My father had the same kind of experience. Not a NDE, but he was driving a truck and lost the brakes and a car was coming the opposite way. He had no choice than going off the road to save those in the car. While he was praying for his life, he was asked if he wanted to go or stay in this world. He was just married with a child so he chose to stay. But he was told that his life would be full of adversity. And as long as I remember my parents life hasn't been easy and they got lots of trials but they are still faithful members despite all the struggle.

Thank you for sharing this story. I experienced a very strong experience through the Spirit over 16yrs ago just prior to when my daughter would go into a medical crisis, with her death a week later. The Spirit very strongly showed me that my daughter would be a "special needs" child, and expressed what care this would require of me throughout her life, and not just as a child. Then I was asked if I was willing to accept this. Without any hesitation I was absolutely willing and I felt very much at peace that the Spirit confirmed this was answer was pleasing to Heavenly Father. I struggled for years with it because it was an experience that I understood in the context of the crisis to mean that she was going to pull through and not die, but that she was going to need the extra care I had been informed of in that experience. When she died, it felt like a contradiction. It was only through years of praying, pondering, pleading and really patiently trying to better understand that I realized that the experience was in two parts - I had the interaction I had as her mother in asking me what my will was. But my daughter, even though only weeks old, also had agency. She also was able to have some choice. I don't know exactly what her experience was, or even if she was asked as directly as I was. In what you shared here, though, it only reaffirms what I feel I've been taught about agency being a principle that is exercised even between this mortal realm and the realm to come. Agency is not only for some. And so I really do appreciate hearing this account and feeling I can have another layer of comfort as I have more ways to see how we are taught and grow in understanding (even though I admit I have a long, long way to go still).
A story was found for my greatx3 grandfather who died in the 1890s. His name was James Perry Carter. After he died a woman whom he knew had a dream where he came to her and said his garments put on him after he died were missing the markings and he needed them put on. She dismissed the dream. As I recall he came to her at night two more times which scared her until she finally convinced brethren to unbury him. Sure enough the markings were missing so she sewed them on and that was that. I do not fully understand why it was so important and what of those buried without their garments or other calamities of death, however it was important for some reason for him. It was a retorld story in a church history book so I do not know the validity, but it was just interesting.

We have a hard copy of the saints books for everyone in our family who reads and read a chapter a day. Its an easy read for children, and a chapter takes maybe 10-20 minutes to read aloud together!
