My grandmother is 98 and she was very vital until the past few years. In her eighties she started writing poetry. She produced hundreds of poignant poems reflecting on her life, our lives, time passing, and random things like kitchen utensils. She has painted amazing landscapes all of her life and produced the bulk of her paintings between age 60 and 90. One person's 75 is not the same as another.

Back in the early 80's when VHS really took off, nobody would have predicted cinema surviving. Because it's much better to be able to watch a movie in the comfort of your own home and to be able to pause it for breaks etc. So what happened? I mean, really? Also, when I watched this, there was a father who took his 3 kids, one of them a 13-14 year old-looking girl. I think it's a matter of exposing us to those forms of magic, normalizing it, making us oblivious to it, dumbing us down in general. I'm talking about the subtle foreshadowing (such as the picture at the beginning of the movie representing the end of the movie) and inclusions of the viewer (such as Christian looking over his shoulder into the camera) I personally believe it's already had its effect on me. When I was a kid I could walk into your house and you could ask me how many coils were in your garden hose and I would probably know that's how observant I was, observant on a subconscious level. Now I can watch this movie and not recognize the things mentioned in this video until they were pointed out to me.
@Beau Lijah I worry what I expose myself to when I watch films like the dark Phoenix out of nostalgia for the X-Men cartoons I watched when I was a kid. Part of me feels like it's harmless if I know the symbolism and I have no intention of being led astray from my own beliefs. but another part of me wonders if I have already been led astray if I'm watching something that I know to be basically a magic spell cast on the viewer. I find myself thinking that I don't subject myself to *nearly* as much as the average person and that I have a sort of resistance to any potential effects of partaking in mainstream media, due to the knowledge that I get from channels like this... Am I being naive? IDK but ultimately, I have faith that I'll be fine. The scary thing... is that I have a desire to separate myself from a lot of worldly things such as movies and social media, but I can't. I mean I want to but I don't want to. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you do in life is ritualistic. It's just what form the ritual takes, and what the end-goal is to be achieved. My biggest pet peeve with Midsommar was that they did not have their pagan festivals right. What they did was they used symbology and terminology for Beltaine (May 1st, midpoint of Spring, beginning of Summer in Celtic culture) and applied it for the Summer Solstice festival, which was traditionally (as the name implies) celebrated as the middle of Summer. Everything is all off. It's like they're obscuring something on purpose.
You are overall right that this stuff is May 1 Beltane; however, there are variations across many cultures, and as I understand, Sweden pagans integrated it to Midsommar due to the longer winter seasons. Not sure if I have that correct, but have heard that suggested. I have definitely come across May Pole being done at Midsummer, though it is properly, of course May 1... I wonder if you have a point about everything being "off", almost like a drifting magnetic pole effect, which would in turn shift the symbolic meanings. I'll have to think about that one.

Thats the point of films, to make people feel things and be interesting enough to retain attention. This film definitely takes you along the journey of Dani, and by the end a lot of viewers almost feel like its a happy ending for Dani. But throughout the entire film the cult uses well-known stereotypical methods of attracting new members. Love bombing, rigid schedules all day, exerting until exhaustion, which all wear down the mind and makes people vulnerable. The fact that it rubs off on viewer is a testament to how good this movie is, its demonstraring how easy it is to get swept up when you're vulnerable. But then the movie ends and you go back to your life, you're not actually in a cult

