Nuzlocke rules:
Fainted Pokemon must be permanently boxed
Only the first encounter on any given route may be caught (dupes clause)
All pokemon must be nicknamed
Hardcore Rules:
No items in battle (only held)
No overleveling the next gym leader

I too felt the suffering of finding Bagon. In fact, I found a shiny spearow before I actually found it.
I got it first try but felt pain for hours to get a 10% enconter

I went for snorlax baby (5%) it took me way longer
I looked for bagon for ages aswell and the first i found was shiny! Was playing at the same time as my brother and just remember freaking out, still have that same salamence in pokemon home

It is pretty funny, but if you want to go full nerd it's just his final form. J'ohn has conquered his fear of fire and harnessed the power of the burning Martain to carry a nuzlock.
As someone who watches a bunch of these HC nuzlockes, I really appreciate that you just get straight into the run and the first pokemon you can catch. Thanks for trimming the fat with this magnificantly, massive video. Great work as always!

I remember when I first played ultra sun, I wanted a Bagon, but I knew that it was a 1% chance. I walked into the grass, and the FIRST ENCOUNTER was a Bagon. I legitimately burst out laughing.
After watching many dragon mono runs i love that you kept Noivern alive. Noivern is my favorite dragon and most people end up sacking it because they either have Salamence or Dragonite.

Dragon types are super freaking cool. However, I'd prefer to have a team of mons that are like dragons but aren't all dragon type (because having all dragon types sounds like a recipe for disaster). Only have three members so far, but I'll eventually find a full roster of 6.
What are those three? I can only think about Charizard, Gyarados, and Yanmega (since it’s a dragonfly lol)
@@luizbezerra4373 Vaporeon (because it looks like a water fox dragon, at least to me), Noivern (the dedicated dragon type), and Sceptile that can mega evolve (A grass gecko that's just cool). I also don't want their colors to repeat too much or for there to be too many on one specific type.
How about , a team full of pokemon from the dragon egg group ?

Definitely the most difficult nuzlock so far, a struggle in the early game and a Rough late game but a huge win. Absolutely loved it

True Justice League nuzlocke. Aquaman was useless and Batman carefully planned everything so he would win at the very last moment.
i’m pretty sure lusamine is supposed to be an extremely inexperienced battler so she doesn’t know type matchups and therefore she picks the wrong moves

Amazing as always! Surprised to see noivern carrying its weight pretty well. Also very interesting to see how contrary to popular beliefs, dragon types are pretty bad early game! Like you said, the insane levels and really terrible types+Base stats can make your runs pain lol. Props to beating this run!
Oh and also, if you don't mind, can you do a steel monotype run? I saw the last one and though it was super interesting! There's so many amazing pokemon, but it still isn't a pushover. The sinnoh games can be great since they finally give a chance to use piplup (because water types are so easily accessible) as empoleon has an absurd typing and is amazing overall!

my little brother did this exact challenge like a week ago. it took you two hours for a bagon... took him like 4 or 5... he started popplio just coz it was his favourite and he forgot about the noibat in verdant cavern so bagon was his first dragon mon... it took him so long to get it that he had a primarina from killing the wild mons. got the idea to do it from me except i did it was rock mons

Always nice to see a run with dragons that isn't crushed by lack of focus. This is a lesson that no matter how powerful your team and strats are, you still have to pay attention with hardcore nuzlocke rules no matter what

Fun fact: If you chain enough Bagons on Route 3, you can get a Salamence (assuming you have enough patience to wait for one to be called in).

Fairy types are why I run iron tail on salamence. Nobody expects it and with moxie it's pretty much a free attack boost and kill against the tapus I face.

