As a native of North Carolina I have just one request. If everyone leaving the state would take just two Yankee's with them, then the rising cost of everything in North Carolina would be alleviated.

I just moved from NC to MI for work!
I do agree the summers are brutal in NC however having lived in Florida for a couple of years nothing is as bad as there for natural disasters.
So far I’m enjoying the spring and slow change of seasons thus far.

I left Michigan 3 years ago for South Carolina. The people here are so friendly and welcoming and the cost of living is so much cheaper, housing being a LOT cheaper. Winters in Michigan are cloudy and gray. In SC, in the winter months, we have one cloudy day every two weeks. In Michigan you have one sunny day every two weeks all winter long. Ideally I wish we could live in Michigan in the summers and in SC in the winters, but we can't afford it, so we put up with the hot and humid summers here in SC.

Eastern North Carolina cities Raleigh, Fayetteville and Wimington have all seen massive growth especially with the elderly population leaving New York, New England, New Jersey and Massachusetts because we have a warm climate year round which is not a surprise and Cities like Raleigh having one of the largest Indian community personally Warm Hot climates are not a problem However Michigan despite the lower taxes is simply too cold for my taste and would take Florida or the Carolinas any day. Yeah we do have lots of pollen, Insects and venomous snakes. Oh and Four Seasons for the Raleigh area is a bit of stretch Yes we have very hot longs summers with the hottest weather going from May to October for the rest of the year Fall, Winter and Spring are extremely mild. And if it was not for the Trees losing their leaves(Fall) being dormant (winter) with a slight dusting of wintery mix that happens .01 of days of the year with many years it never snows. We don't even have Snowplows because winter weather is rare. and Spring were trees and plants blossom back to life despite "winter" being relatively warm. But if you hate cold weather and are coming from a place like southern California and don't want change apart from lower Taxes "Which California has the most expensive taxes which is why everyone is leaving California" Then Eastern North Carolina is the perfect place. But as for your video "Good Job" :)

We just relocated from NC back to Mi. to be closer to family according to my wife. The housing market here is so badly over inflated , I'm thinking we have made a terrible mistake . Being retired we cannot afford to make too many this large. This bidding war stuff is just silly and will come back to bight people in the butt eventually.
The weather in the part of NC that we lived in for 17 years ( the Piedmont) has all four seasons, each is usually 12 to 16 weeks long . Never to hot too long , and never too cold too long. We did get the occasional heavy snow fall but it was rare.
The pollen season is the worst we have ever experienced .( Note: we worked in international business and have lived in many other countries ) , you could actually see pollen rolling in waves like a dust storm.
The southern way of looking at things is a bit odd for northern folks , and when you hear " bless your heart" it's not a complement.
As to any benefit of living in Mi. over NC. it remains to be seen.

I always think it's funny when people from the south point out bless your heart isn't meant out of kindness. It sums up why I would never live in the south despite having visited and worked with people down there. I can't stand the passive aggressive fakeness. People from NY can be the complete opposite and there are issue that come with it, but they're honest.

I love the state of Michigan, it’s been home to me for my whole life, otherwise, I wouldn’t have put years of my life into showcasing this state for what it is. I show people the good, bad and ugly, an advertiser doesn’t do that. People find my videos after they’ve decided to move and want to learn more about cities, the atmosphere, things to do, what to know and cost of living from someone currently living in the state. If I was moving states I’d love to have that resource too.

Michigan is the only state east of the Mississippi River I've yet to set foot in ... I did see a video where a guy says it's the most beautiful of all the east of the MS River states but I've seen some beautiful areas all around. Even here in Vermont it's beautiful, green, quiet and safe mostly ... with the Green Mountains running down the center of the state. Our weather is probably a lot like MI but in my area we surely get more snow .... more than southern MI. Our average is about 70 inches per season. I don't mind the snow but the long dark nights and cloudy days are rough at times. Summer is heavenly.

Born in michiana and spent 8 years stationed in the south. Michigan has 2 seasons really, winter and July and not the nicest people especially in the middle of the state. The south has some of the nicest people but in the Deep South the summer feels like you’re swimming in a bowl of soup and there seems to always a hurricane threatening to rearrange the Real estate. Got shot at delivering supplies to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina when I was in the Navy was really my only bad experience in the south.

