My wife and I saw Linda sing "Crazy" for what she said was the first time in concert at the Mississippi River Festival in July of 1975. Tickets were about $7.50 for seating under the tent. She shed a few tears when she finished and someone brought her about 2 dozens roses. Everyone was blown away. I can't think of another female vocalist I'd rather see live. Thank you Linda!
Linda Ronstadt and Patsy Cline are singing different songs. Linda was at the height of her power in this rendition. No one can match her soaring vocals. Patsy had an emotional grit in her voice has cannot be matched.
Most amazing and sensational rendering of this song, as I've ever heard. What an awesome and beautiful bundle of talent and beautiful SOUND OF HER VOICE, from one Lovely, Linda Maria Ronstadt!
Linda puts her own wonderful heartfelt interpretation on Willie Nelson's great song. Different, yes; but just as beautiful in it's own right as Patsy Cline's version. Crossing so many musical genres, and doing it so well, Linda Ronstadt is without a doubt the preminent female vocalist of our time. Take a step back for a moment and try to imagine any other female performer, past or present, giving this concert. I think you'd be hard pressed to find one. Linda's made so many of these songs hers.
This is the MOST AMAZING, and lovely rendition of this song, "CRAZY", by Linda Ronstadt, that has ever been done. Linda sings in a Very Heart Warming and EMOTIONALLY Moving WAY, that just grips and holds you, FOREVER!
Young people, pay attention. This is called talent...actually singing. Not talking, no four letter words, no looking like a street walker like Beyonce. Pay attention.
Comments on youtube don't turn young kids "away" from anything. They don't care what we say! They copy whatever they see, and now "street life" and money and thuggery is what's popular. Nothing we say seems to influence or change any of that. Unfortunately.
Linda's catalog is one of my go to's at work many days. I was the perfect age to grow up on her music. Glen as her inductor in the RRHOF was perfect. Now we need Dolly or Emily to do the same in the CMHOF!!! Come on people...start the movement!!!! Willie you should push this.
The very top of the female vocal mountain. Pleeze preserve and clean up the subpar audio on LIVE Ronstadt like this gorgeous performance. Let folks HEAR her.
+watcher05er Yes, her band were stunning. You listen to those brilliant interpretations and that amazing voice but forget those guys who backed it up; and not just that; provided the mood and moment. She was a clever girl in her day and surrounded herself with the best in the business. Good luck to them all.
PretzelFarmer - Thank You so Much for Posting these Videos of Linda from Germany !!! They are Unbelievabe!!! Wow !!!!!!! God she just blows me away in Everyway!!!! Perfect!!!!!! What a Goddess!!!
Okay. Somebody please explain to me, why this 'Great Voice' has yet to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame...cuz I just do no get it. Linda Ronstadt was, is and will always be one of the 'purest voices' that has ever graced the planet earth!
Every version I hear of this song seems better than the last. Perhaps covering this song is how we should measure artistic talent. ;) Thank god for Willie and Patsy.
I agree with you. I can well understand the Patsy Cline fans preferring her (I am not one, don't really like country although I like this song). That aside, I think you are right, Linda has the technical perfection. Linda definitely has a voice that can do anything and she gets under the skin of a song. She does that here big-time.
Anyone who thinks Patsy is better should listen to Patsy again. As great as Patsy is Linda has an instrument that others can only dream of, including Patsy.
She makes me crazy singing it. I am calling down the wrath of traditionalists everywhere, but she's got Patsy Cline beat all to hell. I didn't ever think I'd say that. Oh well, I've been in love with Linda since "Different Drum" in 1967.
No Bill, she doesn't have Patsy beat all to hell. Patsy's version will always be better than Linda's. Linda's rendition is beautiful, but not better than Patsy's. To say otherwise is foolish
Gorgeous, vulnerable and sultry voice. As much as I love Patsy, Linda has a way better band behind her and way better arrangement. Not to mention she hits it out of the park in all her live performances.
The song was written by Willie Nelson. Patsy Cline sort of took possession of it and sang it better than anyone could for a very a long time. Linda then came along and sang it different using her soaring vocal powers as no one else could. She was always such a marvel and it was a beautiful thing. I absolutely love both versions. But if I had to choose, the best version of this song is not by either of them but by that little girl from Norway, Angelina Jordan - I believe she covered it when she was twelve. The kid is a throwback, has insane range, imparts great emotion, and possesses a set of vocal chords that I have not seen in my 60+ years.
She didn't do it better than Patsy. I think Linda's voice is beautiful. But her version doesn't beat Patsy's and that is a fact I will elaborate on. Patsy had the ability to dance on the edge of her vocal cords just breaking a part and coming back together again. If you go back and listen to Patsy's rendition on Crazy; in sections of this song, Patsy's voice flips up...almost like a yodel...because of the vocal cords flipping into head voice where it's not strained. It's what's cast in the break of the voice and having that control...of that flip into head voice...that is such a rare thing to achieve. In Linda's version, I did not hear this ability being displayed. Another thing worth mentioning is, in this version, Linda didn't have that perfect relaxed quality Patsy has in her voice where she can just let her connected sound go into a vocal fry and connect with the audience with that cry in her voice while singing, and telling you the story. It's this fact: any artist that has that "crying" ability can pull audience in and elicit that same reaction of crying from the audience because they are connecting to that emotion in such a deep level. Linda didn't have that. Linda comes in with a soft pitch range to high pitch; and she reminds me of Olivia Newton-John singing Hopelessly Devoted, but the way Patsy uses her vocal cords...to connect to the lyrics and the audience listening to it...is what makes her version so much better than Linda's. Also, the amount of air Patsy uses is less and rather than her vocal cords just failing...because there is not enough air...there is the optimal amount of air for Patsy to reach those high notes in Crazy with minimum strain and that's that yodel she does. Another thing that Patsy did in her version...besides flip into that head voice sound from chest when she wanted to...was she can really get into that clean head voice sound without flipping from chest voice; she can go straight into that all in her performance. An ability Linda did not demonstrate in