This video is a taste of the real everyday life in Norway made by Norwegians. The true story. Exaggerated and fun :)

Travel to Norway, going to Norway, how is it in Norway, Norwegian life, life in Norway, study in Norway, Norwegian
I don't even look for Starbucks when I'm traveling out of the country. Even in the US Starbucks is expensive and overrated.
Ronald, you are the best! it's like having a friend in Norway! You tell it like it really is, and you are funny too. keep up the great work!
An incredibly nice and motivational message to get. You make it easier for us to keep making videos. Thank you so much :)
So funny, when you suggested an alternative to MacDonald I was afraid you'd show us a Madpakke 😅
Ronald..you are the best thing on RUclips. Witty, honest and funny.
Probably worth mentioning as well is that the public transport ticket in Oslo is valid for all transport (trams, buses, metro and city trains) for up to an hour - with as many switches you like during that hour.. So if you're going far or need more than one transport, it is not that expensive.. But buy your ticket before boarding, or you pay almost double from the driver..
Anja M Hi Anja M - thank you so much for the information. People coming to Oslo, Noway need to know this!! Post us more useful advices, if you have Anja M:)
Anja M , we dont even have public transport where I live. My state has almost no transport unless u take taxi type. A few towns have a bus, but it is horrible and takes hours. 🤣
Nothing where I live thow. Everyone just has cars here.
In portugal were i live is the same for an hour u can use watehver u want, and is 1,20€
And where you can buy the ticket?
You guys are such honest RUclipsrs. I have seen so many RUclipsrs talk about Norway but your channel is the most useful. Instead of painting a pretty picture you guys give honest details so that people can have realistic expectations. This will help avoid a lot of mistakes we tourists would easily make. I’m really looking forward for a well prepared and enjoyable trip to Norway as soon as it open for tourists! 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks Anjana. That has always been our mission
The "Big Mac Index" is a fun way of gauging the cost of living in any given city or country.
This channel is so addictive. Like I’m not planning on going to Norway, and yet I can’t stop
Haha, me too. Don’t know what rabbit hole I fell down but I keep coming back for more Ronald! I’ll never go but I love the videos.
4:19 It's our one of national meal. I'll pack some cheap böreks from Turkey when I'm traveling to Oslo next time!!!
Oh, I would love to taste them - direct from Turkey. Welcome back Burak :)
Turkey is cheap to eat
thank you Ronald. you are always helpful and entertaining.
Great info! When comes to answer the youtuber question - you are so kind and patient to reply to them, good job.....you are making me a serious fan of yours now :)
Big Macs are just as expensive here in California. But I would never go abroad and eat McDonald's. Please do a video showing where ordinary Norwegians like to go out to eat, and what they have.
Both McDonald's and Burger King are popular in Norway and many Norwegians do eat their burgers. It's expensive, but the salaries in Norway is also much higher than most other places. So the prices are not that expensive for Norwegians. But if you want an alternative, try a gas station. Yes, actually. They're more like a 7eleven than a gas station. The only difference is the gas pump outside. And most of them do makes good burgers. Hotdogs too. Especially convenient if you are on a road trip.
Hey Hey guys.. haven't we learned anything from Ronald & Mads? MATPAKKE.. and don't forget the paper!
Thanks for taking the time to share guys. Really useful information about the savings to be made between the two trains from Gardemoen.

I live in a tropical country and is hot all days i want to feel extreme cold one time in my life. I mean love Norway and your videos AWESOME.
Claus Valca Row Hey Claus, thanx a lot for your comment! We also dream about making a video from awsome placec in the North. I come from Troms and the Lyngenfjord. A place bathed in Northern Light during winter and with a range of powerful alpine mountains. So hopefully we will make a video from that part of Norway soon.
Have you considered putting together tours? You’d be great at it!
Oh my goodness yes!
Great tip, another great video
Thanks 😃
OMG first time I watch your videos and I must admit it, I am your fan, you are funny and also a good adviser !!! x
What you write makes us in the team very happy!!! Thanks a lot Mr for watching and engaging. Hope you enjoy more of our videos. See you around :)
Awesome video and yes the spinach cheese borek is awesome. I've lived in Oslo for two years and I used to live off those especially running late in the morning and in need of a quick lunch pick up.
I still live on them - they are so good ;)
Is the borek a bread made from wheat flour?
Ronald ...You make my day ! I was in Skien and got a parking ticket ....that was really expensive . Have you done anything on parking and driving in Norway? .... The speed traps and the tickets you might get ??? I love Norway but you need to know how to get around . Thanks for all the help !
