I'm 49, i love guitar, i love 90's music, i'd always heard about Dinosaur Jr, i could blame my local radio station for never playing them. .. but holy shit what a fantastic band, the uniquely lyrical guitar playing, i've been fucking obsessed with the way Mascis plays for weeks now, no one like him
I am consistently impressed by this! J's singing..........is what it is, but the guitar work is precise, yet furious! The bass player is basically a 2fer- bass player and rhythm guitar player in one! (3fer? backing vocals too!) and the drummer is absolutely perfect here!
I always thought "Dinosaur Jr formula" was country/folk chords progression with heavy fuzz and punk energy. Thanks for the examples, Guy Clark is my new favorite singer!
i have been listening to Dino JR ever since i saw a add for Your living all over me in thrasher mag in the 80's and decided to buy it going to see them over in dallas tonight WOW can't wait only took me 25 years Henry Rollins needs to go back to black flag!!
@DaytonaBLN It can become classic but not old lol! Man I hope one day I can play like J Mascis. Im a guitarist and have been playing for about 5 years.
no, what it means is that j mascis's voice resonates in his nose more than kurt's did when singing. i don't think it has anything to do with air flow., it has to do with placement. kurt cobain had a really raspy voice because he didn't know how to sing, and also because he did a lot of screaming. don't get me wrong, that was his thing and it was cool, but that's why it was so raspy. kurt has a nasal tone to his voice as well, just not as much as mascis does.
does that mean that the air goes more through his nose than most people when speaking? kurt's raspiness is what J chalked up to nirvana being more radio friendly and hence successful than dino j. even tho kurt thought they both sounded alike
Vocals and certain cleaner parts of J's incredible guitar including the solos have country to them besides the obvious rock n' roll and punk influences. No, I'm not referring to the so called "country" of major "artists" of today. Check out those 70s guys like Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Bobby Bare, early Johnny Paycheck, and Billy Joe Shaver if you haven't already. That's country.
I'm sure the actual performance was great, but this video's picture and audio quality are as bad as it gets. This is not worth watching. No matter how good the performance was, we can't see or hear it.
dusde everyones voice sounds different and as far as musical talent goes Jay played all the instruments on half the albums and Sebedoah Lou's othee band speaks for themselves. You cant possibly draw similarities between Dinosaur and Nirvana 3 -4 chord pop punk til they let a record man make l.p.s for them by telling kurt things like thats what Lennon wouldve done and you guys r the next Zepplin etc.. No wonder he blew his head off. That and the smack and dealing with Courtney.
Murph has to be one of the most underrated rock drummers of all time. The man is a beast. That is all.
Insane how underrated this band is. J Mascis is one hell of a song writer and guitarist.
You missed off vocalist tee hee 😂
the chorus in this song is probably my favorite chorus of all time
Murph is KILLING it
Damn J mascis is a clean guitar player, he doesn't miss a note, whatta g
Wow. Just wow. Probably 30 years old now and it could have been written yesterday.
I often think about how different the world would be if J Mascis joined Nirvana when he was invited. Insane.
It would suck so much. Dinosaur so so so so surpass Nirvana. Kurt, Kris, and Dave agree.
Can you imagine writing this song as a teenager?
this song is so bad ass! written back when J was still pissed off and dino was heavy! SST days!

New record out !
i've been obsessed for some time too
Rock gods performing a classic.
Best performance I've ever seen of this song!
Kyle Patterson Check out the Middle East DVD version
This is good, but I'd go MTV Europe 120 Minutes '93. No Lou, but epic nonetheless. ruclips.net/video/6RDX__FhwPo/видео.html

Drummer reminds me of my middle school PE teacher
Firing on all cylinders! These guys are in their prime right now!
I love when they sing together
I always thought "Dinosaur Jr formula" was country/folk chords progression with heavy fuzz and punk energy.
Thanks for the examples, Guy Clark is my new favorite singer!
Same as Husker Dü, these are all songs that can be played acoustically
I'm in love with Dinosaur Jr!!!! and this song is soooooooooo amazing!!!!
they're just too fuckin' awesome
i have been listening to Dino JR ever since i saw a add for Your living all over me in thrasher mag in the 80's and decided to buy it going to see them over in dallas tonight WOW can't wait only took me 25 years
Henry Rollins needs to go back to black flag!!
Sick Wipers shirt
I've always heard a LOT of country undertones with these guys, one of the many reasons that I love this band.
You’re killing me…. You’re killin me.
That was fucking spectacular.
Jay Mascis is cooler than Kurt Cobain.
Kurt Cobain is dead and cold. Pretty hard to beat that.
Water is wet.
You’re just learning this now ?
Jay, Cobain, Corgan.. all cool to me, no particularly order.
I think it’s unfair to compare the two
Damn he shredded that solo
I hear the band for 20 years right ow! Can this type of music grow old?
MURPH.
great song
❤
Three amazing artists .Glad there back together .
rock ...no compromise
holy mother of crhist
Gotta cover this one
Heartworn Highways soundtrack-features some incredible footage of Clark and others. I can listen to it for days on end.
soooooooooo awesome
i feel like FULL HD
thaaaaaankkkkkkssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this wasnt around....and in th IFC channel was ban for south america
The Bass is the most important part of this song. I play all three parts and Lou is the keystone.
@207LAB hell yeah, sludgefeast is also fun to skate as well
@207LAB check out ride channel, they interview with Dino Jr and ask them how they became "the skate band" and its a nice story to watch and listen to.
FAN FREAKIN' TASTIC!!!!
apologies for shouting
Thank you SOOOOO much for loading this!!
J mascis is cooler than pretty much everybody.
この曲も最高だ。
YESS!!
yes! been waiting for this one since it first aired. thank you Turbo!
I approve plainly !!!
Is this Pixies without Kim Deal?
Frank Black on drums?
J Mascis actually produced The Breeders Last Splash for Kim Deal.
anyone else think Kurt Cobain sounded like Jay Mascis
Kurt asked J to join nirvana 3 times, J rejected the offer every time
Cool, I'll check them out
@DaytonaBLN It can become classic but not old lol! Man I hope one day I can play like J Mascis. Im a guitarist and have been playing for about 5 years.

I'm gonna watch this 1000 x and then i'm gonna reply it another 500
well there u go they sing similar tones...which makes them sound the same
lol that actually made me laugh haha nice
anyone know where to see a good quality version of this?
This is the best quality
No apologies necessary!
Fucking yes :D
Wish Lou’s bass was louder in the mix
@redshaftedflicker
I agree 100%
Can you give an example of what parts? I can't hear it
yeah true..but u hear it right?
does that mean that the air goes more through his nose than most people when speaking?
kurt's raspiness is what J chalked up to nirvana being more radio friendly and hence successful than dino j. even tho kurt thought they both sounded alike
Kind of, but J's voice is more nasally, whereas Kurdt's was raspy.
lol I don't really know. I'm one of those people who don't see similarities between a lot of things, but that's just me.
Vocals and certain cleaner parts of J's incredible guitar including the solos have country to them besides the obvious rock n' roll and punk influences. I always thought that Lou was a better lyricist and song writer than J.
Im not sure whether to agree or be offended lol =)
sort of
I'm sure the actual performance was great, but this video's picture and audio quality are as bad as it gets. This is not worth watching.

does anybody else think so? >.

well not the same but similar
then i guess you're deaf
ridiculous
I heard only 9 seconds of this, I want raisins now lol and I hate raisins. thumbs up if you agree
Yea buddy thumbs up