this song. And another great quality that I can add to Patsy's vocal arsenal, that really solidifies her version as the best is that vocal fry Patsy had. To explain this technique further: when babies cry they produce that vocal fry you hear coming out of their mouth. Sooo many singers would kill for the technique they had when they were a baby. Babies don't know they are using their voice in the most efficient way possible; they aren't thinking of diaphragmatic support, chest voice, head voice, and falsetto because it's automatic. You lose that vocal fry sound as you get older. This was an ability that was uniquely Patsy. An ability that Linda did not master and you can tell just by her singing. Libda didn't have that "trill" in her voice that Patsy had. Patsy had control of her vocal cords so that she's just beyond vocal fry, and she can produce that crying effect you hear...in Crazy...when she sings, then can just end her lines with that low deep voice while holding on to that note without straining her voice. So no... I'm sorry... but... Patsy's version is THE best and cannot be beaten by anyone, especially by Linda Ronstadt. In this song, Linda's vocal abilities does not best Patsy's.
Only constructive "criticism": it would be great to hear a little bit more of the audience applause to round out the video, it's not just a singer singing a song, but an interaction between singer and audience. That said, an awesome cover of a song that might as well have been written for her soulful voice. Wish she's sung more soulful material over the years, her voice was as full of soul as her big brown eyes...
My wife and I saw Linda sing "Crazy" for what she said was the first time in concert at the Mississippi River Festival in July of 1975. Tickets were about $7.50 for seating under the tent. Thank you Linda!
Every song Linda Ronstadt sang, she took that song and made it her own.
Linda is always my sweetheart and will always be. Guess thats why I have of 6 of her CD's
one of the greatest singers in history...she kills this!
I think Patsy would have been honored to have Linda sing one of her signature songs!
I saw Linda perform this tune, in the late 70's you felt goosebumps when she sang this, just beautiful!
Truly one of the greatest voices in live performance of all time.
Linda Ronstadt and Patsy Cline are singing different songs. Linda was at the height of her power in this rendition. No one can match her soaring vocals. Patsy had an emotional grit in her voice has cannot be matched.
Can"t disagree. Both are sweetharts.
Most amazing and sensational rendering of this song, as I've ever heard. What an awesome and beautiful bundle of talent and beautiful SOUND OF HER VOICE, from one Lovely, Linda Maria Ronstadt!
Does it have to be a competition? They're both absolutely wonderful!
Her voice is so special, so real and there is always tears in her ballads. Just stunning.
This clip catches the softer smoother Linda rendition of this song. It was a good day for her ... you can hear it her voice.
Linda was a masterpiece of popular music - vocally and visually.
She was born to sing.what a blessing to have her sing for us.
Linda's version of this song gives me goose bumps...❤️
Moi aussi !
Indeed. She's amazing.
Linda puts her own wonderful heartfelt interpretation on Willie Nelson's great song. Different, yes; but just as beautiful in it's own right as Patsy Cline's version. Linda is one of those singers who can equal or better the original version of a classic song. Here is a perfect example.
One of the most talented female ballad singers around - so great to see these performances from her younger days.
Thank you Linda - and Willie Nelson too!
Gotta give her credit as the best female rock voice - ever!
This is the MOST AMAZING, and lovely rendition of this song, "CRAZY", by Linda Ronstadt, that has ever been done. Linda sings in a Very Heart Warming and EMOTIONALLY Moving WAY, that just grips and holds you, FOREVER!
Great. too bad for the parkinsons................I have it too
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful song & singer .... the great Linda Ronstadt.
Queen of hi-fidelity Vinyl - even more mesmerizing live. Linda was very special.
The recording was superb - when she rode it live mesmerizing. Thanks Linda.
The best rendition of this classic song. Ms Ronstadt is THE ONE, THE ONLY ONE who can do justice to any song.
Needs to be in Country Music Hall of Fame! NOW!
been in love with her since 1970. Talent like Ms Ronstadt is no more, she's one in a million.
Perfection. That´s what Linda is.
LINDA RONSTADT, THE ZENITH OF PERFECTION, WITH THE BEAUTIFUL "SOUND OF HER VOICE."
There will never be another Patsy Cline but she is close. She has been one of my favorites since the 70s
That is what I thought. Now listen to Patsy. Linda owned Patsy on this just as she did almost everyone she ever covered.
Jake Miller fuck off, she did not “own” Patsy.
@@davidcunningham2984 no Linda didn't. She's good. But her version is not better than Patsy
Never heard this before by Linda. So surprise it's absolutely beautiful.
+Pierre Cardone It's from her "Hasten Down the Wind" album. The recorded version is good too; but this is a cut above that.
It doesn't get any better than this, really. Flawless.
Linda is the best.
Linda and Emmylou both attracted great studio musicians to form backup bands. Both are national treasures.
Woman belongs in the Country Music Hall of Fame as well.
Agreed
Not just talent but a pure gift.
Simply the best! What a gift her voice is, just beautiful!!!
Hands down, my favorite rendition of this Patsy Cline masterpiece.
Amazing version of a truly great song sung by the incredible Linda Ronstadt.
Amazing sounds & very enjoyable.
Young people, pay attention. This is called talent...actually singing. Not talking, no four letter words, no looking like a street walker like Beyonce. Pay attention.
Love this Debbie, thanks for saying it.
+Debbie Torbert Couldn't have said it any better and nothing but the truth. Beautiful, talented without the gimmickry of today's trash music.
Please don't.
This is the kind of stuff that turns younger kids away from this music. Appreciate it as is. Don't compare. Just enjoy.
Thanks Debbie. My thoughts exactly. Where has TALENT and MUSICALITY gone? Hope it comes back, and SOON.
Comments on youtube don't turn young kids "away" from anything. They don't care what we say! They copy whatever they see, and now "street life" and money and thuggery is what's popular. Nothing we say seems to influence or change any of that. Unfortunately.
From within. Great singer, gorgeous pipes.
this is so good ...i cried
I am so glad all these videos are available for all of us to see and enjoy! RUclips FOREVER!
you said it all dropdowndog, This concert is perfect!
What a voice.
Linda's catalog is one of my go to's at work many days. I was the perfect age to grow up on her music. Glen as her inductor in the RRHOF was perfect. Now we need Dolly or Emily to do the same in the CMHOF!!! Come on people...start the movement!!!! Willie you should push this.

