    I'd still say you should always be cautious when using "gray market" keys. When I built my PC back in 2014, I bought a Windows 8.1 CD Key from g2a, then almost a year later, I had to buy a new key. I didn't want to deal with possibly getting another bad key, so I took a picture of my sister's college acceptance letter to get the student discount from Microsoft for 8.1 pro.

      Hardly exactly the same. For the price of lunch you don't have to worry about updates wiping your activation out, and you don't have to worry about malware hiding in whatever method you use. I'd much rather pay the $12 and not have to bother with all the bs.

    • @pranayjadhav3242
      @pranayjadhav3242 6 лет назад +7

      Exactly, now $0 is cheaper than $20, but there are many people out there who don't wanna do piracy but have no choice. This might help.

      No it doesn't at all. Microsoft Toolkit 2.5.3 and upwards activates Windows 10 with less effort than this method. Plus, it's free and is using a genuine installation.
      Windows ALWAYS updates as usual and even if (not that it ever happens) your activation gets revoked, you literally only have press "Activate" within Microsoft Toolkit again.
      You do need a key, though. For that, simply google "Windows 10 key". Yeah, that will work. It does not a full license, basically any key will work. Even one that's in use already. It doesn't matter.

    • @mjc0961
      @mjc0961 6 лет назад +4

      This is piracy that you pay somebody money for. If you're going to get into piracy, you might as well do it properly and pay nothing rather than pay a shady gray market reseller for a pirated key. Zwenk Wiel put it perfectly: you're paying a fence to pirate it for you instead of pirating it yourself. Which, by the way, means you have exactly the same risk of updates wiping out your activation as if you had pirated it yourself. Should've spent that $12 on lunch instead.

    Bought a couple off playasia a couple years back to get my keys valid, worked absolutely fine. I was a bit sceptical, but they are a very reputable site so gave it a whirl and was glad I did. As I understand it, a lot of these keys come from prebuilt machines that end up activated on a corporate or educational campus key, leaving the on-sticker key useless.

    If SCDKey gets its keys from the same place as similar sites do, then they come from decommissioned PCs in Europe. Microsoft doesn't want you using those keys on other computers, but EU law says you CAN resell them, as long as the "donating" PC is no longer in use. This means those keys HAVE been used before, and you may need to make a phone call to Microsoft to get them to work. I have done this with keys purchased from similar sites. You usually don't have to talk to an actual person during that phone call, but if you do you just need to tell them the key is being used on a new PC that you just built or re-built. It's similar to what you sometimes have to do when you upgrade your motherboard and processor--since MS looks at that as an entirely new PC.
    There are a couple of things that you do need to be aware of:
    First, if you end up with an OEM key MS may not have to honor it. They were supposed to be sold with hardware only and I don't know what EU law has to say about that.
    Second, it's still breaking the EULA, and even though EU law says those keys can be resold, US law does not. That means if you're in the US and MS decides not to allow the key there's nothing you can do. I have never had this happen, but there's a chance.

    • @gaunterodimm3606
      @gaunterodimm3606 6 лет назад +5

      You are mostly right. The bulk of the keys are bulk purchased, recyclers can't satisfy the market. Most of the ones I have installed are fresh OEM or volume licenses from bulk purchase and activate easily. You are correct that it breaks the EULA but Microsoft couldn't care less because they want market share and more people to data mine with Windows 10.

    • @Zimmsters
      @Zimmsters 6 лет назад +2

      You do not need to call anyone. The licences are already deactivated, and no longer linked to the previous hardware they were used on. A simple click on the ACTIVATION button will suffice to enable your licence on your new hardware indefinately. Yes there are alot of scammers selling pirated licences, but if you buy from reputed sources you will be ok

    • @OwMyLiver
      @OwMyLiver 6 лет назад

      Marius Munteanu I've had to call twice using these keys. It always works after that, but regular activation would not work because MS knows they've been used before on different hardware.