Thanks and poor you. We have not, but that's a great idea Robert. Thanks for sharing
wow made a huge difference! thnx Ronald:)

Darryl Barker Tusen takk
+Darryl Barker *Det er veldig hjelpsomt or morsomt.
"Moro" is actually a noun, but it's widely accepted by younger people to use it as an adjective.
Kristian Martin Tvenning
I know it's a year late, but thank you for the correction on "Moro". For some reason, I missed your comment until just now. I appreciate the help! Ha det godt!
Thanks a million!
We are happy to help:)
Wonderful video and knowledge (!)
Ronald I just woke up and I'm re-watching your videos to start off a good day ❤️🌹
Oh, now I just woke up and you made my day elif :) Thanks and have a good weekend. Me and Mads might be recording a new video this weekend.
Always informative. Taak
Wow great! I appreciate you bro the way you have shown to save money❤ I am gonna subscribe your channel. Thank you so much for your nice video.
Thank u sir for ur kind information, keep updating us by uploading such nice videos, also make a video on the cheapest location in Oslo where one can live and the cheapest food one can eat. As I have heard food is very expensive In Norway.
Rema 1000 is also good because you can pick up fresh snap-frozen whale beef from Ellingsen Vesterålen.
Also, to save money, don't go to Oslo because it's a death trap.
For cheap coffee - Statoil Coffee Kopp
Stay away from the bigger cities in general when you're in norway, if you wanna save money. Most of the cities in norway are rated to be among the most expensive cities in Europe in general, clothing and accessories you should not buy here, most likely where you came from it's cheaper, and you should stick to that. Norway is not really a fashion country, so you you're better off in Italy or France xD.
In the stores there's always an expensive brand and a cheap brand, cheap brands here are still high quality compared to the rest of the world, because of all the laws we have around food, so you might as well buy that. You can save up to 50-75% on groceries, if you only stick too the cheap brands.
The words whale and beef are two different thing you mean whale meat and or blubber but beef is only from bovine/ cows
Thank you Ronald! I m going to Oslo next summer .. I ll follow your advices! Nice!!
We are happy to help. Welcome to Norway and Oslo Maria. Say hi if you see me in the streets :)
Yes! I would love to met you there!!! kkkk.. The way you talk is funny, interesting, and helpful!! See you!!
Ronald, do you have some tip about Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen)..?Thank you!!
Hehe, sorry have not been there. But think most people can do the walk to the top. But you should have good shoes. The walk takes some hours.
YOURWAY2NORWAY Yes, I have one specific for hiking!!! Solomon...thanks I ll be there on 29/30 june!! You re nice!!🙏🙏😘

Es lindo escuchar. Muchas gracias. Di hola si me ves en la calle. Pasar un buen rato en Noruega :)
YOURWAY2NORWAY por supuesto! Muchas gracias!
Please please! :D Could you make a video on architecture, planning in public transportation, housing, urban life versus rural life and maybe, a video on the differents tribes in Norway. ( I'm a townplanner...) I haven't watch if you have made videos on those topics. So please excuse me, if you did! Anyway's, i been watching your videos...even on lunch break today. Great job !
We were just thinking about the same topic. House spotting in Norway. Thanks 👌🍻
They did a good one from a tram last week, pointing out different architecture
Great Advice!!! Tak Skal Du Ha!!!
Thanks for the video ! i plan to visit Tromso in november 2017 and i'll probably spend 1 day in Oslo. I know this is a 2015 video but it helps ! Thanks, greetings from Brazil
Ola tudo bem Augusto. The advices are still applicable. Tromsø is a beautiful city during winter. I have lived there for many years. Bem-vindo a Noruega :)
Thanks to this video, I found out about Narvesen before even stepping into the country. Have never eaten so many hot dogs (Narvesen polse) in my life!!!
Haha, poor you. Cheap price yes, but a slightly cheap taste too. But now you know whats this nations favorite food is like. Hope you get a chance to try something else.
Definitely! Reindeer meat, meatballs with brown sauce, and fish soup! So delicious!
Impressed! And good for you :) Reindeer meat is delicious and fish soup is a favotite.
Thanks for the tips, will visit in 2 weeks time
+Nathalia Hendrawan Welcome to Norway. Hope you enjoy :)
+Nathalia Hendrawan Welcome to Norway. Hope you enjoy :)
Great!!!
Cool to hear. Thanks :)
I was like "hell yeah" when I saw the børek lol. Greetings from Turkey!
***** Greetings from Norway to Turkey too. We love børek. :)
Tks alot for this. :)
+Hoa Luu Thank you for engaging!
