  • www.newmexicopb... - Arnold Sargaent owns a Bed & Breakfast in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. When he and his late wife, Kit, purchases the adobe home in the 1970s, they had no idea what lie beneath. Fortunately, Kit was an archaeologist. When the two decided to dig a pool in the backyard, they hit pay dirt, historically speaking.
Carlton Canaday had the foresight to film Kit shortly after the dig was complete in 1986. He was gracious enough to share this footage, and we are able to hear Kit describe her work in her own words.
Kit is no longer with us. She died in 2001. Today, we meet her husband, Arnold; the archaeologist who's publishing a report on the Chamisal Site, Alex; and historian Joe Sando. According to Sando, the Tiwa speakers who lived at the Chamisal Site now live at Isleta Pueblo, just a dozen miles south.