  • @AdelAlqadi1
    @AdelAlqadi1 6 лет назад +72

    The reason that these are so cheap are because they are OEM keys. This means that they won't work on multiple systems and that you can't transfer it to a new system when building a new computer (or at least you can't easily without Microsoft's help). In addition, you can't activate an already installed Windows with these keys (or again, not easily without Microsoft's help). You'd have to do a fresh install.
    Not bashing on the video or steering people away, but these are some things people should know before buying.

      Adel ᅠ i used on multiple system using 1 key over 15 install for different friends. The 16th got me black listed but once its install and activated all the previous key still genuine. Only when i install it for future set up it wont work anymore. But under $10 who cares

    • @huyquoctran2088
      @huyquoctran2088 5 лет назад +2

      edups just dont talk to a real life person representative. Talk to the computer operator. Usually when you install one oem key to one pc it wont work on the next. Just call the computer operator. Give them the activation code they give you a 20 digit code to reactivate it. Not sure if its 20 code or not but i been doing it since 5 years ago to this date. I think either by now or from now on calling the computer operator wont work anymore but that was the loop hole when i did window xp. Window 7 and window 8. One oem key using 5 different pc.

    • @sakul7026
      @sakul7026 5 лет назад +2

      Actually, you are wrong, you can activate Windows without a problem. I know this from experience. I build a new PC a few month ago and installed Windows without a key. The watermark on the screen got annoying after some time, so I bought a key from G2A, activated Windows with it and I was done. No trouble whatsoever

    • @HCkev
      @HCkev 5 лет назад +1

      Right from the beginning, OEM Windows Keys requires, by the ToS, that you put the Certificate of Authenticity sticker on the computer. Except on websites like that, you just get a key, you don't get the CoA. So you're paying for a Windows license key that might working, but you're not even allowed to use it by the ToS. You might as well save money and pirate it at this point (not that I condone piracy, it's just not that much different, in both cases, you're using a Windows version you're not allowed to use). And whether you can build your own PC and be allowed to use an OEM key is already a grey area by itself, since Microsoft always been pretty vague about it.

      I give less than 0 fucks about all this bullshit but just for shits and giggles 1. I have a legit (call it semi legit if you please) copy of windows for 12 fucking dollars and have never/will never need to call microsoft for jack shit. 2. you CAN use it to activate an already installed windows. and 3. for 12 dollars I never expected it to work for multiple systems and will gladly pay 12 more dollars yearssss down the road when I decide to build another new pc. for now, I'll take that $100+ I saved and throw it towards an SSD or something :)

    So, let me get this straight: you get sponsored by this company, tell them you’re buying a Win10 key from them, and that you're going to be publishing the results on RUclips. Don’t you think they’ll make sure _you_ get a genuine key, even if it’s the only one they have? What assurances are there that Joe Blow the ordinary non-RUclipsr is going to get the same treatment? You should have signed in under a fake identity and seen if the key you got that time was also genuine.

So it's okay for me to get new stuff for the new build. +Rob Leonard This used to be true, but nowadays it's much easier. Yeah, a little bit of knowledge is required, but you are getting huge benefits in return if you want a workstation or to revive an old PC. Gaming will get better and better if more people use the platform. The drivers are mature enough(both for nVidia and AMD). You don't need to compile a single thing if you are using a normal distro. But you need to learn a new environment. This is what is frustrating for most, they grew with Windows and they are so used to it that they are willing to put with spyware and ads. Practicality > Commodity.

    $12 key is OEM version!
    OEM Versions of Windows 10 are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:
    - OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel
    - OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on
    - OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard
    - OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system

    This is certainly an interesting service. I don’t need a Windows10 key right now, plus there’s one on the back of my refurb ThinkPad which should allow me to use a Home key if I ever need it. But I’d be curious to see if they have older versions, like Server 2008. The mobile site didn’t work overly well for search so I’ll have to try it out later to see what options they have.

