This concert was performed at Abbey Road Studios on 7th Dec 1989 as a tribute to the late, great DJ Roger Scott who graced the airwaves on Capital Radio and Radio 1.
Presented by Alan Freeman and artists including Cliff Richard, Chris Rea, Mark Knopfler, Dave Edmunds and Mark Germino.
Other better singers have recorded this more professionally. But Mark's is five times more heartfelt, the true sign of blues excellence.
Nobody played like this.
My favourite version. Very soulful, minimalistic, deep and melancholic. And gives a whole new perception to this song

I used to play this song with an old friend of mine, who sadly passed away a few years ago. It usually brings a few tears to the eyes of the listener, when ever it is performed, and Mark does a good job of it, even, as he says himself, is not the man to sing it! Just beautyfull!!

Woww!!! It is a precious record, Mark on vocals in Feel like going home. Mark has a pretty emotional speech, talking about making The Notting Hillbillies album and specially the last song Feel like going home. This song has a very special meaning because Mark wanted Roger to have a listen to it, but sadly passed away before the track was finished and recorded.

Not easy to imagine the narrator....as per what I've read about Mark this doesn't match with him.... anyway it's a sad beautiful song...
Get a listen to Charlie Rich's demo of this song, just Charlie, who wrote the song, and his piano, it's sublime.
I like Knopfler but he is pish at singing this.
