had the romeros album in Vietnam father and 3 sons, lost them there should have bought another copy it was sooo good. Pepe was young in 69 but still amazing..
I've started learning to play it and I've only been playing for a year... I just listened to it for the first time in its entirety... lol... lmao... baglsh...holy crap!
Hopefully the 57 dislikes were mouse slips. I have loved this priceless music a long time but only recently did I learn the name of it to be able to find it here. Best music ever performed perfectly.
Excellent version and I agree Anna's is worth seeing and hearing, it will be awesome to hear her play 20 years from now (check the 1975 John Williams version comparing it to a recent one and you'll see what I mean)
For all the Romeros, starting with the father Pepe, this tune is merely a warming-up exercise. They have the technique and feel of the best of Flamenco players.
+Viva Yo They're not trying to impress with their technique. This is good music, and how hard or not it is to play is irrelevant. A lot of people can play it, so what?
+john dow You read me wrong, John. Of course they are not trying to impress anybody, with either technique or interpretation. But I have heard Pepe (Concierto Andaluz that was written by Rodrigo especially for the Romeros) and Angel in a solo concert. When you hear the best, it is only natural to be impressed and to praise them (I did not compare them with anybody else). So please, do not be a reverse snob and pretend that listening to your high school youth orchestra is comparable to listening to the Concertgebouw (for example). Similarly, do not pretend that eating at a great restaurant is not more enjoyable than eating at McDonald's, and commending the chef of the former might be a nice gesture. After all, both serve edible food which serves the same purpose and ends in the same place
Wow this was amazing, and pretty interesting. I am a classical guitarist and learnt asturias when I was 13 years old. It has been 10 years and I havent mastered the song as Angel does (even playing it almost every day, because I love the song). This was amazing because he plays some parts of the song in a different way. Sounds almost the same but his arrangements are better and easier to play! I will study this video... see if I can improve the song :)
most acomplished guitarist be able to master the technics required for a such pieces....but what makes difference is that like Angel Romero...or Pepe you feel the emotion that stirs soul.
@RootsinBrooklyn I completely agree with you on this. God only knows how many interpretations I have heard of this over the years and I can't even decide which one I like the best. There are things I like and dislike about each. But if I had to "guess" at which I like the best I think it would be one Carlos Bonell did about 20 years ago.
Lol I think there must have been a lady near the front who had a bit too much of the sauce! Not sure what "pretentious speed" is meant to mean whoever posted that. Ironically that was a pretentious statement in itself! This is a really entertaining and expressive performance, and Romero has a stunningly light tremolo to die for! He obviously worked his technique to perfection with this piece and so deserves more thought out and less empty criticisms than what some people have said.
On the sheet music for this piece, when the B major chord is played you have a choice to play i really fast tremolo on the B string or play the open B and the high B alternating. The first is labelled as easier exectution and i havent found a video of anyone who doesnt do this, i dont understand why...
This is a fantastic performance. There are a few errors here and there. I couldn't imagine myself ever having the ability to play this well, though. Give the Xuefei Yang version a view. You won't regret it!
Damn he's good-looking. And this is the best version of Leyenda I've heard thus far, including John Williams and Ana Vidovic. Wow. What a hot tamale. Is he single?
A large proportion of the famous heavy metal guitarists were trained in classical guitar. A few that come to mind are Dave Mustaine, Kirk Hammet, and the guys from Evergrey (I think).
@mateuspontesm ofcourse it is... just like diferent cooks create diferent tastes with the same recepie. but there are cooks who get Michelin stars, and there are those who dont. there is a reason for that.
16 years later... this is still the best rendition..... soo beautiful... still...
My favorite version of this piece on you tube. I love that split-second pause he does before the first barre chord strum. Amazing!
WOW
14 years later I can't agree with you more
My favorite rendition of this piece. Any "mistakes" are more than made up for with it's pace and passion.
I love this version. Very Spanish. Very soulful. Beautiful!
Only a Spaniard like Angel can play with the feeling this master piece deserves BRAVO!!!
IMHO this is the best version of Asturias on RUclips. Both fast and with feeling.
Romero's and Williams' versions are the best i have ever heard of leyenda.
bravo. very beautifull
I thoroughly enjoyed listening and viewing this video. What a great guitarist!
this is awesome ... i have no words to express my joy listening to this .... thanks for posting.
incredible performance, heard quite a few performances playing this, but this one is top, even more as it is performed live
definitely a unique interpretation and indeed a beautiful one
This is one of my favorite pieces! He is great!
Que apasionada esta cancion. La adoro´'
Angel is the most soulful classical guitarist , every note he plays articulates with feeling.
That's my favourite Asturias performance .
i learnt this a long time ago and forgot about it. then someone posted it on facebook, what a coincidence :)
absolutely wonderful
Excelente VERSION, it is great, es demasiado buena, great performance
had the romeros album in Vietnam father and 3 sons, lost them there should have bought another copy it was sooo good. Pepe was young in 69 but still amazing..

