For a second I thought they were going to throw lusitanias whistle overboard 😭
i know
Same💀😭
Same
😂😂😂 same
For Lusitania, it's pretty safe to assume it sounded a lot like that, but it sounds very different under high pressure steam power. Reports say the Lusitania and Mauretania sounded very similar.
Fun fact, one of Queen Mary 2's Horns, is actually one of the OG Queen Mary's whistles. which is why it is powered with steam. The Sound of the Great Queen Mary still Sounds over the ocean even after nearly 100 years after she was built. there is something poetic about it, and i love it
It's a replica.
Queen Mary's whistle (under steam) makes her sound like she's the icon who owned the ocean. Which she absolutely did. Best whistle ever. My #1 favorite ocean liner ever.
I got to travel on her 2x at very end of her service (I was 7) ... believe me her horn would scare me every time 😂. I remember those voyages (also Queen Eliz and SS United States) like yesterday
That clip of Olympic coming into New York never gets old. Love her sound.
Uhhh just to say, didnt Olympic get bout in Harland and wolf and owned my white star line? Or is it a different olympic
@Corruption_Core Towards the end of her career when Cunard/White Star merged, she was technically a part Cunarder then.
@@MineTwine45 ohhh that makes sense. Since I think they went bankrupt after working on Queen Mary. Then it was a rusty hull. Then they asked the government for money but they said the only to is to merge with white star. So yea I get your point now. O forgot about that yesterday
RMS Aquitania. A beautiful ship with a really loud whistle. It sounded almost aggressive, but it's my favourite of all the Cunard liners
I really sat here for 18 minutes watching and listening to Cunard horns.
Awesome
Almost 19 minutes
The queen mary when she blasts her horn makes her sound like the queen of the seas.
0:41 i thought they gonna throw the whistle back in the water 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was the clearest I have ever heard Majestic's whistle.
I know! It’s so beautiful and magical.
Seeing footages of ocean liners in their heyday is so magical. Such beautiful ships. 😍😍😍😍
I agree
I remember being on Queen Mary when I was kid, back in 2000s, I was awe to see her beautiful and grand ship she is, I even has some items of her.
I love how eerie the old white star ships sound
*Cunard (ik someone's gonna put a nerd emoji but it feels right)

For some context this video covers all known "Operated" "Owned" and "Chartered" ships that Cunard operated throughout their history. I recognize Olympic, Majestic, and Letitia are not true Cunarders and at face value should not be on this list, but by technicality Cunard did in fact "operate" them whether it be by merger (Cunard-White star Line) or by joint service (Cunard and Donaldson Atlantic Line). I wanted this compilation to cover a broad selection of ships that Cunard operated throughout their history, ships that operated under the Cunard umbrella. I understand your points/concerns if you don't agree with this list, but I figured I'd share my perspective when I was creating this list.
I am booked on the Queen Anne maiden for 7 days from now on May 3rd. I cant wait to hear her "voice" speak in person. :)
How exciting! Hope you enjoy it and have fun!
Post a video, please
Amazing video! Considering that some of these recordings are rare, it’s amazing hearing their voices of the first time or an actual clear recording of their voices. It feels so Magical and tingly at the same time.
NEW: MS Queen Anne arriving to her home port of Southampton and sounding her horn! ruclips.net/video/xCur1UAZ81Q/видео.htmlsi=EHI1r2aO2Urvd0Fv
I love that full video of the Sagafjord and Vistafjord passing each other. Sagafjord has to salute her flagship! I also love you show the fleet carnival ignores!
Horns bring goosebumps and joy. Thank you for making my Sunday great.
If there’s something in life I didn’t know I needed,
It’s every Cunard Ship Horn.
6:35 Finally no narrator RMS Caronia horn footage
Hah! A new video! Some of these are pretty rare, Good job 𝓑𝓤𝓝𝓖𝓤𝓢!
Surprised Carpathia wasn't on your list
Carpathia isn't on here because I don't trust those videos claiming its her whistle. All those videos of Carpathia's whistle have no source and to me thats a red flag, I just can't trust that.
Queen Mary's horn just might be the boss of all ship's horns/whistles civilian or military
After RMS Queen Mary 2, it's sad to see the sorry state the Cunard fleet is in. The MS Queen Victoria, Elizabeth, and Anne aren't the ugliest cruise ships I've ever seen, but you could make they case they're each trying hard for that title.