I started a Mono Dragon HC nuzlocke and decided to post an early game analysis:
I picked Popplio, after reseting at Emily with Rowlet many times, and decided that it is the superior choice, because it has Baby-Doll Eyes vs. the physical Rowlet and Ilimas Yungoos and Smeargle, and can use Work Up. After about 30 attempts setting up with Baby-Doll Eyes and Work Up, I managed to sweep. Same for Ilima and Gumshoos each.
I decided not to count these in my attempt counter, as the official nuzlocke began after catching Noibat.
That being said, I found that you absolutely have to reset for a Modest Noibat with great IVs, otherwise Halas Machop and Makuhita will be 3HKOs instead of 2HKOs.
Dulse:
The only way to win against his Furfrou is with great RNG, as the Headbutt will 2HKO (3 with Oran Berry):
- Confuse Ray (55 accuracy) has to hit = 55%
- Confused has to last 3+ turns out of 2, 3, 4, 5, where on the final turn it will attack, so basically only 4 and 5 out of these = 50%
- it has to hit itself in confusion 3 times (and self-hitting got nerfed to 33%) = 3.6%
- Headbutt must not flinch me and must not crit
= Managed after 50 attempts
Hau:
Another fight you will need incredible RNG for. His Litten must not paralyze or burn with Lick/Ember respectively, your 55 accuracy Supersonic has to land on turn 1, and Litten has to hit itself in confusion (which has to last for 3+ turns) 3 times. You can't hit yourself to his Noibats Supersonic, and his Pikachu will likely 2HKO you with Thundershock or Quick Attack, especially after having your Defense lowered by Littens Leers and your HP lowered by his previous mons, meaning your 55 accuracy Supersonic absolutely has to land on turn one and it has to hit itself twice.
This fight took me 40 attempts.
Hala:
His mons have perfect IVs and are fully EV trained, Machop with 252 on HP+Speed, Makuhita on HP+SpDef and Crabrawler on HP+Def.
Machop must go for Focus Energy over Revenge, which brings Noibat to very low, Makuhita even lower and Crabrawler then kills with either Pursuit (which deals 70%) or Z move.
After 44 attempts, I got incredibly lucky:
Noibat 2HKOd, Machop decided to Focus Energy. Noibat at full HP (43). Makuhita comes.
Makuhita Fake-Outed, then lowrolled on Arm Thrust and got 2HKOd, leaving Noibat with 24 HP. Crabrawler comes.
Z move would still kill, and so would a medium or high roll Pursuit from Crabrawler.
Luckily, it went for a Pursuit and low rolled, leaving Noibat with 12 HP, only dealing 12. This is incredibly low, as in previous attempts, Pursuit dealt up to 20.
Noibat was incredibly lucky to crit with Gust, then outsped the speed tie and killed with a 2nd Gust, what would have been a 3HKO.
This fight took me 44 attempts.
Dexio:
Lv 16 Espeon outspeeds + OHKOs my lv 20 mons (30 Speed IV + 120 EV, and Bagon even has a Jolly nature) with Psybeam, while my mons could barely 2HKO it. Not even the Headbutt or super effective Bite from a 30 IV 130 Atk EV Bagon.
It took me about 150 attempts simply to reach island 2, and Dexio was another wall. Every named trainer will hard wall you. Technically, every single fight is possible. However, you will need incredible RNG for every single named trainer. An actual nuzlocke without checkpoints before and after every major fight is therefore not possible. And this is coming from someone who attempted and beat a "unevolved babys only, setup moves banned, HC nuzlocke" in Platinum, and also did an Emerald Kaizo HC Nuzlocke.

He said he didn’t know if triple protect is possible. Protect actually halves in chance every time you use it so if you use it once it’s 100% chance to then 50% then 25% and so on. Hope this helps someone!

So I haven't looked into it, but I heard in some other HC nuzlocke videos that Lusamine has purely random AI, just like a wild pokemon, and that's why she'll make rather... Interesting decisions with her moves. Helps clutch out wins you shouldn't get, but it makes pivoting against her basically impossible.
So glad to see Martian Manhunter get some love! He's my favorite superhero.

I really like how generation seven had totem Pokémon and their unique trials instead of bring yet another region with gym leaders and their gyms.
( Also game freak had the right idea making Pokémon sun and moon actually harder than most other Pokémon games that are so easy my cousin's who are five and two could beat them with their hand tied behind their backs. )
A triple protect, quadruple protect, any number after that protect are all possible, it's just that your chance is 100% with the first one, the second in a row is 100%/3, the third in a row is 100%/9, the fourth is 100%/27 and so forth
