Once upon a time, the rule in 'big bet' games was that the wager wasn't closed until the "player's hands come to rest outside of the betting area".
When NL became the most popular form of poker and became common at low stakes, the rule was changed because it was prone to abuse. Among high stakes players where a higher degree of ethics is expected, there is some leniency on what constitutes a string bet.

Sammy's comment to Doyle's call on that last hand, while factually correct, was the under sell of the year. No way could the average poker player ever make a call like that. But Texas Dolly was smooth as butter in justifying that he hadn't made a pair all day and he wasn't going to let this one get away. RIP

Anyone know the odds of Sheikhan getting a flush at 4:40 if they had played the hand out? I know that if he needed two clubs, it would be .25 x .25 for a 6.25% chance to get the flush with the turn and the river. But what if it's an "OR" situation rather than an "AND?" (needing just one of the last two cards to be a club) Just for my own knowledge. Thanks in advance

If you look at a lot of Doyle's highlights, he almost always has a monster hand. For someone who doesn't know who he is, they may think that's easy, but one of the reasons why he is a legend is because of how well he plays monster hands like that, where other players would get no action or fold into a wet board.