perfect voice and song
We were better then ,than we are now .Peace,
Linda's a natural when it comes to singing like Patsy Cline did. She's beautiful here too!
hands down to the band. Stunning!

Beautiful.
I have heard a lot of Karoake versions. Linda so makes this her own. I utterly respect the original. She still gets it. That was her gift.
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
From a mad keen 74yo Aussie fan.
Willie Nelson and Patsy Cline are all aglow. . . fantastic performance. Thanks for posting.
The best videos of Linda Ronstadt I have seen...many many thanks for sharing this incredible artist with us
Reading the comments below, I can't help but think once more that Linda made a habit of covering other artists songs, only better than the original.
gonetoutah
Not this one
This is fabulous, but it’s not “better than the original.” Patsy Cline had no equal.
Equally as good as Patsy
This is when I KNEW Ronstadt could really sing! Wow - chills even to this day! Thanks for posting. :)
Absolutely LOVE the way she does this song
God she is just PERFECT!
A forgotten gem in the Linda Ronstadt catalogue - the B-Side of Someone to Lay Down Beside Me - Crazy became a #6 country hit.
She is still fantastic
beautiful beautiful Linda csodálatos vagy.
i hope i can see her live one day... i have to experience this in person...
everything about her is natural and beautiful
I've seen her 6 or 7 times, in person. Eat your hearts out, Ladies and Germs:)

Jake Miller
Yeah, Patsy's one is BETTER. I think you should listen to it again. And don't ever compare Patsy's version to Linda's
Yes sir! Linda's is the only voice in the room. Patsy was great, really great, but Linda is better. When she was on her game there is no better.
@@hazardx1015 Hell no her's isn't. It's good but NOT "better" than Patsy's

I say the same thing about Linda, honestly, does out sing Patsy.

They are 2 entirely different versions. It’s possible to appreciate them both without downgrading one of them.

Patsy Cline óta ezt a számot ilyen szépen, csak Linda énekelte. Bravissimo.

Very few singers could've taken this one on as well as Linda did after Patsy Cline's stunning version of it.
Folks like Linda can outsing any singer that last 20 years .easily. Whut up,..didsssin and dattin
there aren't any other singers like Linda.
best back up band EVER!
something to sing badly this woman?, beauty, voice, talent, passion, had everything
nice voice...
Linda is the best