Sadly, I guess that's what it takes to be a profitable shipping line these days: finances over finesse. At least we still have the QM2 as the legacy keeper for the great age of ocean liners.
And plus the Aquitania is the best
**TURNS VOLUME UP AL THE WAY TO SEE IF I CAN SURVIVE**
the fact Olympic was never saved is a damn shame
I love the sound of Olympic entering NY. I just love it. For some reason, Seadream I (Sea Goddess I) reminds me of modern ships like Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy's normal horn (not musical). Royal Viking Sun has the pitch I would expect in a *modern* ship horn. There is nothing to say about Queen Victoria, THAT HORN IS JUST AMAZING. I do not know why, but it literally just "tickles" my brain by being at the perfect pitch.
7:43 *loud incorrect buzzer*
The Olympic just so good reminds us of what the old days were like
9:07 WOW you found queen elizabeth 2s fog horn!
Fun fact: the queen Mary used its horn so much upon arrival at its final port, the horn stop working completely.
Yes, but with very minor repairs it was back and running within days.
4:09 15:21
Since its foundation in 1839/1840, 249 ships have sailed for the Cunard Line [founded as the Cunard Steamship Company] (but not all ships were originally built as Cunard-Liners). 🙂
The next ship of the Cunard Line will therefore be the 250th ship (but it will probably be some time before then).
I really like Lusitania
the sound of the lusitania is wrong...that's a steam siren...by making it work with compressed air the density is different and so is the sound...a bit like when you change a person's voice using the helium...the density of helium is different from oxygen and therefore makes the vocal cords vibrate differently
The mauretania's whistle is always scary and beautiful at the same time
10:33 Lightning GOAL!!!!
Queen victoria has a pretty satisfying sounding horn.
You forgot about Carpathia, the most legendary ship
Unfortunately Carpathia’s whistle is probably fake and cannot be trusted. No video I’ve seen has a definitive source to the original sound.
After MV Georgic... I really loved the bitonal horn of MS Queen Elizabeth.
I live next to the port of the city i live on (Barcelona) and i am used to hear this.
Queen Mary
The Olympic and MV Britannic are White Starline
But they turn into cunard when white star line and cunard line merging into one company
but for britannic III i would consider her as a cunard ship. Shes different then the others. There was i think plans on painting her funnels to being the cunard colors. And possibly renaming her. But its just a theory.
The Rms Olympic was actually owned by White Star Line, and same as the RMS Majestic/ SS Bismarck and RMS Berengaria/ SS Imperator and MV Britannic
But they turn into cunard when white star line and cunard line merging into one company, and btw, berengeria never owned by white star
Wait when was Lusitania's whistle recovered?
I believe it was recovered in 1982 during salvage operation.
The Vista jord was in a German TV Show called Das Traumschiff i nerver knew that cunard was the owner
I was confused why Olympic and majestic were on here until I remembered that white star and Cunard came one company
On 2:41 rms olympic is not an cunard ship it's the white star line ship
If you still want to know your answer, it’s because they merged white star line and Cunard line into Cunard white star line and operated the olmpyic technically after the merge.
I love Queen mary's horn.
The Olympic horn sound was the same as Titanic Roblox
Thats because they used Olympics horn instead of titanics
Queen Elizabeth 2 has the best Cunard horn.
4:31 Horn sound similar to what was used in titanic film for its whistle
Very disappointed with Queen Anne's whistle. Its like comparing the QM2 being a Rolls Royce horn and the Queen Anne being a mini
the 1st vistafjord horn sounded like sagafjord or saga rose
Do 1:41 at full volume
At 10:14 this ship sounds like a Greek ship by the name of Adamadios Korais.... They sound exactly the same!!!!!!!
Nothing of Saxonia/ Carmania/ Leonid Sobinov?
Dad has foghorn from Leonid Sobinov as we cross the Equator in 1979 on super8
Unfortunately nothing concrete on Saxonia/Leonid Sobinov. That's incredible hear, that must have sounded loud when you crossed the Equator! If I may ask, do you have footage of her whistle with sound and is it possible if I can take a look at it? If not I understand.
@@MaritimeNexus I can only remember hearing her foghorn twice. Can't remember if it was 1978 or 79 before we sailed from Adelaide and it was probably a good 30 minutes before we sailed, just 1 short blast. Talk about jump, had never heard anything so loud as a 10yo. We were standing on boat deck right under the funnel. The second time was 1979 when crossing the Equator, 1 long blast. As I wrote dad does have it on his super8 sound movie, you can definitely hear it bit haven't seen for many years as his projector is not working, we are thinking about getting it transferred onto DVD.
