Maria's remains are not here: they were placed here after her cremation, but were stolen, later returned, and in 1979 her ashes were scattered in the Aegean. The plaque markes the site where the ashes were initially lain to rest.
Maria Callas’ ashes are no longer in her niche. The Paris burial crew bury her ashes at Pere Lachaise but later stolen by her fans and later fans got arrested and later recovered, 2 years later, her ashes were removed and were scattered at Aegean Sea and luckily her headstone is still at Pere Lachaise and later on, her headstone become memorial stone because her ashes were scattered at sea.
Her ashes were scattered in the Aegean sea late 1970's. There is a video on RUclips that actually shows the moment of her ashes thrown into the water. There is nothing in that grave.
This is not a grave but a plaque. Maria Callas' s boby was cremated and the ashes were scattered in the Aegean sea in a very windy day that provoked a good part of the ashes to fall back on the faces of the onlookers .....
It's so sad that she was cremated! She was Greek Orthodox. The Orthodox Church does not believe in cremation, as the body was sacred as the "Temple of the Holy Spirit", and will be resurrected on the Final Day. Memory Eternal!
@@acardi48 Funny or not that is how Greek Orthodox deal with the matter. Greek Orthodox church only recently accepted cremations. Back then it was unheard and unacceptable but she was living in Paris and so they couldn't interfere.

Bom dia

Maybe she didn’t want to live ever again. She suffered enough for several lives.
Resurrected on the Final Day - do you have more of these funny fairy tales? 😂

It was her wish not to have a grave, not to become a pilgrimage site, hence to be returned to the waters of Greece
I thought her ashes were released at sea?! 🌊
they are
ADIEU MARIA
QUE JE T'AIME TANT
Cenotafio
Maria sleeps with the fishes.......