Thankyou✌😉🍀
What is a Borek? What is in it, exactly? I watch (subscribe) you all the time and find your videos equally valuable and hilarious!
Hi Andi Hurtig - thanks for your very nice comment. You make us happy. So, to your question; Borek / Børek is kind of an empanada from the Balkan / Turkey area. Its bread baked with different ingrediens like feta cheese and spinach (my favourite) or with mushroms and tomatos or potatos. You will find them in small vegetable shops and kiosks. Its very good. Cheers from the Y2N team :)
thank you mr. ronald for the tip,who knows maybe i can explore but not in January ha ha h ha .
Thanks a lot for your engagement. We appreciate it a lot. See you soon. Cheers from Ronald and Mads 😀😀
Nice. :D
I like your videos, they are indeed reality checkers in many ways, and you are still Kind, not trashing on Norway, like american travelers trashing on the whole world country by country as if in the U.S. there was not the same or worse.
Now I have a sincere question :
Sweden seems like a thrifty society, at least by judging the IKEA stores where the restaurant menu in so unbelievable cheap and good, and all their items too.
I never been to a Nordic country but what would you say is the price comparison between Sweden and Norway to vacation ?. have you visited Sweeden ?
thanks
Ronald you are amazing me & my wife are coming to Oslo for the first time & have just found your channel 👍 we are landing at TORP so wondering if you have any tips on cheap transfer to Oslo 🙏🏴🇬🇧
Hi guys, welcome to Norway! Sorry, but I am not familiar with the connection between Torp and Oslo. Would think that the bus and train are approx the same. Just don't use taxi at your stay in Oslo and you will save money. Hope you enjoy Oslo. Thanks for engaging and sharing. Cheers from Ronald and Mads. PS, say hello if you meet me in the streets :)
Thanks
+Audrey Thanks :)
Bravo!!! LOL!!!
I hope you will make another video showing what ordinary Norwegians eat and do for fun in Oslo.
Thanks for the idea 👌👌
Nice video. I happened to visit Norway in 1994, and enjoyed it very much. However, I just passed through Oslo, since that was the airport location. It was a business trip, so a bus was chartered to transport a group of us to our destination in Lillihammer.
Oh, Lillehammer 1994 is like some kind of mythology here now, due to the Winter Olympics being held there. So you were one of the lucky ones attending Lillehammer at that year.
Yes. I was part of the technical crew for CBS-TV, the American network broadcasting the '94 Winter Olympics. It turned out, I had a very nice assignment: audio operator for the CBS This Morning broadcast, which was live on the air a 7AM to 9AM EST.. which was 6 hours later in Norway... meaning our crew had a "banker's hours" job, leaving us free to enjoy time shopping and some night life.
And, I did get a chance to attend some of the events and see the competition in Ice Skating. It was a great time!
+Ray Sills did you see Nancy?
Indeed yes.. I was there to see the Kerrigan/Harding matchup. It was quite a "soap opera". And because of all that, the network's ratings were "through the roof" for the event. :)
The epic figure ice skating competittion you mean? Where one tried to smash the knee of the other? I envy you :)
Airport train, LOL. In London, we shunned the express train in favor of the regular Underground, but the *stares* we had to suffer from the early morning commuters were another level (!) They had briefcases, we had suitcases.
Great great video, hopefully I will survive easier!!!! Suscribed now.
+Natuur Fit Thanks! Welcome to our channel :)
+Natuur Fit Thanks! Welcome to our channel :)
tanks
very useful video for me am planing to come there soon! in a budget
Glad you found it useful, Ram. And glad you give us feedback :)
Narvesen was my life saver when i visited Norway
That is interesting to hear. You are not the first person saying this. We did not know Narvesen was such a good helper on a tight budget in Norway. Thanks for watching & commenting :)
What do you think about Deli De Luca? for me was good!
I was watching this and dreamed of going to Norway ages ago. Now that I'm here as a software engineer, pretty much everything is a cash trap even if you earn a million kroners a year 🤣 you dont want to pay much? cook your own food! make your own coffee! walk! :D (of course not applicable with train from gardenmoen, but very much applicable for the rest).
Haha, so true!! Thanks for sharing your awesome saving tips and for sharing your story with us. We appreciate it. Cheers from Ronald and Mads
it would be great f you did a video about having pets, rules regarding animals and how pet friendly norway is
Very nice video. i enjoy the vloging style, where u hold the camera :)
VlogStorm Thanx VlogStorm. You inspired us :-)
Hold that thought and mention me when you win gullsnutten or something:D
Hey Ronald, Can you do one on getting around in Norway? I traveled there many years ago and rented a car. Can a person rent an electric car? Is the cost less than with carbon fueled vehicles?