The first crossing I was having an enjoyable day helping the forward lift girl operating the elevator. I couldn't speak Russian, she couldn't speak much English but we both had a great day.
When we get the film transferred will definitely send you a copy of her foghorn.
It's only recently I've seen many more photos of Leonid Sobinov than I've ever seen before.
I've also sailed on the Fair Princess and have her foghorn sailing from Melbourne and have seen the Albatross, so the only sister have never seen or sailed on is the Ivernia.
While I remember we were on the Leonid Sobinov only 4 days after Liliana Gasinskaya, the red bikini girl squeezed through the porthole in Sydney January 14th 1979, we were on that voyage to England and boarded January 18th.
Hope this helps a little
@@petersmith5783 Thank you for sharing, those sound like wonderful experiences onboard. Cruising on those old gals must have been a pleasure and I can only imagine what it was like to be onboard. Fortunately I had the opportunity to go my first cruise onboard the Carnival Panorama to the Mexican riviera and I had the time of my life! If you ask me I would definitely do cruise again some time in the future. And thank you for the offer of a copy of her foghorn, her voice is a rarity these days and it would be a pleasure hearing it, Thank you again.
Uh either I’m missing something or did you forget that the Olympic is a white star line ship
You’re missing the fact that Olympic was under Cunard White Star for a year.
letitia is a cunard liner?
The Olympic was White Star line. Not Cunard. But i enjoyed it nonetheless.
But Olympic become cunard when white star line and cunard line merging into one company
aqutania was loud
Do a White Star Line version.
I can only count 5 ships from White Star Line that are verifiable. The rest are either fake recordings with no source or there's no recording to begin with.
@@MaritimeNexus gotcha.
olympic just sounds like roblox titanics the way I like is Olympic never sank hero and bravery
😊❤
I enjoyed the video but why is Olympic there when Shes A white star line,I forgive ur mistakes❤🤝
If you read, you would know that white star line and Cunard merged, Olympic operated for Cunard between 1934-35
what about carpathia?
16:26 queen victoria
You forgot the RMS Carpathia
I want to correct it, but Olympic did not belong to Cunard Line, but belonged to the "White Star Line" company
Olympic became a Cunard ship for a brief period when White Star and Cunard merged.
where is carpathia?
Rms olympic is a white star line ship not a cunard line ship
It became a Cunard White Star liner when the 2 companies merged.
@@jayrobinson7554 your right!!
Olympic isn't from cunard.. same for majestic
both lines merged
When Cunard and White Star merged, both Olympic and Majestic became Cunard's property. So yes, Olympic and Majestic were also Cunard ships :D
1 word
Loud
The Olympic was not Cunard it was white star lines ship
But Olympic become cunard when white star line and cunard line merging into one company
Queen Mary 2

QE2 still the deepest and best
Wait Olympic Isn't From Cunard
No,when white star merged Olympic became a Cunard ship
RMS Queen Mary
Isnt olympic belong to the white star line?💀
cunard whitestar merger
Olympic and Majestic and some other ships aren't Cunard line ships the Olympic and majestic are both white star line ships the Olympic is the Olympic-class Ocean liners which the Olympic, Titanic, and Gigantic aka Britannic are all sister ships and are all Olympic-class Ocean liners.
Didn't the boiler burst in olympic? It collade with hms hauk
Did you know the Cunard-White Star Merge? During the great depression, cunard and white star had to merge so they could build Queen Mary.
I still wouldn't count olympic, Majestic, letitia as being cunard liners in this list. Reason being is that they were not build as cunard liners in the first place. Yes sure they were once operated by them but still it wouldn't make any sense at all.
I knew this would be controversial. Yes I know it’s a gray area and I’ve gone back and forth on whether to include them or not but the premise of the video is all known “Operated” “Owned” and “Chartered” ships. Operated being a loose term and Cunard operated a lot of ships that weren’t originally built (or looked) like Cunarders. As time goes on I’ll monitor the consensus of the comments on whether they should stay or not.

Olympic isn’t a Cunard ship, it’s a white star line ocean liner
The Cunard and White Star merged in the 1930s. She was technically a Cunard ship for a short while before it was broken up.
@@thatmodellingbloke yeah but Cunard basically became a entity and not a business due to the merge
RMS Olympic and RMS Majestic were white star line, of course they were around when Cunard White Star was formed but still
