    Did same repair, simply reheated the exiisting solder without adding any new material worked. This part is extremely tiny (for someone who is not working in electronics every day), I was mildly nervous , but it came out ok, same setup that you are using and going nice and easy is key. My tip setting was around 400 degrees. No additional solder used.

      Yes Sir! I am glad you took your time to reweld and yes it's a delicate fine job. Most importantly is that I was curious enough to actually discover this weird problem... I guess people need to turn that key when cranking with a little less force... 😂 🤣 😁 Maybe they think if they push harder the engine will produce more power! 😭🤣😂😭 Thanks 👍 and good luck🤞

      Most of the time this repair does work. But I have had a few cases when it didn't because simply there was more damage within the electronics and then we needed to replace the EIS. It's very important this repair to be done early when the problems start. Thanks and Good Luck! 👍

      @@projectathos yeah,so I might be one of the few cases where it doesn't work. The issue is still there.once I remove both plugs for few seconds and reconnect them,it starts fine.my main issue when the problem happens while driving.all dash lights come on.the wipers go off randomly and gear selector stops working.I have to stop.but while deceleration,the gearbox shifts down very harshly.
      I think I need a new unit!!

      This repair was done some years back my friend and the car is long gone. Technically I didn't know whether this repair would work but since I know that there are companies that charge upwards of $400 for this repair! The repair did end up working but I didn't pay attention to record the results. I do have another video later with this same repair on another Mercedes and I taped that the car started at the end... Thanks for your support! 🤞💪👍

    I am not gwtting any codes on my ml350 but its the EIS or the key. When turning no dash lights turn on. It lets me turn to try and crank and nothing. We were going to the beach in this car and mechanic is stumped so it looks like we are not at i need to figure this out on my own. Did you get an eis code? Mine is not intermitent it just stopped starting. Im not getting remove key so i think its the key. I do not have a spare.

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  Год назад

      You need to scan the car with a scanner with Mercedes software that reads your car first. Then based on the codes you may get some info what's going on. If you have no codes it sounds like the Ignition Switch itself going bad. I have seen these EIS going bad and not showing codes during the scan so don't rely or expect codes. Follow the mechanism of how these cars work and the modules communicate internally. If it let's you turn but it doesn't start it's not the key but the ignition switch unfortunately... I have seen this situation many times. The electronics inside are not working in the Switch. Does your remote work when you press the buttons? How about the battery in the remote? If it's functioning then it's most likely the EIS. You could ask a mechanic to open the EIS switch and look for broken solders like in this video. If not then you would need to get a new EIS and a New Key programmed to it too at the "Stealership" unfortunately... Sorry again and let me know if I can help you more... Thanks 👍 and Good Luck 🤞

    • @onexsculler

      I did this exact same repair and it totally bricked my GL. It all was very easy, soldering and all but when I reconnected the two plugs to the back of the EIS nothing works. If Michael on EBay can’t bail me out it’s going to be a $1500 bill to get it towed to my dealer and have it up and running.

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  2 года назад

      @@onexsculler Your EIS may have been damaged already or in the process of getting damaged completely. Sorry to hear this... Some of these repairs work sometimes and other times they don't because some things are beyond repair. You may have to get that EIS replaced at the dealer...

    Hi, Could this type of cold joint problem on the EIS cause first cold start problem in cold weather? At which point a lot of Can problems are seen in diagnostic error codes. And then it is corrected by removing the EIS fuse only. If it is the fault of the microprocessor, only the entire EIS-unit needs to be replaced ? @projectathos

    • @projectathos
      @projectathos  11 месяцев назад

      This problem has almost no relation to the weather but keep in mind that solders will come off easier when it's cold. So unfortunately I cannot claim completely that the weather doesn't affect the soldered elements. So there's 50/50 chance it may be the cold weather!
      2. I am sorry but I don't understand your second question/statement. To try to answer it - you cannot erase codes in the Canbus system especially once created by the modules by simply disconnecting a fuse! Sorry but this doesn't work. If it was that easy everyone would be able to fix their cars at home without the need to use those very expensive software programs and scanners that are needed to scan and diagnose Canbus diagnostic codes.
      3. Yes if your EIS is burnt, damaged or whatever else you will need to replace it with a New OEM MERCEDES Part that would need to be programmed by the Mercedes Dealer to your vehicle and your keys! Sometimes you may need to replace your keys with The new EIS because keys are programmed only once.
      Thanks and Good Luck 👍

    • @iraklijorjadze2152
      @iraklijorjadze2152 11 месяцев назад

      I will try to explain it differently, in my case the key does not get stuck, the car starts normally, but in a few seconds it writes the problem of everything ESP, ABS, SRS and only if temperature is under 0 C. so if there is frost. and we determined that EIS is causing it, weird, whether it is more likely to come from the bad soldered some pin or from the microprocessor, because there is a resource on RUclips Where the cold affects the microprocessor, ruclips.net/video/8JTbSrgwbWg/видео.html
      I am afraid of disassemble and damage it because, then we won't be able to reprogram it to a new one @projectathos Eventually I'll have to take it apart and open it up :)
