    If you have a great display just know that it's still great. In a lot of these CES demos they put content to make the tvs look unrealistically amazing. If you bought these panels and put on a blu ray it wouldn't look that drastically different then the TV you have now. Don't get caught up with the marketing. Don't get me wrong the new tvs are improvements, but they are not these gigantic leaps that the marketing will have you believe.

    A lot of people in the comments are starting to get FOMO, but you shouldn’t. If you bought an OLED or top end LED the last few years, then there’s no need to worry about upgrading already. Enjoy your sets and wait for next gen tech like QD-OLED etc to mature and come down in price in a few years before upgrading.

    • @irl-hdr4080

      @@_nick___ If you’re really worried and are within the return window, then you can always take it back and wait to see the new panels, but I doubt the performance of the C2 will be much better than the C1. It’ll probably similar to the improvement you’d see in a G1 vs a C1. Noticeable, but nothing revolutionary. You’d have to move up to the new G2 to see a significant difference, but you’ll also have to pay a lot more for it vs your C1.

    The Z9k is peeking my interest but I still feel it’s a missed opportunity not also offering it in 65 inches. A95 looks good too. Sony does need to revamp their prices though. If I’m paying that price I also want 4 hdmi2.1 inputs. Sorry but if LG can offer it for less then so can Sony if I am going to keep the panel for a few years.

    I have a question: because the new A80K will have the heatsink and will use the OLED panel that the current A90J is using. Would say it’s better to wait and buy a 77-inch A80K, instead of buying the current 65-inch A90J?

      Be patient. I waited over a year to get the Dolby Vision update on my A1E, but though it took much longer than expected they delivered on their promise. I would rather they take the time to get it right before releasing the update. They are probably trying to avoid another messy situation like they had with the 900H.

    • @CH-bn7qb
      @CH-bn7qb 3 года назад

      @@brucecarter6205 it’s not my patience that’s running out it’s the sheer lack of communication from Sony at this point. They still advertise these TVs with VRR which simply isn’t the case once the A90J was getting released they said VRR would be spring 2021 that quickly changed to end of winter 2021 that deadline has been and gone and not a peep from Sony about what is the hold up ? Can they implement it properly or can’t they ? Don’t advertise on features that you simply can’t deliver fully on especially considering the price of these TVs. Giving these big companies a free pass to advertise whatever they like whether they deliver on it or not is not good for the end consumer like me and you in the long run.

    • @BrainwavezzAdviceTopicsLLC
      @BrainwavezzAdviceTopicsLLC 3 года назад

      I know people see this as an excuse, but it’s not in the world of business. Covid had wrecked all timelines. LG can deliver because it’s all in-house whereas Sony has to go through several outlets and certifications to make it happen. A lot of this isn’t even directly on Sony’s end, but I get it, it makes them look bad.

    • @CH-bn7qb
      @CH-bn7qb 3 года назад

      @@BrainwavezzAdviceTopicsLLC no I think you are probably 💯 correct in that is what has happened however. The lack of communication from Sony on missing a second deadline with people pretty much relying on rumours now on when it will come is not good enough that’s what I’m getting at wouldn’t take less than a day to say why it’s been missed what they’re waiting on and giving an honest timeline of when they will deliver it that’s what I’m so pissed about.

As per gaming it’s another strange topic due to the same company. Not sure how things aren’t aligned. For instance Samsung have smart things working together or Apple’s ecosystem. Looks like Mico LED may unseat OLED as a premium display, we'll have to wait and see some hands on reviews. I wonder though if 2k Nits will be too bright for long term eye health. I remember when flat panels arrived to replace CRT as being more comfortable for viewing. Looking forward to see how these panel wars will play out this year. I think Sony has a solid lineup this year! QD Oled, Mini Led, bringing back Backlight Master Drive. Definitely good stuff. That said, I am a X90J owner and just don't feel the need to worry about upgrade temptations this year. I do, however, feel this is a good look at the next few years of tech for the brand. So I could definitely see myself squeezing into a mini led or even micro led (if they eventually release the micro led panels to consumers) in the near future. All around good stuff though. Can't wait to see the performance reviews to determine how much of a step up this new tech is bringing to the table.

