Stumbled upon this channel last night. It is officially the best ASMR channel ever. Period. I used to love comics back in the day, so this is just really great and relaxing and INTERESTING (which most asmr channels are not). Thanks for this, chycho!
Wow. I very rarely comment, but I had to log in just to say what gems these comic ASMR videos have been for me! I collected comic books for years, and this has been a crazy trip down memory lane. I miss spending hours in musty ass comic shops looking for that perfect addition to my collection.
Awesome! Happy to share and glad to hear that you're enjoying... and I 100% agree, there is something about comic book stores that is weirdly very appealing and scary and musty and overwhelming at the same time, not to mention all the 'eccentric' people you run into... gives you a very unique view of society that's for sure :)
This might just be the first Chycho-video I ever watched.. With such an amazing intro to what was to become a fully committed relationship with the hobby, I cannot thank you enough for all you've done. For all of the content that since has resonated deeply within me. From the content of love, and understanding, of life, nature, math, science, society, and the overall inspiration to good-clean-living. Thank you for all of the sweet feels, the chill vibes, and the love, put into all your projects. I sincerely thank you from the bottom, to the edge, of my being. Peace /HikiNiki
The Tomb of Dracula you showed with the Silver Surfer appearance crosses over with Dr. Stange. I had those comics in the 70's, I bought them off the rack. That storyline is one of the most memorable I ever read, still to this day. Really classic stuff.
SunbeamsSting Ya, I was so happy when I got the books and started going through them. I've read through most of the Valiants now and they are absolutely amazing. Daredevil, well, it's Daredevil and I'm super excited about the second season coming up on NetFlix. And the older horror books and the Master of Kung Fu, those books are the best copies I have seen anywhere. It's a great time to be buying none-hot books on ebay, and anywhere really :)
Ya me too, love Daredevil. As for my summer reading, I already have about 50 books put aside and I'll be adding to them as well... love summer reading season, especially trade paper backs at the beach :) Hope you have a great summer reading session as well, it looks to be pretty exciting on all fronts.
+David Held Yup, it's crazy. I usually end up buying a book or two from a seller and checking them out before buying/investing any serious money on them. Interesting community there.
I wish this guy was my teacher. if some of my teachers put half as much interest into their subjects as this guy, they would much more interesting and awesome!
+Whatever No I haven't read that series, I've heard great things about it though. Just looked it up, Stephen King wrote the first 5 and then Scott Snyder... cool... I may have to check this out :)
Wish I knew/hung out, with people like you Chycho. Sadly, I'm bipolar, hate going anywhere or hanging out. (Not a suicidal bipolar person tho, death blows and I hate when people I know do it, so I don't get close to many. 😣😉)
Did you get DD 158 through, I believe, to around DD 181 ---- that was the Frank Miller run. I used to have them all, back in the day they were extremely hot and pricey. I can't remember the number, but if you have all of The tomb of Dracula you will have the first appearance of Blade. A sweet and valuable investment, indeed.
Unfortunately I still don't have DD #158 yet but I do have almost all the other Miller books, and I'm happy to say that I do have Tomb of Dracula #10, the first Blade.
oOsmileyfaceOo ! Depends on a lot of things. Price, condition, reason... why are you buying? Is this strictly for investment? For pleasure, reading? For both? Are you trying to fill a collection? Are you starting one? Are you buying in lots or singles? Which Star Wars #1 is it? The three issue reprints (if i remember correctly), or is it for the series? Personally, for me, the condition of Star Wars #1 would have to be really good, mint, before I would pass up 70 dark horse books... I have and read some of the dark horse books, and they are great stories, especially dark empire. If you are not too concerned about getting your hands of a mint copy of #1, that issue is not very expensive. I've seen issue #1 to 15 go for less than $100 in the last year (maybe would go for more now that disney is running with it).
So I'm looking to just buy some comics for reading material. Would you say 25 dollars for a lot of 70 various marvel, dc, dark horse, and independents is worth it?
what kind of mic do you use? or do you use multiple mics? it picks up the plastic sounds so clearly, yet it's pinned up right by your neck. great sound from that.
how much do you think i should spend on The Dark Knight Returns part 4? ive seen lost of them on amazon and i have no idea how much that comic is worth so i wanted to get your opinion before i get ripped off or something i would gladly appreciate it
