Every time I listen to this podcast, I have to remind myself that I am not, in fact, sitting in the room with Grace and Mamrie, having a chat about our weeks. When they were talking about swimming lessons, I wanted to scream out my claim to fame, that I was taught swimming lessons by Holly Hoffman, who was on season 21 of Survivor! I know the girls would appreciate that morsel of information.
After the 3rd sneeze, I say, "You sneeze again, I'm letting the devil in!"

German here to confirm that we do indeed just shout "HEALTH!" when someone sneezes (if you're being rude about it/annoyed by the number of sneezes/maybe just have my dad's sense of humour (?) you can also go with "SCHÖNHEIT" (literally: beauty) to imply that aside from health...you also wish them nicer looks 😅
In Spanish, we say Salud! And it means “health” too!
So interesting bc in French it’s bless you too
In hebrew it's "labriut" which also means health!

I saw someone call multiple sneezes a “sneezure” on TikTok and I’m still laughing about it to this day.
My HIGH SCHOOL gym class had a unit on “circus skills.” Never met anyone else that had it. We could do stilts, spin plates, learn to juggle silks…
LMAO We had a circus coming to town once every year and if you wanted you could go there and do a week of learning a specific circus act and did not have to go to school that week. I still love to flex with juggling on a unicycle.

Did anyone else play Cat & Mouse in their PE class with the big rainbow parachute thing in elementary school? Where you’d have a bunch of kids sitting around flopping the parachute thing up and down while one kid is the “mouse” crawling around under the parachute and another is the “cat” crawling around on top of it trying to catch the mouse??
We had the big parachute thing but no one was on top. We would stand and wave it up and down and then someone would get nominated to run across as fast as they could and you'd tap another person (I think?).

We would play King's Court dodgeball in elementary school. Basically the rule was if you are out you get to go behind the other team and can get them out if you throw a ball. I would always intentionally get out so we could have a ghost man? on the other side. We also played some variation in the gym where you had to either get every person out or knock over all their bowling pins. I remember a game where it was me and a friend left against the best dodgeball player in the school. We had 1 pin left to protect so we huddled up against it. He throws the ball, it bounces off my hands and my friend catches it to eliminate him.

Pickleball - It was invented in 1965 as a children's backyard game in the United States, on Bainbridge Island in Washington state. In 2022, pickleball was named the official state sport of Washington
In my grade school PE class….we literally had a contest every year to see who could balance a peacock feather on the finger the longest 😂 that’s the weirdest thing I think me and 25 other kids have ever done IN THE WORLD 😂

Story included a kid rolling around on his stomach and Mamrie laughing almost as hard as she did when Grace tried ventriloquism last week 😂❤
My sweet sister would screech "Sick em' Petey" and I would jump out of the pool. I saw Jaws way too young.🤣
As a regular 14+ in a row sneezer, when Sneeze-ageddon hits I say "there's more coming" after the 3rd or 4th sneeze/bless you interaction. Then when I'm done I let them know and it cues them to give a wrap up "bless you".
Theres a whole wikipedia on the origin of "God Bless You" and it looks like you both may be right 😂

I have been shook that not everyone puts their bra on the same way - hooking in the back or hooking in the front and twisting it around.
Underwear first because Grace made a good point years ago when the bra or underwear question was originally posed. I know this because I think about it EVERY SINGLE TIME I GET DRESSED 😂 My brain is weird.
I ALSO THINK ABOUT THIS A FEW TIMES A WEEK. The "vulnerable" description is soo accurate

I thought my school in Jersey was the only one that taught pickleball! We played it in junior high and we also had a tournament where we played with and against teachers
My gym class had a game called Gaga ball which was literally dodgeball mixed with speed where you absolutely just decimate other players with foam balls as hard and as fast as possible. It actually is banned now because someone got knocked out and concussed.

Weirdest game name played in elementary school (french speaking part of Switzerland) : "Qui a peur de l'homme noir ?" Which means "Who's afraid of the black man". For example in a gymnastics hall, we had to line up against a wall, one single kid against the opposite wall had to scream "who's afraid of the black man ? The lined up kids and him had to run against each other, and he had to catch as much as he could. The kids who got caught then formed a "chain" with him and the game went on until all the kids were caught. It was a wildly horrible name. I think they changed it now though !
That exists in Germany too. Played it in the late 80ies in eastern Germany.

The worst game we ever played was when our teachers were mad at us for not paying attention. They would make us play dodgeball with basketballs.

In my high school we played pillow polo which was basically a standard 2 team trying to get a soft ball into a goal except you hit the ball with what was essentially a giant q tip. The only other place I've seen it was at my study abroad university orientation thousands of miles away from my high school.
Mame, they actually do have that for Instagram. If you swipe right, like you were posting a story. Hit create button (Aa) and then scroll to right (all the way down) where you see a time wheel (timer). It will give you essentially time hop posts that you posted from your feed/and story years back. 😊

we had a game in my elementary school called "roll the ball jail ball," where essentially you had these small foam balls that you could only hit the people on the other team from the knees or below. if you got hit, you went into the "jail," which was a mat, and you were stuck there until you could be freed. if you caught a ball from your teammate you could be freed, or if you got your hands on a ball that was rolled over and shot it into the basketball hoop, you could free the whole jail. i think it was meant to keep up from playing dodgeball because if you purposely hit someone higher than the knees you also went to jail.
The allergies are nuts! The trees and grass are skeet skeet right now in NC. Also, in middle school in GA - we did line dancing (Billy Ray was huge at the time, and that Chattahoochee song). I hated it. I loved badminton days.

A long time ago...but not that long ago....the term, bless you, originated from the belief that in that brief moment you sneeze, your soul leaves your body. Post sneeze, soul in tact, someone would say, "God bless you for the devil did not take your soul".

We played jailbreak. I think it was pretty much just dodgeball but you could get back in the game. If you were hit or someone on the opposing team caught a ball that you threw, you would go to the other side and catch a ball from one of your teammates to get back in. Also I think everyone got out of jail if someone on your team made a basket or hit the backboard or something? This probably makes no sense🤣
Random info bank here, saying bless you after someone sneezes is because back in the day they thought your heart stopped and so they would say bless you to hope to keep you alive

Did anyone else play 'redass'? Players line up facing a wall, one of them throwing a tennis ball or similar-sized ball against it. If the thrower fails to catch the ball on its return, they must run and attempt to touch the wall - if another player can grab the ball and "hit them in the butt" with it before they reach the wall, the runner is out of the game until the next round. The game continues until two or three players remain. We'd also change the rules every once in a while and play it like horse. If you spelt 'redass' you'd have to go up to the wall while everyone took a turn whipping the ball at you!
THANK YOU for articulating exactly how I feel about the tik tok documentary!! I don't want anyone to be in a cult, but I struggled to find empathy for a lot of those people (especially the rich family from Michigan)
Our "prisoner ball" was dodgeball but when you get killed you go stand "in the paint" of the other team's half court and your team can lob the ball to you etc...
I forget there are people who don't like the ocean lmao. I need the ocean! Any water, really. Coincidentally, I WAS on the swim team as a kid.

I grew up a Jehovah's Witness and you couldn't say bless you after a sneeze since it comes from Christians believing a part of your soul is exiting your body when you sneeze and JWs don't believe in souls. Lol
