I’ve been cutting up chicken 🐔 all of my life. We have a poultry farm and our family has been doing it for over 110 years. Fantastic job there Ray Mack on cooking that good Lipton soup chicken.
I rember watching my mother cut up a chicken.💓The last time I cut up a chicken I made a pot of soup for myself and my sister. It wore me out so now I use chicken parts.☺
When it comes to adding seasoning, I love your phrase, “Go until your ancestors say stop.” Thanks again, Chef Ray for another easy recipe and video of a meal that looks so mouthwatering good that one just can’t wait to try it.
My hubby is half black/white. If he cooks and the food is underseasoned I tell him oh so you were listening to your white ancestors this time around with the seasoning 😆
My heart is so happy. Our family of 10 made this dish on a regular basis. It is so easy to make and it's delicious. We would make 2 big trays and the house smelled amazing. So happy to see this dish.
Hey brother! I use a very similar recipe. Sometimes for a diff spin, I will add turmeric, coriander, and Sazon by Goya, and if available a half large diced fine poblano pepper and a half green bell. Tastes same but with Mexican flair. Could also add diced tomatoes. This is a staple in our house! NOTHIN beats down home cooking
I’m taking this recipe. I prefer dark meat in my casserole so I’m using boneless CK thighs. I gonna add veggies like celery, carrots and frozen peas or chopped broccoli. We call that a complete meal around here. Mom works for a living. Thank you for your channel!!🙏❤️
You had me a broccoli. I think that’s all that was missing. I make something similar to this with a lot of veggies. Eggplant, yellow squash, red onions, potatoes, mushrooms, and Brussel sprouts.
Made this caserole for dinner tonight. I tried to use similar spices but of course mine has to be a bit new-yo-rican. It was absolutely delicious! And this will definitely be a staple in my kitchen. Thanks! Looking forward to checking out your other recipes.

OHMYGOSH! Thank you for sharing this recipe! This is an old school dish that I made as a teenager in the 1980s. I had forgotten all about it! This is the kind of dish I crave these days! I'm going to make it for Sunday dinner tomorrow! 😊 Thanks for sharing!
I remember it, too! It used to be called “Ladybug Chicken” or “Lazy Day Chicken” because it cooked on its own so that you could do other things while it baked.
My mom go a recipe from the Lipton onion soup box! Brown sugar, vinegar & the soup mix if I remember correctly. More like a sweet & sour flavor, pour over chicken pcs, which I skin first & bake. I serve it with rice! I love the web for finding recipes!

RAY MACK, my brother, my go-to soul food recipe man!!!! My husband wasn't feeling well when I started prepping everything for this meal last night so I could cook it today. At first, he said he wasn't going to try to eat any today because he had a stomach ache and that he would eat some tomorrow, BUT as the scent of that garlic powder, Weber seasoning, and other seasonings in the dish traveled through the house, when it was done he said, "I'm going all in!! It smells too good! I want you to tell Ray Mack that he's a genius!" He said all that while wolfing down 2 bowls of the casserole plus some fresh frozen field peas with ham hocks that I also cooked. And, on top of that, he said his stomach wasn't hurting anymore lol! Ray, I will be cooking this again soon! It was DELICIOUS!!!!! Thanks for sharing this recipe!😊💖💖💖
I haven't tried the onion soup mix. But I do use Rice-A-Roni in the same way. I'm going to use the lipton's onion soup the next time I make this chicken dish with the rice. Thank you 😊 God bless you and your family 🙏🤗
I learned to cut up chicken many yrs ago watching my mom do it. Pretty easy, just learning where the joints are and chop chop. No problem. Absolutely going to try this recipe. Looks SO good!
This is definitely a recipe that I will use. It looks delicious, Ray! I love watching you cook bc your tastebuds and style of cooking is much like my own and what I grew up with! Keep doing what you do! In this dish as far as flavor goes, you have to remember that your going to get the flavor from the chicken as well!
That will be on the menu next weekend! That looks delicious brother! I don’t know where you come up with your recipes, but you need to write a cookbook!. I’d be the first one in line to buy it! Happy Fathers Day to you! Thank you for sharing!
I have made this dish since the early 70's. A lady I worked with gave me her recipe called "Forgotten Chicken" when I asked her as she was an older lady and fabulous cook. We became good friends and I was a newly wed back then. I asked her for a recipe as I was having both sets of parents to dinner just shortly after we got back from our honeymoon. After I invited both sets of parents to dinner, I thought about it and thought, "What in the world did I just get myself into"? LOL Well, luckily for me, Mary was ready with recipes already in her stored memory for "Forgotten Chicken" and to make a simple Lime Chiffon Pie to serve for our first dinner party as newly weds. The Forgotten Chicken was a hit, and so was the Lime Chiffon Pie and they were both so easy to make so there was hardly any stress for me that evening. Seeing your video of your version "Best Lipton Onion Chicken Casserole" brought back some good memories for me. Sadly, I lost my good friend about 15 years ago. She and I remained good friends all those years. I have not made this dish in quite a while, and once the weather cools down a bit so I will want to use my oven again, I'm going to make this Chicken dish and I will think of you and my friend Mary, Thank you for sharing your love of good food with all of us. I enjoyed watching your video very much.
That casserole is EVERYTHING! I use stove top stuffing, half cream of chicken, half cream of mushroom and a little sour cream with celery and onion. I want to try your recipe with rice! You brought the pain today Pastor! #delicious
My mother always made a variation of this when I was younger and it was my favorite thing to eat, I always requested it for my birthday. Loving the changes you made, I will make it soon!
Ray Mack, it definitely looks delicious. My Mother made the best chicken and rice on the stovetop and it was delicious. Look forward to the printable recipe. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽

My kids are grandparents now but this is a dish I made often when they were growing up. We needed two chickens and had to use a Thanksgiving size 'roaster'. Your recipe has some additions I'm sure are an improvement on my recipe. This is the one dish all my adult kids first asked for, after they'd moved out and set up their own households. (The second recipe they asked for was 'Beef and Noodles', from a Betty Crocker cookbook I got as a wedding gift. The noodles were home made and SO good.)
Adding water makes perfect sense because several of your main ingredients, rice, canned chicken soup, onion soup mix, bouillon or whatever form you choose to use, all would use water if used in other recipes. I am definitely going to try this one very soon.