Love your channel! Did not expect to find a video from you guys during my deep dive on Midsommar after recently watching it for the first time. Great videos on the Shining too. There seem to be a lot of not so obvious parallels between these two movies. Dani’s blanket based on the Overlook carpet, stumbling upon horrific scenes (Dani seeing Christian in the act - Jack seeing the hag), the intentional use of mirrors, isolated location with long car ride, creepy/ghostly characters, feelings of entrapment by the spirit of the location/community, important old book that has a demonic gravity, strong use of set design artwork, similarities in the score/sound, questionable relationship between main characters, etc.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was thinking. That's an extremely important distinction to make - paganism and the occult have two sides - positive and negative. Obviously, ancient religions are much more difficult to trace, but in some cases it's possible and we can see mentions in their texts where the people/deities who brought those religions actually forbade human sacrifice and some even confronted others in order to save people form being sacrificed. Some thousands of years later, we can find human sacrifice practiced in those societies, a clear sign of their degeneration, but that definitely isn't what was originally taught to them. People tend to twist and degenerate the pristine message given to them. Didn't it happen in more recent times with Jesus? With the discovery of the Nag Hammady Library and texts like the Gospel of Judas, we know that Jesus had and exoteric and an esoteric side to his teachings with the esoteric being only given to his closest students. This is essentially 'occult' knowledge as it was 'hidden' from the masses who wouldn't understand it and could potentially abuse it. I don't think we can look one-sidedly at religions that are many thousands years old, have been twisted, have been manipulated, have been smeared, and make conclusions easily. There is definitely a negative side to old religions where their principles were altered and abused and things went terribly wrong, but please don't put a label 'pagan' on everything as you are summing up incorrectly something that is thousands of years old and originally started out as a positive message. There is a revival of ancient religions today, but from what I have personally seen it is NOT a revival of the monsters of the past, but of old traditions that hold timeless principles. Do we expect Hollywood will be interested or will understand this? Will they want to show this? This movie seems to be a propaganda message against the revival of the positive side of paganism, which has been gaining momentum, but also propaganda against those interested in the teachings of Jesus, being portrayed as apathetic and disinterested. They do it on purpose. These two are very well trained media producers. They started with Alex Jones, which should really tell you all you need to know about them. Everything from their perfected voice inflections, deep soft cadence and self amused laughter to themselves, are meant to illicit exact responses from the viewer/listener of these videos. The drones and synth of their background music, slowly playing over slow-speed clips in various forms of zooms. All of these are tricks of the trade, a trade they pretend to 'deeply' examine, when really, they are just trying to numb serious topics into oblivion. Also, anyone on youtube with enough following to have earned compensation from views, is in constant contact with the youtube outreach content manager, or whatever they call that guy. He guides them like employees or video contractors on allowed content. Truthstream Media wouldn't be here still if they weren't approved. So.. as much as they sound like the truth, just like the movie Midsommar they are reviewing, it's actually just another mental sand trap for truth seekers. This movie had quite an effect on me, maybe because my ancestors are from Finland/Sweden. And I lost my Mom as a teenager and almost got caught up in the Scientology cult, soon after her death. Even the Ho Ha sound the cult members made freaked me out. When I played Age of Empires years ago, whenever you created a villager in the game, it made that sound effect.

Ari Aster and the executive producer/actress Toni Colette are deeply steeped in the craft and there's no doubt in my mind about it. That movie Hereditary is spellcasting and ritual indoctrination at it's finest. I had a dream shortly after watching that movie. During that dream i heard that clicking tongue sound (which if you've seen Hereditary you'll know what i'm talking about) so very clearly which woke me up out of a dead sleep. Dude, the film Midsommar is very good and artfully created. Love the view into the ancient religions and rituals, I could recognize alot of it without even researching like the worship of the sun and fertility etc. and sacrifice. Even has some funny parts just watching the craziness of the cult. I thought the film was a criticism/warning of this type of thing but I just started the vid excited to see your analysis.

You mention the drink they drink in the movie. It sounds like Ayahuasca. My daughter-in-law actually went to Brazil two years ago on a week long "journey" doing ayahuasca with a large group. She has painted amazing landscapes all of her life and produced the bulk of her paintings between age 60 and 90. One person's 75 is not the same as another.

Saw the director’s cut and it felt more like trying to expose whats out there and how naivety combined with emotional trauma leads one to be vulnerable to such cults. I think it's a matter of exposing us to those forms of magic, normalizing it, making us oblivious to it, dumbing us down in general. I'm talking about the subtle foreshadowing (such as the picture at the beginning of the movie representing the end of the movie) and inclusions of the viewer (such as Christian looking over his shoulder into the camera)
I personally believe it's already had its effect on me. When I was a kid I could walk into your house and you could ask me how many coils were in your garden hose and I would probably know that's how observant I was, observant on a subconscious level. Now I can watch this movie and not recognize the things mentioned in this video until they were pointed out to me.
@Beau Lijah I worry what I expose myself to when I watch films like the dark Phoenix out of nostalgia for the X-Men cartoons I watched when I was a kid. Part of me feels like it's harmless if I know the symbolism and I have no intention of being led astray from my own beliefs. but another part of me wonders if I have already been led astray if I'm watching something that I know to be basically a magic spell cast on the viewer.

What they did was they used symbology and terminology for Beltaine (May 1st, midpoint of Spring, beginning of Summer in Celtic culture) and applied it for the Summer Solstice festival, which was traditionally (as the name implies) celebrated as the middle of Summer. Everything is all off. It's like they're obscuring something on purpose.

