Crochet Patchwork Squares Blanket and Pattern

- Hi,
In today's video I show you a blanket that I'm calling The Crocheted Patchwork Squares Blanket.
This blanket is made entirely of leftover yarn from other projects.
It is the oldest project in my project/yarn/crochet pile: 2012
That's right this project was started in March 2012.
Finished in September 2020.
Finally wrote some notes and did a youtube video in January 2022.
I'm ready to let this blanket/project go. It will be listed for sale in my Etsy shop: grannysquarepeg

Girl! Please don't call it your pile of shame. I have a green and white Chevron blanket that took me 20 years (not joking) to finish. Creative minds have so many things going on that we get either bored or distracted by the next project. I rotate between crochet, cross stitch, & quilting. I tend to sew & quilt in the summer. Crochet and needle work in the winter. I love this blanket and I have so many little leftovers I now have a plan for! Thanks so much!

I just can’t stop saying how much I love it - look at all those colors - looks just as great up close as it does from a distance. I’m making a blanket now for a friend but with larger squares and it’s a theme granny square

I saved alot of scrap yarns, I made my mother and sister a vest with some and I used the most to try the ripple stitch ( making it without a written pattern) my grandmother told me how she made hers so I practiced with scraps and my father took it when it was long enough to cover him and fit his bed- hahaha

Thank you, I realized that I couldn't part with it, so it's staying with me.
I started a single crochet twin size blanket while I was in 9th or 10th grade and finished when my daughter was in kindergarten (about 8 years later)
Long time to sit in the project pile! It's so easy to start a blanket but so hard to finish one! lol

Thanks. I'm keeping the blanket just long enough to write up my notes so I can make another one, then hopefully I can find it a good home!! I think it would make a perfect cat/dog blanket.

I don't remember if I mentioned the yarn but I used leftovers from Caron Simply Soft. I used a very light green, heather green and light country blue. All the yarn in this blanket is some sort of leftover from other projects, a true scrappy blanket!
It is a lovely blanket. I was given a blanket to finish by my mom that she started back in 1980. She can no longer crochet or knit due to her hands and MS, and I am trying to figure out what she stitch she used. There are no piles of shame, just works you took some time to finish and enjoy making.
