Thanks for sharing “from the ocean” as you sailed by my neck of the woods! Crescent City is surrounded by redwoods - Jedediah Smith State Park is north up 199 maybe 20 min.
@@sailingmarmoris They are shaped like caltrops, 4 points, so no matter how it lands it forms a three point base with one point up. The reason they use this shape for breakwaters is that when they are dumped together the pieces interlock making it harder for the waves to shift the wall. Rewatching the footage, the larger/taller shapes are the dolos'es the ones with the shorter legs are tetrahedral.
Enjoying your adventures. I was just going to say that your excursion to visit the awesome Redwoods was worth the trip (wow at 17:13)... and then your bus back was cancelled!? Not cool... sore legs. Yeah, it just isn't right (20:54) that the lady at the seal rescue wouldn't contribute to your salmon rescue project. lol Hope you'll soon have Whale sightings to share.

Haven’t seen Dolos’es in a while. That what we have in South Africa for breakwaters. Great to get another Marmoris Video!
Hey that’s cool that you remember them from South Africa! We did notice the sign said they were developed in SA. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! The walk makes up for all the sitting around on the boat!
Should warn you seals are shark food. Not wise to be in the water with especially further south in great white territory.
We will be super careful to watch for sharks! Thanks for watching!