When I come to Norway, I'll bring some matpakke, then look for some tube food to make some more!
😆👌😆
If I ever go to Norway... I will hire Ronald as my guide... We'll BOTH be happy, save money... AND HAVE FUN. 🤑🍺🍺🍷🧀🦐
Welcome Faith Rada 😀
would love one day to take a train right to the north simply to get a feel for the lie of the land, the vast sky, land, mountains, primal simplicity but cosy and warm, and maybe stay a couple of days in a hut overlooking some lake or something. so I don't know but a train ride overview of Norway? plus hut n sauna, or that sweden?
The train ride between Oslo and Bergen is a favorite among many Norwegians and foreigners. Sauna is from Finland, but it's increasing in popularity here now. So you would be able to enjoy that too. Welcome to Norway james!
My word! C from the little haunted cottage in Ireland 🍀🍀🍀👻👻👻
great
Cool to hear, thanks
ajajaj.. i live in a small town now, and i miss Børek and other street food i can get so easy in Oslo. :)
So great information, but I was wondering about this "Oslo Pass" that I can get for 24/48/72 hours. Does it work on the local train and buses or just buses?
Hi Kevin. It works both with buses, local trains, the tube and the city trams.
Yes but keep in mind the airport isnt local as its in another municipality.
hi, can you do a topic on where to find cheap accomoation across norway? hostel? camp or similar like that ? thanks in advance.
Good idea - maybe we will! What I can say is that places for camping are the cheapes places to stay across Norway. If you like camping and living in a tent - you can do that for free in most places. We have a law her called "Allemannsretten". It says that people can camp wherever - as long as you dont camp close to peoples home. Next step is AirBnb. Hostels and hotels cost more.. Thanks for watching and sharing ideas :)
Wow that's awesome ... good job ...is it safe for a loner to travel Oslo...
Yes, it is! Oslo is not a very big city. Here are more saving advices in Oslo, if you have not already seen this.

Thanks and good luck! Hope to see you in thes streets, say hello if you see me :)
Is Norway always that expensive? I mean I am from Germany and some items are pretty expensive here compared to other countries but what are the general living costs like groceries etc. in Norway?
According to Numbeo groceries Prices in Norway are 81.19% higher than in Germany. However Numbeo haven't updated their info in at least 3 years seeing how a lot of the prices they list for Norway are too low compared too today. This is a link to a Norwegian Online store, the prices there are updated and reflect what groceries stores charge in general. kolonial.no/ I can't help you with translating the page, if you're lucky google translate wont butcher it all into "Potato spank dog with sing Tuesday car".
My pal. You don't travel enough. Zurich, Switzerland makes those prices look positively like a bargain. Big Mac meal in Zurich about €16. Coffee at Starbucks €8+.
Lol, I really dont! And wow, Switzerland is the new Norway. Now I feel like I live in Sweden (which is cheaper than Norway). That is a good feeling. Thanks for sharing prices and enganging - we appreciate it abadplanner1 :)
Hi, Ronald!
How about gasoline/diesel prices??
How about RV traveling?Lots of infrastructure??
Hi John, if you are from the US - gasoline prices in Norway are high. Almost 16 Norwegian kroner for every liter of gasoline. Approx 1.8 US dollar. Thats one of the reasons Norway has a lot of electrical cars. RV is becoming more and more popular among Norwegians. And other Europeans love to travel like this in Norway, due to the spectaculare Fjord and mountain landscape. The roads are ok in most parts. But large and wide highways, you'll only find in some places near the major cities. Otherwise, it's smaller, but good roads.
hi from tel aviv. what about crime and safety?
i love to hear u and enjoy your vlogs very much.
Quite safe, low crime rates 🖐🖐
Norway is generally very safe. But, as every other big cities, there are places and times you should take some extra care. Pick pocketing is most likely the worst you will experience if you are unlucky. Robbery can happen in some places. But as you would do in every other city, don't flash your money, expensive watch and so on. At least not in areas where it's obviously not the best part of the city.
Starbuck coffee is awful! I can't believe how much a Big Mac costs!
Re the cabs, true if you're alone, but if there are 2 or more of you, you pay the same per ride price rather than separate tickets for all the people.
Ronald this is a bit off topic but is it safe to by Hash/Pot while visiting Norway ...Is it legal ? expansive ? etc.
Not legal, but like in cities all over you can get on the streets
