Will has already sold out of his electric sitar but should have more in stock around November 2021. Contact him via the email on his website www.willmarshmusic.com to get updates on availability and to preorder.
Making a sound electrically modified is of no worth. Even systhesizers can generate Sitar sound. What's the use of it. In Synthesisers you can generate Sitar sound by playing keyboard. If so Ravi Shankar and Vilayat Khan could have explored this electric style of Guitar. But they did not. If you guys have really talent try to add more to acoustic Sitar, just as Indian Slide guitarist have modified Acoustic guitar to play Raag.
Very nice video. Will you please inform about the type of pickups used here, electromagnetic or piezoelectric transducer ? Your sitar produces amazing sound. Appreciate you for nice work of Rag Jog.
Will’s hybrid tuning worked really well with my Waseem Travel Sitar. I have an Emip Magnetic Pickup and need to use steel strings and my lowest (4th) string is too loose and kind of boomy. Plus when I Meend, it goes noticeably flat. It is an unwound 26 gauge string which D’Addario made for me. The extra Chikari String fattens things up nicely as well.
I wonder when they will make the sitar and tanpura tuning knowbs more modern so they actually sit in threads like guitar tuners so they can be more precisely tuned :D I heard the demo on this mic system on Wills video and it sounds great
There are some sitars that use modern geared tuners as you would see on a guitar. But it's not common. If you google images of "Travel sitar" you will likely find some.
Great video Jeff, definitely learned some things! (Like don't buy a sitar off eBay) And I've been messaging Will Marsh a little, he's very helpful. PS - I personally loved the reverb.

Thanks for having me Jeff, this was a lot of fun!
Seymour Duncan twin spot piezo pick up has worked well for me. I've used em since the mid 90s. Sound great!

Nice interview Jeff! How is the acoustic sound compared to traditional sitar, one with gourd instead of full wood.
Great ❤️🙏🏻
