So no surprise at all. I heard Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Bilawat Khan ji, Ustad Ali Akbar khan, Pt.Shivkumar Sharma and other legends. That was an era when players performed from the core of their heart, for their passion, not for money, popularity and fame. Those kinds of music and the essence of raga was purely divine, and now in our era that essence is missing, technology got updated but the quality of music got degraded. In our era players are busy with claiming popularity, and playing only those pieces that may popularize him/her. No hard feelings, but Niladri Kumar has awesome practice and his rendition of ragas are very good but his focus is somehow shifted to something else.