    The real battle to come is going to be between QD OLED and micro LED. Both are state of the art technologies and I believe the future of TVs. Once they become affordable they will make everything else obsolete, including WRGB OLED and full array LED. You're right that it will likely be at least a few years before that happens. Also, apparently burn in won't be an issue on QD OLED as it uses inorganic materials, so already that gives it more longevity.

    I have a theory with the timing and pricing of the X95J's in regards to the X95K. They delayed the X95J's so late in the year and priced them very high. My guess it to offset what's coming with the mini-led. They might come later in the year and will be priced a little more in comparison to the X95J so it won't seem so bad.

I feel ..like LG making a 42" OLED that can be used as a large computer monitor should be a wake-up call to the LED manufacturers, not only to get on the stick with this size but also have all inputs hdmi 2.1 and display port as standard equip. on the 42". I'm in the market for this right now and dont want to burn-in/burn-up an OLED, Even LG doesn't have display port though. Guess not as much an issue for most graphics cards have hdmi out now.

    You picked up on a lot of interesting things like the fact that the existing Sony LED TV models look thick and that will dissuade some owners. You're right, blooming remains an issue especially with subtitles, the expectation was that blooming would be a thing of the past. Also, the X95J and Z9J seem like they were released yesterday but now there are new models sporting significant technological changes which is surprising.
    I think the only logical explanation is that QD-OLED is substantially superior that Sony feels that it warranted a re-evaluation of its lineup. It looks like they are throwing the kitchen sink into LED TVs to see how they stack up against WRGB and QD-OLED TVs.
    Totally agree with you on Sony's promise of VRR. If you promise, you have to deliver it. At the same time, I think it's less important as you mentioned in today's world where games are pretty much locked to 30 or 60fps.

If a movie was mastered at 600 nits peak brightness then guess what your 3,000 nit TV will only show those 600 nits. If a movie was color graded with grayish blacks to set a mood in the movie guess what your OLED will display grayish blacks because that's how the movie was mastered. An LG C9 is no worse than an LG C1. No extra brightness, some "features" but those could have easily been put to C9 as well, but LG didn't because they want people to buy new stuff, not sit on old stuff. Hence why 2 years support.

  • @loki76
    @loki76 3 года назад

    So let the last years buyers of Master series have the "2 years" of having the Master series. So what about the other consumers that wanted to buy one this year and not buy something that was last years model? You do realize that would drive THIS years customers looking for the best into the arms of the competitor..
    How did you not think this one through?
    I decided not to get the 95J model because I suspected they would improve because they kind of had to. All other makers had MiniLED and so on.
    But I shouldn't be able to enjoy or buy the 95K with MiniLED because it would "upset" the 2021 95J buyers.. What???
    So AMD should let the 5950X CPU users (best of its time) just have an "extra year" of feeling they have the best and let Intel beat them and come out with something much better?
    So just stop innovating and offering something better because LAST years customers would get FOMO of next years products.
    This is how technology works, each year it improves. TV makers have a cadence of yearly release. GPU makers usually a 2 year cadence. Car makers also yearly.
    The Master Series Z9J isn't going to get up and walk away from the people that bought it last year. So they can enjoy what they bought and upgrade a few years later and be on the newer bleeding edge again. This is how it works.
    Sony just calls their top flagships "Master series" in technology like LED and OLED.
    Your argument doesn't make any sense at all.

      @@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY They have to make the change this year. Think logically. They should skip 8K LED TV? Or keep Z9J in a climate where TCL a budget brand comes out with a X9 $9,000 OD Zero that is far more "special" than Z9J..
      The problem that happened with the LED this time was no MiniLED last year. Maybe they weren't ready, maybe they wanted an extra year of tweaking.
      The only complaint you could have is that they released the Z9J and called it Master series. Because there is really nothing 'Master series" about it..
      It's no more Special than Z8H. It has 300 zones, Z9D had 800, even the Z9G which had less zones at least in "name" had the Master back light drive.
      Tech moves fast with the MiniLED now.
      They had to do something. Which is why you see the 95K has MiniLED.
      So their choice is to release exact same TVs as last year with FALD. The 95K would be worthless.
      So what if they just did MiniLED on 95K and kept Z9J as FALD and 300 Zones..
      See the problem there?
      That 10,000 dollar Z9J bested by their 95K..
      They HAD to do this. They were already treading water with 95J and Z9J when others moved on to MiniLED etc.
      A90J is carried over because there is no advancements in W-OLED. But QD-OLED is brand new and bleeding edge.

