  • After a lot of teasers on this project, we have finally finished the breakdown on one of our most extensive project to date.
When it comes to emergency response vehicles the go-to are big vans with lots of gear... let's change it up.
The Mercedes-Benz Unimog U5023 is the ultimate offroad vehicle that has a list of capabilities that puts it above all. Now pair that with an Emergency Response vehicle that is specifically built to take on flood waters. The end product is exactly what this video displays.
Unidan worked closely with Public Safety Training and Response Group (PSTR) to develop this Mercedes-Benz U5023 that ticked all their boxes, carried all their gear and with some extras.
Let us know your thoughts on this awesome build, we will be developing the next stage for PSTR which will be their 'Fire Response' body that can be swapped with the 'Flood Relief' body displayed in the video.
Thinking of getting your own Unimog for the commercial industry? Unidan is here to make your needs a reality, contact us for more information.
Universal solutions for off-road transport and expedition vehicles.

You need to go out and see what SES volunteers do, you'd be welcome and you may look good in orange overalls. Maybe not in the Eastern States like Qld where everything is relatively close, within 2 hours drive but say WA where a deployment may be a full days drive to nothing, likely a harsh environment, likely beyond helicopter range. Where you have to take everything you need or make do when you don't, everything needs to be reliable and safe, you won't know if it is 1 day or 5 before the job is done or you are swapped out or rested.
The switchable bodies are very nice. The load carrying is very nice. A "toy hauler" would be nice for a big alloy tough flood boat, a floating stretcher for extraction down a barely passable river able to be carried out of a gorge, or a UTV or two used for searches or ferrying supplies/casualties to and from remote base. A cliff rescue is very different from a flood, from a land search or coastline search, a cyclone damage or supporting the bush firies. The key is different load outs for different scenarios, maybe an hour to prepare, assemble the team and go, sometimes into the unknown with only a vague clue. A spot on the map and rough idea of the terrain and conditions from a satellite map.