+Integration Flow What I would do is go to ebay and do a search for completed listing and see how much it has sold for. I just did the search and it looks like #1 to #4, the full set in NM condition is selling for around $100.... #4 is selling anywhere between $10 for a none-graded one to $40 for a CGC 9.2... not bad.
You have such an amazing voice for ASMR! The content in this video is really great too! I don't read single issue comics but I do enjoy the occasional graphic novel. If you have any suggestions of graphic novels I should read, please let me know =]
Graphic Novel recommendations, most definitely: Amazing epic feel good story: "Bone" by Jeff Smith Funny crack you up intelligent read: "The Adventures of Barry Ween, Boy Genius" Adult scary/supernatural: any graphic novel from "Hellblazer" Epic must read runs: "Transmetropolitan" and "Sandman" Superhero one of the best craziest read: "Lobo: The Last Czarnian" A masterpiece of story telling: "Slaine: The Horned God" by Pat Mills, Simon Bisley Hope you enjoy :)
By the way, I have a longer recommendation list on my site [chycho.com] in the About Page under "Comics and Graphic Novels". Hope that helps and you find something you like :)
chycho I just happened to come across the first TPB of Transmetropolitan, and boy is it fantastic! Thanks for the recommendation! btw, do you read Saga?
Andy Mac You're very welcome, Andy... you are in for one sweet ride with that series... the name Spider Jerusalem is soon to be etched in your mind forever :) As for Saga, I haven't started reading it yet but plan to. Just waiting until I can do a marathon on it like I did Transmetropolitan and The Walking Dead (I went through the first 70 issues in a week, the best cliff hanger books ever).
For sure will do regarding more comic videos, and 100% i've read The Walking Dead. I'm way behind but will catch up with a marathon read at some point, it's a phantasmal series.
chycho I wish I had you as a teacher, I suffer from dyscalculia (diagnosed as a soph in college), so a friendly face who can explain things directly would have made high school so much easier XD
Yeah man, Stephen King is the main reason I checked the series out. I don't buy the individual comics themselves but I get the hardback volumes. It tends to lean toward "horror" as the name would suggest, if you dig that kind of thing. These aren't the Twilight vampires who sparkle in the sunlight after all :)
+Whatever haha... Awesome! Thanks for mentioning that. I'm not really into the pretty twilighty vamps that are all the rage right now... I like my horror thank you very much. I'll definitely check into this, just added it to my list... I am a floppy collector though, so i'll have to see how hard to find/expensive the first prints are... for reading though, the trades will do very well... thanks again for the recommendation, looking forward to the read... peace :)
I've been collecting comics for over 30 years and two months ago I bought my first two cgc graded comics, they came in a lot. I followed that up by buying two cgc graded Omega Men #3 three weeks ago... first Lobo. I bought these two just before the announcement came that they hired a writer to put together a Lobo movie... big smiles big smiles :))
Thanks, brother, and I agree with you regarding cgc. It's a good feeling not worrying about damaging the books. For me though, unless i win the lottery, I'll probably only cgc books that I have that I plan on selling. The cost of get a book slabbed is insane as far as I'm concerned. I would rather spend that money buying more books.
+chycho yeah completely agree it cost so much to buy them slabbed and even get one slabbed, unless it's a significant issue to me then I'd rather spend the money on more comics.
A long time. Sometimes up to 12 hours depending on how many other videos I referenced, i.e., what I have going on in the video. It takes a lot of time putting these together.
+Chr1s2023TDWP I deleted my comment because I didn't want to argue, but telling someone to repent and find Christ is basically saying your way of thinking is wrong and they need God to straighten them out, witch in my opinion is very judgemental and now your saying I don't think straight? maybe you should find Christ
+Human987 Thanks, I like it as well. As for Saruman, some have compared me to him, but not many. The person that most people compare my look to is Serj Tankian from System of a Down.
+kyle finn haha... real story, Hank Williams got a lot of his lyrics and song ideas and titles from romance comic books. Learned that from another comment on one of my comic book videos and looked it up, true story.
wow your videos are long you look like a nice guy is my collection good i spent around 300 is dare devil good and would you recomend silver age dare devil then moderen
If you love your comic books, then you're comic book collection is awesome. I've been getting the batman end game books as well.... love the superman cover, one of the best covers ever. As for daredevil, so far my favourite stories arc is Born Again by Miller, and the newer stuff is very good as well. Worth the read.