  • @loki76
    @loki76 3 года назад

    The reason why someone buys a "master series" is because they can AFFORD it. If you really can't and struggle and have to save up extra etc etc. Then you shouldn't buy a master series.
    I can't afford it, I am not going to save an extra year or two and then demand that "I now bought this TV I really am not the target audience for because I am not Rich, so I demand that no new Master series is released, so I and ONLY I can enjoy feeling that I didn't waste my money on something I really shouldn't have bought"..
    Why should Sony or anyone hold back and let rivals release something better and steal THIS years customers, so Sony can please the people that bought last years model?
    I really can't wrap my head around your reasoning here. That is like telling Ferrari, you cannot come out with "something better" next year because I just bought your "Enzo" for a lot of money..
    Let the 2022 buyers go and buy a Lamborghini instead so I can feel special having spent money on something.
    If you want that. You buy one of a kind piece of art. Not NFT art BTW, lol...

      @@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY So what if they came out with the Z9K just as it is and didn't call it master series. Or are you actually saying they shouldn't advance in the technology when all other brands have. So Sony shouldn't release a new Z9K but have the same Z9J and the 95K should be the same 2 year in a row FALD when Samsung and even budget brands have MiniLED.. Of course not. So then the 95K would have MiniLED and with that of course more dimming zones. Even if only 200 zones. That 95K with miniled at 200 Zones would make the Z9J look, well let's just say NOT like a master series.
      So Sony's choice this year is to have both Z9K and X95K be nothing but 2021 TVs with ZERO advancements. All of this just to PREVIOUS buyers can feel "special" having spent money on a product for TEN THOUSAND dollars. If you can't afford to drop that money like yesterdays news and you need to feel special for an "extra year", then you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. Those "enthusiast" TVs are for people that have the money. The "Whales". So if you save extra long and then decide to get it. It's your choice and you should be aware that next year something better might or rather SHOULD be on offer. It's technology, not buying a piece of art.
      Also like I said, what about us that want to buy something this year. I should just wait another year, or maybe I would be force to go with Samsung and hence ALL the buyers of 2022 would be lost to Sony..
      How do you not see that this doesn't make sense. You're hung up about them calling it "master series" and making it seem special.
      So the Z9K could be out and they just call it "Our 8K model with MiniLED and Master drive".
      Are you not aware that Sony has competition? I want a new TV, so my choice is 95K or Samsung QN90B. If Sony released the same more or less 95J again but with a "K", and Samsung has something more advanced. Why would I buy last years model.
      This of course apply the same to master series.
      Samsung 900B 8K model and TCL and their OD Zero $9,0000 85" MiniLED would stand there against a Z9J with 300 FALD dimming zones..
      But Sony shouldn't advance in tech every two years because of customers feeling "special" for an extra year..
      You can't apply that to technology and in a space of competition.
      The other years were like that because of ZERO advancement. A Z9J is shit in comparison to a 5 year old Z9D with 800 Zones.
      I just don't agree with you and I don't see how you would even think that Sony would care about their "customers' by ignoring NEW buyers in favor of old buyers and also ignoring competition.
      All because of a moniker.

    This video should serve as a PSA for anyone planning on buying a new TV. Buy a TV with features that it has out of the box versus what features are "planned" for with a firmware update. The VRR implementation on the X900H is horrible, and 4K 120 support isn't good either. Hopefully Sony is able to figure out HDMI 2.1 features with future releases. With that being said, I'm excited to see the X95K and A95K. I won't be buying either as I'm content with LG C1 77".