Very , very good !So much talent God Bless .
incredibile, complimenti al maestro...
absolutely brilliant
I've started learning to play it and I've only been playing for a year... I just listened to it for the first time in its entirety... lol... lmao... baglsh...holy crap!
I remember seeing this on A&E back in the 80s. The whole program includes Claude Bolling's Concerto for Classical Guitar and Jazz Piano.

Hopefully the 57 dislikes were mouse slips.
I have loved this priceless music a long time but only recently did I learn the name of it to be able to find it here. Best music ever performed perfectly.

54 dislikes!!! man whats wrong with these people,,,this is pure perfection !!!!!!
amazing ,,love it,,
My two wishes here are that I wish the recording quality was better and I wish I saw it in person!
Excellent version and I agree Anna's is worth seeing and hearing, it will be awesome to hear her play 20 years from now (check the 1975 John Williams version comparing it to a recent one and you'll see what I mean)
one ' love great music in history .

flat-out brilliant!
I HEAR VOICES at 1:30 , anybody else hear someone saying "oh yeah...i'm blown away!" ???
Eres un crack de la guitarra.
This guy is brilliant...
superb!
true, and i listened again and heard 1 mistake, but still, that was awesome.
That's pretty awesome.
Love is in the air...
sublime!!!!soverbio!!!!....ya la estoy sacando :D
Amazing
incredible
For classical technique Williams is nearly perfect. Romero puts in the emotion in a remarkable performance. Pays your nickel and takes your choice.
most acomplished guitarist be able to master the technics required for a such pieces....but what makes difference is that like Angel Romero...or Pepe you feel the emotion that stirs soul.
Perfect!
Los Romeros son Guitaristos Muy Peligrosos. Watch out!!!
Lovely. I also love Eduardo Fernandes playing this.
Superbe ! Bravo
Jesus fucking christ. The bass in this is intense. The huge rumble of the E string just makes me feel the energy of "Badass".
It really depends on where you live, I have played guitar for over 45 years, and I didn't hear about this song before recently.
muito boa apresentaçao, parabens!
Agreed. He made a mistake in a bad place, but he recovered nicely and didn't look back. This is a great interpretation overall.
very nice sound
@RootsinBrooklyn I completely agree with you on this. God only knows how many interpretations I have heard of this over the years and I can't even decide which one I like the best. I can only play the first 13 measures XD Its a beautiful song, I love it
excellent
wow!
good to hear
G-R-E-A-T!!!!
I think that's the best Leyenda version.
yes, it is
WOW!
classic king
ANGEL!
it usually happens cause interference, try moving to another place while you play or turning volume to 0 while your not playing
Lol I think there must have been a lady near the front who had a bit too much of the sauce! Not sure what "pretentious speed" is meant to mean whoever posted that. youre totally right man
seriously?? the show the world ur supernatural guitar playing skills
bravo lol :) amazing stuff
I just wish the recording quality were higher. I'm sure it was spectacular in person.
Bien interpretetada!

I like the ring his chords have to them. Many others' chords lose that punch at high speed.
Damn he's good-looking. And this is the best version of Leyenda I've heard thus far, including John Williams and Ana Vidovic. Wow. What a hot tamale. Is he single?
His playing has matured a lot since this recording. I would not judge him too harshly.
i couldnt help to notice... at 03:35, his shoes are so incredibly shiny! oh yeah, it was a great performance too
Wow
It can if that is what the chord/scale calls for. Usually they fit in chords/scales.
@ElliotJohnNovak yup some one did say it, very low voice tho lol. wonde whi it was.theres more voices in the background.
@strapazgulp I'm sure they are there. Some are actually beyond the fretboard. It takes some searching and lots of practice - good luck!
perfect
absolutely perfect
@amnaki "I'm the Vampira..thirsty for rock 'n' roll...I'm doomed!!!"
Greatest guitar teacher ever. LOL!
