    beyond thrilled to show you all the process of assembling the subscriber patchwork blanket! i tested out an interesting technique by attaching the patches through sewing them together instead of crocheting. sewing on top of patches is much more challenging than i predicted, but in the end it was also a huge time saver! stay til the end to see the whole crochet blanket come together!

    I can't believe you were able to join these squares by using a sewing machine. I've NEVER known anyone to ever do that. But, your finished blanket is truly lovely. I love the border, it definitely was the icing on the cake. Congratulations on a job well done.

    I think an effective way to sew it together might be to treat it like a Corner To Corner blanket. That way the mass of the blanket can always be outside of the machine as you zigzag around the edge of the diagonal line you’re on.

    I‘d have sewn row by row and then connected the rows, because then the question of how to fit it all inside the machine will not arise. I think transparent yarn is much more temperamental than cotton yarn. Pair that with a basic looking sewing machine and problems will arise. The blanket itself is gorgeous!

    Did you use a ballpoint needle? That could help and monofilament is impossible to use for the very reason you saw. Good job for not throwing a fit and giving up.

    • @itserinb

      @itserinb I thought that's what you had for thread and in the bobbin. The clear thread.

  • @BBFCCO733
    @BBFCCO733 Год назад +1

    This seems like a great idea. I never thought about sewing the squares together. Is it durable? Which stitch did you use? I might try this next time as I have been stalling completing a granny blanket, dreading the "seaming" part.

    • @itserinb
      @itserinb  Год назад +1

      IMO it’s pretty durable, I used the largest zigzag stitch 💖

    I'm curious, what kinda of thread and settings did you use? I've never sewed a crochet blanket together but have considered it

    • @itserinb
      @itserinb  Год назад +1

      So I used transparent thread and medium tension, but I honestly would recommend sticking with standard cotton thread because the clear thread messes up in the machine constantly. I also mentioned that the tension settings were constantly changed depending on how thick the patches were! Difficult to get started but it gets better :)