I'm not a expert, that's for sure but I think all those people moving will cause property values to spike because of the people moving there. It may effect a price hike in other areas as well like food prices and so on. I saw it happen when a bunch of people moved from Cal. to Washington state. So the first people to migrate won't see the effects but as it goes on prices will surely rise because that seems to be the norm. Higher demand always raises prices...

    • @wanted-33
      @wanted-33 4 месяца назад +1

You hit the nail on the head Brandon. People moved to North Carolina because of prices, and that ruined the reason everyone was moving here. That's why I ask for everyone to take a couple Yankees with then if they moved to Michigan. My small County went from 30,000 to nearly 220,000 in a matter of 30 years. A starter home now is $250K, and regular size home starts at $350K+. Our infrastructure is stained, and our taxes went crazy.

I’m 62. Moved to NC after joining the Marines. Lived in coastal North Carolina for about 20 years. Then to Tidewater Virginia for 20 years. Even a brief stint in Maryland and Florida. I recently retired back to northern Michigan. Everything I heard in the video was correct. But for me the real estate saving were much greater. About half. And I actually got a nicer home on 5 Riverfront acres. I lover 3 of the four seasons up here. Except spring. The grey, cool windy, rainy days get kinda old. But once you get past it the weather is much better. Summers and falls are simply spectacular! If you like being outside a lot. Michigan really is great for it. The only downside is that in rural areas there is work. Just not a lot of opportunities if you are younger expecting to build a real career.

I tuned in because I was shocked that people were moving here from there. My first thought was like you said, particular jobs. The word particular is important. Michigan is not the best economic state but it does have particular jobs in the automotive industry people move here for. There are also a number of large companies with heads here. Plus it is now has the leader in mortgages. So, if you want to work in automotive, mortgage, or a corporate head, this might be the place.
I really wondered about the rest but everything you said does make sense. From a natural disaster / environmental hazard standpoint, Michigan has to be one of the safest places on earth. You are unlikely to get eaten, burned, house shaken or blown down, no land slides, few flash floods, weak and few tornadoes and storms in genera. There is plenty of rain to keep things green. There is enough water to not have to fight over it.
That said, SE Michigan is kind of ugly and we have a 4 lane mega highway north out of town for people to escape to beauty on weekends. I call it a mega highway because of how far it extends outside the metro area and is still 4 lanes. Very few rural freeways are 4 lanes, in this world. They aren't even 3 lanes in each direction outside of town. Michigan is the only place I have been where a rural freeway is 4 lanes both ways.

Governor, 14 days to flattened the curve which turned into 3 years, you were not “allowed” to buy seeds, to buy paint, to leave your house only “essential workers” you could not put your boat on lake but her husband could, you could not gather with friends in a bar but she could, tried to throw and 80 year old barber in jail , for cutting hair, put sick Covid patients, in. I share the border with North Carolina in the western part of South Carolina . I know that Michigan offers a lot of beauty , So does the south . In the lowlands of each Carolina it can get brutal hot and muggy , But I am in the west in the piedmont . I like the fact that this area is booming , Crime is low and you can carry a gun at Wal-Mart . Not too liberal here , Neighbors are friendly and we have a diverse demographic. Never locked my car once here , housing is cheap.. What does Michigan produce , What industry ? ,, Is it just GM and Ford and unions . I came from The Peoples Republic of Maryland that only produces crabs and the state is funded by government workers from DC. Expensive to live and insane traffic . SC is growing fast . The winters are mild and not surprising to see 75 degrees on Christmas Day . If it get's cold . It might plummet to 47 for a daytime high in January . If we get snow , that 1/2 " is melted by noon LOL . ,, We can send you some fire ants LOL .

Everything revolves around cars up there was a master auto tech there for ten years.
Michigan will nickel and dime you to death... don't ever get a DUI there either or you will be SORRY.
Property taxes are insane and there is very limited freedom, people are rude and nasty, it's an awful environment, you will not be let into traffic
