The craziest part about the McMichael incident is that he was in the booth talking to Chip and Steve in the bottom of the 7th and Security came into the booth while they were on the air, told him he had to leave and escorted him out of the ballpark. He was like "uhm OK looks like I really have to go - sorry guys!"
I’m here after learning of his ALS diagnosis. So sad. Praying for him

This is why I love baseball: it's "boring" to the lay person, but every time a ball is hit into the field of play, it can be pure chaos. So much fun.

I was in Colorado on vacation so I got to watch this game on the Denver feed. The broadcasters said mongo got tossed but I didn’t get to see that
I was at this game, one of my favorites of all time.
Watched it on tv and this was the greatest vindication game in any sport I ever watched. Angel Hernandez was on another level that night, Mongo being the voice of every Cub fan in attendance and watching their tv sets, the comeback, the crazy finish, and the W. The only game that compares is the 2006 Bears game against the Cardinals.
I remember Chip Caray interviewing him and laughing about this, then after he got tossed from the booth, called McMichael bush league.

Yeah. Sosa had a really good year, overall. But even after they finally acquired McGriff, they never could seem to get enough offense to help out the pitching staff, which (from what I remember) was pretty formidable that season.

I remember watching this game as a kid. Didn't like the initial out call by the umpire, but was ecstatic with the way the Cubs won. Truly amazing.

Ha Ha...the umpire's face is ridiculous after McMichael tells him he'll see him after the game -- It looks like he's going to cry. Not mentioned here but the ump actually ejected him! A glorious pro wrestling inspired moment.

He was an invited guest from the Cubs organization to do the 7th inning stretch “Take Me Out To the Ball Game” … and the umpire can have him ejected from the stadium? That’s nuts. No wonder umpires have inflated egos.
I wish BIG MAC would have gone on the field and do a pile drive on Angel then Joe West could have been in that game and MAC could have done him in too

No,indeed I meant Mark Giengreco.Back in the late 80's and early 90's Giengreco was with NBC and during McMichaels playing days he would join Mark Sunday nights during the football season and talk about the game just like they do today but it's more sophisticated now .Back then every week was a joke at Giengreco's expense.He would'nt pull that shit with Adamlie.He's a former football player and would kick his ass!lol.

How is it possible for the umpire to throw a fan out of the ballpark. This is someone who paid to be there to see the game. This makes no sense to me.
Umps have the authority to eject anyone, and I highly doubt McMichael paid to be there.
I do recall hearing about this but was a Sox fan. The ump looks so ticked, I figured it was a wrestling type staged event. Guess not.

I played baseball into college. It's the funnest sport to play but even I have a hard time watching it. Pace of play has to be dealt with somehow. Quit letting hitters step out anytime they want.
