- How Jesus looked according to the Shroud of Turin. Also known as the Holy Shroud, it's a length of fabric which is claimed to have wrapped Jesus after crucifixion, bearing a negative image believed by some to be the face of Jesus.
The shroud has been rigorously tested, having been radiocarbon dated to the Middle Ages between years 1260 and 1390, and many theories have been posited for how the image on the shroud was created, including painting, acid pigmentation, medieval photography, dust-transfer, bas-relief, Mailard reaction and others.

Do an image search for The Chosen. The first publicity image I saw featuring Jonathan Roumie was exactly the same as the end result of the video. So I'm afraid I have to wonder how much actual photoshop wizardry is on display here.

I was sorting through some basement things the other day and came across a replica of the shroud of Turin. I visited Turin some 7 yrs ago and have no recollection of buying it. I also went through my basement many times and had never seen it before. Was like finding treasure. And WOW that looks like Jonathan Roumie
If you really want to know how Jesus looked like, He has revealed his face thru the sacred host during a morning mass on Nov 2013 in Kerala India.

It also looks like the first painting of Akiane where she thinks what she painted was Jesus because when she was younger she started seeing visions of heaven and christ but as she gets older she starts to forget and it gets blurry so she tried painting Jesus Christ. I was abit amazed that her painting looked so smiliar to the shroud of turin I mean it could be maybe?

It is written in Iseahs 53 He had no beauty that we could look at Him. Rejected and despised our faces turned away.. in my heart, I believe that was to say, they didn't see Him being handsome because He didn't dress as a rich man did in those days. From what I understand, he was never supposed to be super good looking because he didn’t want to draw people because of his looks, but instead to draw people because of who he was on the inside and the message he had to give.
If he had been super handsome, he would’ve had women swooning over him and it all would’ve been about popularity from a superficial perspective.
I met a lady this afternoon. I walked in to get my car serviced. A very plain lady, probably in her late 50s or early 60s was seated in front of me. She struck up a conversation with me and by the time we finished our conversation, I saw the beauty in her that I hadn’t seen when I first walked in the door. It’s shown through and her personality and the words she said. She is indeed a beautiful person.

This lady does these with historical and other types of portraits including Homer Simpson. She does amazing work whether the end result is spot on or not. Do you think the shroud is authentic or the first recorded photograph in history, the self portrait of Leonardo DaVinci, who was a known atheist and homosexual and was known for adding subliminal stuff into his art specifically to thumb his nose at the church. I find the shroud fascinating because nobody to this day knows definitively how it was created.

Exactly! Initially you don't see JR's face at all. Originally it looks nothing like him. It's only when they start taking the image away you can see JR's image appear.....However, the shroud image also isn't what I think Jesus would look like. Nor do I think it matters. Knowing His attributes and knowing Him personally is what really matters so we won't be fooled by any counterfeit. Especially the final Antichrist who will deceive even the Elect if it were possible. The only way it won't be possible is if you are abiding in Jesus Christ and you allow Him to abide in you!

I'm sorry, but this doesn't take A LOT of factors into consideration. For one, the face of Jesus/the man on the shroud has multiple bruises and swellings, and his nose is broken (according to forensic experts). Therefore, his face is already different from what it would normally look like, so basing his features off his disfigured face is a no-go to me. Also, his shape is as if it had been "scanned" onto the linen (which baffles scientists). The shroud actually had 3D characteristics, and those also need to be considered. Sorry, but this is flawed (kudos for trying though).
IMO, Ray Downing did a phenomenal job while considering all the criteria. Google his Jesus portaits, which are based off the shroud.

As a Muslim we believe in the teachings of Jesus, we don’t care how did he look like. Real thing was his teaching and orders.
We should avoid to make imaginary pictures of so great prophet of God. His teachings and life was far more beautiful, handsome and greater than his body. He was God’s loved one, that’s his greatness.

The shroud of Turin was determined to be a hoax perpetrated several hundred years after Jesus. Besides which the wrapping style is incorrect. Back in the first century it was the custom to wrap the body in bandage type wraps, not a one piece shroud.

@@dr.alanhales544correct me if I'm willing but you weren't there when he was buried😂 they could have easily wrapped the whole body, head included, with shroud, and then used a separate head covering on top of it to tightly wrap over the shroud which would explain the face marks. I agree, the face in the shroud is a swollen face of a man who was brutally beaten and tortured. The nose is swollen, and the face has long shape. The computer image doesn’t show throud face shape.

I think the guy who made this definitely had the actor Johnathan Roumie in mind when creating this. I do think it’s close though. Google the historical court case of Yeshua. You can find still perserved historical records of Jesus’s trial. In those records 3 different ones describes Jesus’s physical appearance. 5’11, weight, color of eyes (blue/grey), hair color brown with golden highlights, his stance, etc. Rome kept records. Also, Josephus was a Jewish historian during Jesus time, he wrote about the it too. There are answers.
