming relationships at all and being mindless drones
I tried a hivemind colony with the addition of Vanilla psycasts and used the Mind Break cast to turn most pawns into mindless slaves (don't need to sleep but they can't do any skilled work) for the queen. It was pretty cool. I ended up using all my saved up silver to buy all the psychic neuroformers and psycasts i could and turned the queen into a psychic monster

Same here, actually had to clear out my mods because Rimworld suddenly wouldn't even boot up
then use character editor 1.4, its fan updated, im using 170 mods and the game still works
