Unfortunately, my dog passed away with tick fever. Friday i saw that my dog was sitting, fully aware of everything, but he wasnt up and jumpy as usual. I shrugged it off thinking he had one of his bad days and proceeded to give him his food. The next day, i noticed he felt a little better and was walking around but didnt eat much of his food. I also shrugged it off, but at this point i was kind of concerned, so i went to a pet store and they recommended glucose and charcoal powder to give him energy. Sunday was the day i noticed that my dog was REALLY REALLY sick. He was very weak, unable to stand properly. He was drooling thick drool from his mouth. He didnt eat any of his food AT ALL but he did drink some glucose and charcoal water. I called about 10 vet hospitals but none were open because it was sunday. I drove around looking for places but could not have found one open. Monday i awoke to my dog standing up. He urinated blood and just fell hitting his head. I immediately called a transportation van for him to go to the vet as he became unresponsive with a slight bleeding through his nose. When he arrived there the doctors took him in and did the necessary tests like blood tests ect. They told me most likely with all the symptoms i mentioned, it was tick fever(i live in the caribbean-Trinidad). The next day they called me and told me the news of his passing ... one piece of advice i could give is as soon as you see your dog looking off please take them to the vet. I will surely miss my dog.
Thanks for a clear presentation without a lot of waffling...just need to know what the alternative treatments are since 2 of our dogs died from berenil treatment.
My 7 week husky puppy is currently suffering from tick fever. I'm still researching it, so I'm still trying to figure out if the two are same, because they sound pretty similar to me. I received the pup a week ago and took him to the vet yesterday and she said immediately that he's anemic. She told me he came to me sick, but the previous owner isn't accepting responsibility because none of the other puppies are sick. She is treating him with antibiotics. His spleen is enlarged, difficulty breathing, barely eating, only lying on the cold ground and very tired, sleeping all the time. I think he might be experiencing some pain because he doesn't want to be petted. As a new owner I didn't know the signs so I thought he was a healthy dog. His tummy was round (vet said because his spleen is enlarged), breathing with his mouth open and tongue outside (like a dog after it runs) and there was a noticeable rapid pulse, you could actually see it in the abdomen, as he breathe. Also was a very picky eater. And the tiredness was there too, I would take him out in the yard and after two trips he would be tired (short trips). Would always sit before he returned to me. Not much people understand how dangerous ticks are to these small animals... especially when they're babies. Thank you Doc. for the information. I have learnt also that dogs can be sick with tick fever and live with it without showing any visible signs until they're stressed.
Hi Doctor. My dog has a fever of 39 degrees. been to the vet several times now. Her stool was weak with it being yellow in color and had blood in it 2 times. Stool is now harder. She did throwup 2 times in the last 3 weeks. The vet did bloods and said all is clear a smear revealed tick bite fever. She has been on meds. she is active, wants to play. eating good. but her fever is not going down. she is constantly panting. the vet said they cant find anything more wrong with her. I dont know what to do.
Thanks for your video :) I live in Taiwan an have a rescue dog. She has babesiosis. I think it's been dormant, lately though she has been having strange health problems. Vomiting off and on... A few weeks later a swollen mouth. She also has issues with extremely heavy panting. I took her to the vet a few days ago her temperature was okay and they said there was nothing out of the ordinary.. I'm still worried about her... Can she have a normal life. She is 8 years old now. I hope she can have a have a normal life

@@Deiniol_1 carry to vet trust me if i did that early my dog would have been alive today :(. I heard the disease is very painful internally for dogs.
@@RingtoneCentral the vet is coming tomorrow. I got prednisolone and have him one tonight as instructed by the vet
My dog who tragically passed also got diagnosed with tick fever but she also started acting crazy, almost like she had rabies