  • @crizzbizz3211
    @crizzbizz3211 6 лет назад +8

    I've used Keys like this from Kinguin for 5 builds a d they work every time. ALTHOUGH, I would be take this one step further after activation. Yes, it's a pain in the A!# but create a Microsoft account and link your account to your activation key.
    Reason I say this is, I bought a key similar to this one, from Kinguin. Worked fine, but the PC I was working in ran into problems so I had to reinstall windows. I used the same key and it didn't work. After trying multiple ways to reactivate the key using Microsoft phone service I called and spoke to someone. They said the key had already been used more than the alloted number of times on multiple systems.
    So my best guess with is, these keys sold on sites like these are sold multiple times. Yes your purchase may be guaranteed, but take the extra step.

    The reason for price difference is the licensing. This one, most probably is an OEM license. I’ve bought two of them and both work. With OEM license you cannot change your motherboard (or sometimes even hard drive, I don’t remember exactly). With the standard license that comes with $200 version, you can use it on different PCs, but only one will remain active at a single time.
    PS: There’s also a more expensive 5 PC license.

    • @OldBuford
      @OldBuford 6 лет назад

      Mil Man the way the new update stores activity in RAM appears to be the issue, I limit my page file to a fairly small amount to avoid slow memory issues (I only have 8gb ddr4 because it's so expensive right now and my APU uses about 2.9 of that at all times) the instability issues seem to be due to available RAM and possibly overclocks? I could try a factory reset I suppose and hope that fixes it, i try to avoid too many read/write operations because I have an expensive m.2 ssd

    • @aonduine7473
      @aonduine7473 6 лет назад +2

      @Zap, SSD's have a finite but very large pool of write cycles available, there really is no need to limit your read/write cycles to preserve them honestly. with 8gb ram installed with an apu pulling 2.9gb at all times I can about guarantee your issue is with the ram being limited to a lil over 5gb instead of the full 8gb, I'd really suggest biting the bullet and getting a 16gb kit and calling it a day.
      My OS SSD is a sata 3 6gb/s and has an estimated 5 years left of life and I bought it 4 years ago, my very first SSD from 2011 still has over 95% health left as well.
      I upgraded to the windows 1803 build a couple days ago and I have had zero issues with it, it has actually increased my system's responsiveness in some cases.
      Specs:
      Ryzen 5 1600X OC'd to 3.9ghz
      Gigabyte A-B350-Gaming 3 motherboard
      16gb G-Skill Aegis DDR4 3000
      Asus R9 270X 4gb GPU OC'd from 1120/1400 to 1180/1480 (its basically a factory overclocked, rebranded radeon HD7870)

    Ok so what these keys are, they are usually one of 2 things: They can either be cracked, aka they did the pirating for you and now youre paying for illegitimate software OR they are something called a KMS key which are sold for corporations and such for cheaper when they buy them in bulk, BUT they need a Key Management Server (which is not hosted by microsoft like OEM keys are) so you run the risk of that KMS going down and suddenly your key can't validate itself anymore.

    pretty normal price over here in the EU. We have an rule established by the EU that OEM versions of Operating systems and other software are not allowed to be hardware locked. additionally Companies have to allow people that they can resell their OEM licenses if they want to. So you have a large supply with perfectly legal OEM keys for large variaty of (normally very expensive) software, including Windows, Bluray-Software and Burning suits.

    Ok, it works... But why so cheap...
    Did the codes fall from a truck or something?

      Well, apparently they take used keys from old OEM machines, and claim to 'repurpose' them.

      25baam I don't buy the recycled laptops story because there are not enough of those to satisfy the market, though keys like this are bulk purchased legally from Microsoft and are either OEM or volume licenses. I have installed some that are over two years old and still working great.

      A windows 7 pro key, will work on windows 10 pro install. Same with all the other editions. windows 7 came out in 2009, I'd say it's more plausible then you think.
