It wasn't actually a kazoo. The solo on 'You're Sixteen,' which sounds like a kazoo or something, was Paul creating the sound effect. Starr's version remains one of the few No. 1 singles to feature a 'kazoo-sound' solo.
He sounds like your friend would at a bonfire while you play and they’re just in the moment singing. Not glamorous or anything, but prominent and true to his voice. He Carrie’s the songs they got him singing on. Love his stuff, sounds real if that makes sense.
@@philipdickey6460 As it should still be. 16 is legal in most of the world and even most US states. And also it never specifies the age of the singer in the lyrics.
That's Paul McCartney making a kazoo sound with his voice (credited as a vocal sax solo on the album), and Harry Nilsson doing all the background harmonies. ☺
Ringo Starr’s cover version of “You’re Sixteen” (1974) was his second #1 hit as a solo artist. The song was originally authored by the Sherman Brothers, best known for writing Disney classics such as “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” (1964) and “It’s a Small World” (1964). Ringo got considerable help from his friends on this : Harry Nilsson (backup vocals), Paul McCartney (kazoo solo), John Lennon, George Harrison, Rick Danko, Levon Helm and Marc Bolan… WORTH MENTIONING… By today’s standards, it would be unthinkable to release such a tune, since it is a criminal offence 🚫 for an adult to have a love affair with a teenager… OTHER TIMES, OTHER MORES‼️ 💚🎶💙
George played the guitar for Ringo a good few times. But when Ringo sent the tapes of this song to Paul to ask him to play some sort of solo, what he got was the kazoo! LOL! And it WORKED!
funny a friend ofm mine has 8 sibilings including him and this was in a stack of records I wonder who bought it? SISTER? he has only 2 other brothers and him. I have it but there house burned down

so cheap compared to the original Johnny Burnette version
Ringo is the ONLY solo Beatles album to produce 2 #1 singles.
Anytime they got Ringo to sing, I was vibing. He had the personality of a regular dude in his vocals.
Heard this song 1st time in 78. I loved it because I had just turned sixteen.
Couldn't wait to fall in love.
Words of this song fit exactly to what took place the night i met my wife of now 49yrs., the only difference is she was 23 yrs. old👍
You are so lucky you are still ❤ together
One of my favorite Ringo Starr tunes.
Ringo is so underrated, was awesome at so many things.

元ビートルズのメンバーで、一番歌が上手いのがリンゴです。
この曲は、日本では「想い出のフォトグラフ」に続くヒットとなりました。
I LIKE THIS ONE RINGO . xo me
I had no idea this song was written by the Sherman Brothers, who wrote probably hundreds of famous Disney songs for many, many years.
Good
Honoring two great bros, their lyrics. And Ringo. But of course …
Not a bad song cover from Ringo Starr
Vastly superior to the original.
