Thanks for sharing this. Core stability is very important for middle-long distance running... particularly when there is ample time to lose or accumulate those milliseconds - seconds over the course of the distance (i.e. 42.2km)... not to mention weakness accumulation which could lead to injury some time down the track. Craig does a good job in articulating these exercises. He also looks to be a very efficient runner based on his form over the years.
It's such a shame that the last 3 comments about this video are spam. Great advice, ever since I began this program I have been running longer and feeling stronger. Thanks dude.
To maintain core stability is quite important to prevent runners from injuries resulting from physical disbalances. Even the risk of an achillodynia is lowered with a good core stability.
I just had to pull out of a marathon two days before running because of injuries. Please do not make the same mistakes I made, dont just run and run, work on the core hard to prevent injuries. I have just signed up for one next year, this time I WILL be ready.
+Sam C I am a beginner runner and I have signed up for half marathon which is about 14 weeks from now. Apart from the core exercises what other cross training exercises would you suggest?
My suggestion would be to substitute some shorter runs with a swim. I would also suggest getting a foam roller from amazon and using it alongside stretching once or twice a week. Also don't run through strong pain, if something hurts its because something is wrong. Also, have fun!!! Enjoy
