Hope everyone is having a great weekend! This is another requested sound design tutorial, and this is generally how I go about making 808s from scratch. Don't forget to bounce the 808 you make down to a .wav file so you can use it in your future projects.
This was really helpful since I'm trying to make drill beats. Usually in other videos they would suggest to use audio samples to edit 808 beats but sometimes you would have to buy them
Just have to say props again on this one... I watched it a while ago and made some of my own Sytrus 808 bass sounds ( and added them as my own presets... )... I just recently watched Navie Ds version on how to make 808 sounds using Toxic Biohazard. Both work well, but I think yours is much more straightforward, and honestly sounds better. I suspect it uses less CPU power too ( although that's not really a problem with my rig... ). Either way! Keep up the good work! ( Navie D has some really good stuff too, but I think you won the custom 808 round easy... :) )
Thank you very much for this video David. Just one question, wouldn't it be easier to you use Sytrus' built-in filter or its built-in EQ to cutoff the high end instead of using Distructor?
Didn't even know Sytrus had a waveshaper lol. Btw, I see you playing the C4 key, isn't that too low for subfrequencies or am I wrong? Anyways, tx for the vid!
Squadron BE it’s probably not ideal. You can see on SPAN what’s going on. Its a little on the low side, but It’s not unheard of for 808s to be that low
Wonderful tutorials for someone like me looking to get into synth stuff. If I'd a-had this when I was like maybe 20... I'd probably be a billionaire by now :P
nice1, I only wonder if you using audio interface or soundcard inside computer? and what's the real differences? I just want for example, ''saving'' to any audio file format, no guitars, etc, so what I need really? * thanks,
in your case an audio interface would be useful for connecting studio monitors/headphones, for example. even then, it wouldn't really be necessary because they can be connected through regular mini jacks.
I don’t mean to sound rude, but WTF are you doing with the EQ? first you use a lowpass filter to get rid of the highs... AND THEN YOU BOOST THE NON EXISTENT HIGHS? also why should you remove lower frequencies in an 808? The rest of the video was quit okay though.
the filter cut out SOME of the high end. There's still frequency content in the areas I'm boosting with the EQ. Parametric EQ 2 has some great visual feedback so you can actually see the frequencies that are still present in the 808 by using your eyes. Also, if you use your ears you can hear the EQ has a pretty massive effect on the way the 808 sounds. You can cut out the low end (below 30 hz) to free up some headroom so your 808 doesn't take up extra space in the mix. In this case the amount of cut I did probably didn't actually do anything since it's just a low shelf and I barely cut it. If you do want to free up some head room a high pass filter will usually do the trick. Basically, I'm using the filter and the EQ to re-shape the sound to make it hit the way I want it to. Just adding distortion on a sine wave is fine, but I'm showing you how you can then completely change the tone of the 808

Thank you very much for this video David. Just one question, wouldn't it be easier to you use Sytrus' built-in filter or its built-in EQ to cutoff the high end instead of using Distructor?
I'm wondering what version of fl studio you have?
My sytrus is purple I'm guessing that's an older version?
Now I will have to stop using 3xOsc to make 808s :D
Did you check out Genesis Pro? I recommend it, you can make quite cool sounds with it.
Bumper210 hah everyone uses 3x osc. I haven’t checked it out yet. I need to though
'Genesis Pro?' ... Hahaha! Funniest thing I've heard all day 😂. You must be a comedian.
confused on how it went from being competently flat to having like a sustained ending where the note is dragged out and the not goes lower??
Can you please make a vedio on making drill 808 ??
Great, just one problem. My bass with Sytrus is completely drowning out everything else I have. Help please?
Subbed
🔥❤
What to do when my selfmade 808 is overlapping even when cut itself is activated ?
help when i click to open sytrus nothing happens
Ty, im thinking of making my own drum kit because these reddit cracks not working
Yo so after making it, how can I save it and put it into my channel rack so I can use it?
how could I save this or does it automatically do it for me?
Didn't even know Sytrus had a waveshaper lol. Btw, I see you playing the C4 key, isn't that too low for subfrequencies or am I wrong? Anyways, tx for the vid!

hey dude do u have ur keyboard corresponding with ur notes on the program?
yo i dont have the producer bundle and i dont know how to use it once I have it can u help me out

thanks,
Nredup 82 I have an audio interface. Mainly for recording. I use the m-track 2x2.
in your case an audio interface would be useful for connecting studio monitors/headphones, for example. even then, it wouldn't really be necessary because they can be connected through regular mini jacks.
my im new so i cant do the final step pls help me :(((
how i can record this in edison?
What's your reason for high pass from 27hz?
hmm. I followed this to a T but there seems to be some weird cutoffs going from note to note.
nvm i found out my mistake lol
@@eckslussWhat was the problem? Phasing.
Can u make 808s on FLM from scratch??
would be good but i only bought fruity edition lol cant use
how the heck i use this
how do you record this or bounce it to audio?
You can use Edison or just export it as a wav file
Does FL Studio have accessibility features for blind and visually impaired producers ??
Preet Priyo Musical good question. I do not know the answer
@@AnotherMonster good answer. thank you
I wanna say ur joking
@@whoishim2998 no I am not joking, logic Pro and Pro tools are some DAW which gives accessibility features for blind and visually impaired persons
You forgot to export it and make it yours :(
100
soo damn punchy
I'm lazy, man, I'd just as soon find the 808 as an instrument in a VST and just open it in a channel and that's it.
98th lol
Nice and dirty😅
