    Very nice engine. I love the sound of the old fishing boats.

    Tak fordi i tager jer tid til den slags galskab. For os der har fisket og levet på havet, er dette simpelt hen skøn musik.

    Wow that is AWESOME!! Like the green color too...I have a particular interest in a 250 foot Great Lakes tanker that was built in 1926 called the Inland Tranaport /Steel Chemist that I just recently found out originally had oil engines ...and I imagine they would have been like this one here.Wow what a sound!

    what a lovely engine.

    It is not a hot bulb engine. It is a medium compression oil engine. A hot bulb engine uses a heated bulb to vaporize the fuel which was injected on the intake stroke. Combustion occurs when the hot air from compression enters the bulb. This engine injects the fuel at TDC into a precombustion chamber, the heat of compression with the aid of the glow plug vaporizes the fuel and ignites it. A hot bulb engine has about 60 PSI of compression, this engine probably has about 200 PSI of compression.

      This engine cylinderhead has to be heated as well prior to starting

    @Motorsamling Does this engine use a scavenge pump for crankcase oil removal or a check valve system? One fellow over there told me that some of the 2 stroke hot bulb engines (Rap?) had proper oil sumps. How was oil prevented from reaching the combustion chamber in that case? Fine video, thanks. Were you trying to get it to run backwards at thew end there?

    • @janvisser2223
      @janvisser2223 Год назад

      No scavenge air pump on this one. Underside piston acts as the scavenge air pump

    Were these engines also used to make electrical power?

    OK .... I'm confused ....
    Looked for the hot bulb in the head ..... But couldn't see it .... ????
    Is that a compressed air start as well ..... ?
    BTW .... I AM IN LOVE .... :) This is a beautiful engine ...... :) Well done .....
    New sub ..... Jim :)

    • @skakpedersen

      They start it by compressed air.
      You get ONE shot from the (air)tank and then it better start. They usually do, but if not, you gotta fill the airtank manually. It should be done in less than a half an hour.

  • @douro20
    @douro20 15 лет назад

    That has a glow plug in the head? Personally I think an oxyfuel burner would still work better.

  • @douro20
    @douro20 15 лет назад

    There is only one reason these engines can be hand-started. It is because of the low compression- typically betwen 3.5:1 and 6:1.

    Hi V8Jagnut
    Thank you, I'm glad to hear that.
    I hope the videos can be a little bit instructive in how to handle hot bulb engines.

      Nice, I've looked around and it's hard to find torque figures for old engines like this.
      I know modern engines have a better power to weight ratio, but I wonder what the equivalent modern engine would be to replace this. (Likely more HP, but less torque, to get he same amount of power ... if you need slow speed and high torque, you'd have to use some sort of reduction gearing system)

    • @sqeeky100
      @sqeeky100 8 лет назад +1

      i came up with a number mathematically. if you know the RPM and the Horsepower, you can know the torque.

    i dont see the blow tortch to heat the cilinder head, so i bont think this is an hotbulb/gluhkopf engine

    • @douro20
      @douro20 7 лет назад

      It uses hotbulb ignition but it starts with a glow plug.

    • @arievogelaar7664

      okay, a glow plug on electricity, is that original? or re built, if it is original it is a semi diesel.

    • @janvisser2223

      @@arievogelaar7664 It is a semi-diesel as I recall from the instructionmanual, same type as the Hundested

      ***** I meant 50 yeqars older (manufactured not in 1960s-1970s, but 50 years before that, somewhere in 1920-1930s).