do you also sell books on ebay or do you just buy them
The Tomb of Dracula you showed with the Silver Surfer appearance crosses over with Dr. Stange. I had those comics in the 70's, I bought them off the rack. That storyline is one of the most memorable I ever read, still to this day. Really classic stuff.
Cool, thanks for the heads-up :)

chycho Daredevil is one of my favo superheroes.
So you have enough fun reading to do this summer :-) Lot of reading pleasure to you Chycho.

You can't go wrong with either Tomb of Dracula or Werewolf by Night. Both are among my favorite books.
Yes!!!
This is very good ASMR! Thank you!
You're very welcome :)
I hear you! on E-bay they are calling any book that has not fallen apart VG
+David Held Yup, it's crazy. I usually end up buying a book or two from a seller and checking them out before buying/investing any serious money on them. Interesting community there.
I wanted the video to go on forever. So therapeutic. I selfishly need you to buy more comics to unbox - haha.
JFli haha Awesome! Me too actually :)
...that said, once I build up some funds I'll definitely be doing more lot/auction buys. Fun :)
These are great. Glad I subscribed.

Will do, brother.
I was never that much into comics but I love the American Vampire series from Vertigo comics. Have you heard of it?
+Whatever No I haven't read that series, I've heard great things about it though.
Just looked it up, Stephen King wrote the first 5 and then Scott Snyder... cool... I may have to check this out :)
You kind of look like Serj Tankian from System of a Down
1headphoneguy I was wondering if I was the only one thinking that.
Thank god I'm not the only one.

I enjoyed this video. Can you tell me what video software you use to add images/screenshots into your video? Thanks!
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Can you give me some advice should I buy a 1977 #1 Star Wars comic or should I buy a lot of 70 dark horse comics with no duplicates
oOsmileyfaceOo ! Depends on a lot of things. Price, condition, reason... why are you buying? Is this strictly for investment? For pleasure, reading? For both? Are you trying to fill a collection? Mozzie0610 36 cents a pop including shipping for some possible amazing entertainment that you can also share with others. Not bad :)
what kind of mic do you use? or do you use multiple mics? it picks up the plastic sounds so clearly, yet it's pinned up right by your neck. great sound from that.
air two it's just a lapel mic that cost me around $30. Low tech here.
How did you come to liking Daredevil? I have never heard of that comic book series.
Daredevil is awesome! Highly recommend. Here is a reading of his first appearance: ruclips.net/video/iatBuBli8kI/видео.html
You look quite a lot like serj tankian bro :)
Love System of a Down :)
Here is my review of their music: chycho.blogspot.com/2012/12/system-of-down-hypnotize.html
I love the drawing behind you did u draw it or buy it?
+Kaspars Lilo Thanks, we love it as well. Bought it in the early 1990's from Toronto (if I recall correctly).
So when did the guy from gold rush sart doing comic books

Niall payton For sure, will do. As for the art, we got it a long time ago, 15 to 20 years, from Ontario, Canada.
chycho - every time I see the poster art painting with a dobbie I think of the late Rick James.
Is it cold in your home?
US Authority It is in the winters ;)
Please do more comic videos! Would you do a reading of The Walking Dead comics? (Do you like them?)
For sure will do regarding more comic videos, and 100% i've read The Walking Dead. I'm way behind but will catch up with a marathon read at some point, it's a phantasmal series.
Anthrax's Scotty Ian is a comic collector?
So is Serj Tankian from System of a Down :)
may I ask what you do for a living?
***** I teach math. If you want to check out my style of teaching, see my math videos, they seem to be popular :)

Word
Have you got any cgc graded comics?
I've been collecting comics for over 30 years and two months ago I bought my first two cgc graded comics, they came in a lot. I followed that up by buying two cgc graded Omega Men #3 three weeks ago... first Lobo. I bought these two just before the announcement came that they hired a writer to put together a Lobo movie... big smiles big smiles :))
+chycho very nice, good buy my man. I've just bought my first cgc and it looks incredible, I love the protection of it. Very good video
+chycho yeah completely agree it cost so much to buy them slabbed and even get one slabbed, unless it's a significant issue to me then I'd rather spend the money on more comics.
how long do your videos take to process? I'm approaching the 8th hour
A long time. Sometimes up to 12 hours depending on how many other videos I referenced, i.e., what I have going on in the video. It takes a lot of time putting these together.
Who was this seller
Just someone dumping their collection on ebay. What do you think? Good buy? :)
I don't sell them expensive.
If anybody is interested.
All my comics are in mint condition after 30 years.
What's your occupation and do you smile weed or something? (Asking Cuz of poster on wall)

me to find Christ? I'll never take "Godly" advice from a non Christian. Sorry though, I understand you tried to delete your comment.
Your beard is really awesome. Has anybody ever told you that you look pretty similar to saruman from Lord of the Rings?
+Human987 Thanks, I like it as well. As for Saruman, some have compared me to him, but not many. The person that most people compare my look to is Serj Tankian from System of a Down.
It would seem to me that Spider-Man is to Marvel what Batman is to DC, more than Daredevil.
Agreed.
Like watching a serial killer talk about his victims.
I didnt know serj tankian likes comic books
+kyle finn Where do you think I get all my lyrics from ;)
+chycho makes sense to me now !
+kyle finn haha... real story, Hank Williams got a lot of his lyrics and song ideas and titles from romance comic books. Learned that from another comment on one of my comic book videos and looked it up, true story.