This film definitely takes you along the journey of Dani, and by the end a lot of viewers almost feel like its a happy ending for Dani. But throughout the entire film the cult uses well-known stereotypical methods of attracting new members. Love bombing, rigid schedules all day, exerting until exhaustion, which all wear down the mind and makes people vulnerable. The fact that it rubs off on viewer is a testament to how good this movie is, its demonstraring how easy it is to get swept up when you're vulnerable. But then the movie ends and you go back to your life, you're not actually in a cult

Great videos on the Shining too. There seem to be a lot of not so obvious parallels between these two movies. Dani’s blanket based on the Overlook carpet, stumbling upon horrific scenes (Dani seeing Christian in the act - Jack seeing the hag), the intentional use of mirrors, isolated location with long car ride, creepy/ghostly characters, feelings of entrapment by the spirit of the location/community, important old book that has a demonic gravity, strong use of set design artwork, similarities in the score/sound, questionable relationship between main characters, etc.
Thank you for putting words on the extreme discomfort I felt throughout the film. Not only because we know in advance the horror playing out but also because I was totally hypnotised and glue to it until the end.

Thank you! That's exactly what I was thinking. That's an extremely important distinction to make - paganism and the occult have two sides - positive and negative. Obviously, ancient religions are much more difficult to trace, but in some cases it's possible and we can see mentions in their texts where the people/deities who brought those religions actually forbade human sacrifice and some even confronted others in order to save people form being sacrificed. Some thousands of years later, we can find human sacrifice practiced in those societies, a clear sign of their degeneration, but that definitely isn't what was originally taught to them. People tend to twist and degenerate the pristine message given to them. Didn't it happen in more recent times with Jesus?
With the discovery of the Nag Hammady Library and texts like the Gospel of Judas, we know that Jesus had and exoteric and an esoteric side to his teachings with the esoteric being only given to his closest students. This is essentially 'occult' knowledge as it was 'hidden' from the masses who wouldn't understand it and could potentially abuse it.
I don't think we can look one-sidedly at religions that are many thousands years old, have been twisted, have been manipulated, have been smeared, and make conclusions easily.

Ari Aster and the executive producer/actress Toni Colette are deeply steeped in the craft and there's no doubt in my mind about it. Every word of this video has a immediacy to it. None of what they are explaining should be taken lightly, not for any of TruthStreams videos, but particularly this one.

I honestly think a hive mind is "forming" in todays society....like freaking pod people.

Kinda why they use the subconscious against the masses. The subconscious can rule the conscious. They can slip the symbols and language in and your subconscious will retain it.
A "hive mind" is no excuse for descending to this level, and even gladly staying there. Try telling a war crimes tribunal, circa 1946-48 or so, that you had to do it because of "hive mind". It's worse than "following orders". (and yeah, I know about Paperclip, etc)

The hive mind is just a worse case of people going with the flow when they shouldn't. The Nazis were hive-minders. The white supremacists were hive-minders. The country club set is a hive mind. The US government is hive mind; that's why it refuses to fix what's wrong, and it just gets worse. The lemmings are hive mind. Every snotty clique is hive mind. And sometimes TED talks are hive mind. There is no reason not to discern which are garbage and which are worthwhile.

You mention the drink they drink in the movie. It sounds like Ayahuasca. My daughter-in-law actually went to Brazil two years ago on a week long "journey" doing ayahuasca with a large group. She hates the fact that, as Christians, we won't support her in doing so. She has since quit, but it was crazy. This Midsommer movie sounds so much like her week long "evil" ayahuasca journey to Brazil! They also wore white robes, had really long sessions, danced until exhausted and seriously hallucinate, claiming to see all sorts of entities and things that can only be described as pure evil; although she claimed it was connecting her with "mother earth", see "reality" for what it is, etc. Thank God she stopped! She literally drained her savings of almost $10,000 to pay for this stupid trip!

Wow...watching this I kept thinking about all the symbolism in Harry Potter, from runes, to alchemy, to a burning Phoenix rising from the ashes and a quick jaunt to the afterlife, followed by regeneration. Hundreds of millions of kids, injected and poisoned with these subtle themes, primed for something more. Terrific synthesis, as always.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. The director has been very open and honest about the meaning of the movie. Not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes it's just about being an entertaining and thought provoking piece of work. Try to enjoy it for the fictional work that it is.
