I personally believe a different theory: That actually the Dragon Lord Torch is not the strongest of the Dragons. Clearly the Torch is not very old, in fact he seemed quite young and massive even for Dragon standards. I believe that the Dragon Lord actually answers to far older and wiser Dragons, probably a council of previous Dragon Lords who after overcoming the shortcomings of their own nature gained powers beyond their normal power, a Dragon equivalent for the Alicorn. I believe that the Title of Dragon Lord is akin more of a war chief or Shogun than rather the full control of all Dragon life. Torch may have been allowed to do as he pleased as long as he obeyed a parameter established by the council of Dragons, which probably would have a hard time ruling over Dragons since their more civilized ways would contrast with a normal Dragon desire for power and money. Thus they rule in the shadows with only the Dragon that matters the most for them knowing of their power and might and hopefully guide every new Dragon Lord to become like them. Maybe that's why also the title must be given up every now and then.
In fact you are correct, though there is one such dragon and Alicorns are immortal being capable to change they age so you see.. Spike even affected choice of new dragon lord, that is Ember and it is most likely not the first time when he did that. After all he is Scopran assistant.

I LOVE THIS VIDEO! There is one issue though, Spike's parents... I think he was abandon, he is a wingless and I think there was a way for dragons could tell. Saddly in real life when some parents find out their child is a natural born cripple (in some form or manner) they'll leave their kids so who's to say a dragon didn't do that? welp... meh.

It's possible that Spike's parents and siblings were somehow killed but Celestia managed to save Spike, and out of gratitude (plus due to seeing her grief over their deaths) Dragon Lord Torch allowed her to adopt Spike.
I guess it could explain why Spike is the only dragon without wings (as I recall at least. Didn't check again to confirm) and why he fell in love with Rarity!

I bought the book "the journal of the two sisters" and on page 94 to 104 they mention Celestia and Luna confronting a dragon in the Crystal empire that stole the Crystal heart in the era of Princess Amore {which is actually cadence's mom}. that very dragon which they briefly met could be the dragon youre talking bout. just saying....

Spike was part of generations 1,3 and 4. As for generation 2 no one talks about generation 2. I actually have a theory that most of the ponies that take center stage and My Little Pony if not all of them are simply red carnations a previous ponies. There must be more baby dragons around in Equestria. Think about how the egg was given to Twilight as part of an entrance exam complete with some kind of diagram and I assume wellknown magic spell for the purpose she had to master.

Evil counterpart of those are Wendigo.
Um one I think the only way dragon lode torch would l listen to a another was if it was a sibling who might have fallen in love with the pony and ask for hem to make it so no dragon would harm the specie that he/she came to love.🐉😁
