This was the kind of game i expected when i first saw Phantom Hourglass on the shelf, so good job on that part! Looks very cool but also kinda cursed ngl. haha Needless to say i was confused when i booted up the game for the very first time and found out what kind of game it really was. (Tbf the screenshots on the back cover didn't exactly communicate that part well to my younger self) At the beginning i was disappointed because i expected a game like Wind Waker but on the DS like shown here, however at the end of the day it still turned out to be one of my favourite handheld Zelda games ever right next to Spirit Tracks despite the controls & gimmicks. This also shows just how advanced the engine for these games truly was and how possible a proper 3D game could've been on there, it's only missing ledge climbing from what i can tell, but other than that everything needed for a 3D Zelda is here and accounted for. Though it could do without the touch screen controls because i can't imagine anyone wanting to control a proper 3D game with just the stylus. (and maybe the d-pad for camera controls)
this man is on a path to port outset island to every zelda game bro lol, now i'm just waiting for the botw/totk port or the skyward sword port lol. i can't wait to see it happen!
This just proves why I love 2D Zelda games so much! They truly do have the best artstyles in my opinion. PH/ST's especially! The DS Zelda artstyle looks so good in 3D! I can only image what ALBW's artstyle would look like given a similar treatment. That would be amazing! Especially given that the game is my all time favorite 2D Zelda and the game's prequel, ALttP is what introduced me to the series when I was a kid. The Downfall Timeline style is basically what Zelda is to me. Downfall Timeline, Adult Timeline, and Pre-Split Timeline all have the best artstyles in my opinion. Those three timelines have such timeless artstyles, it's insane! I love TP's style too, but the heavy realistic look approach of that game didn't really age well unfortunately. And OoT's artstyle is just barely hanging by a thread as the style had potential that could've shined on a later platform like Gamecube, but was ruined by the N64's limitations in my opinion. And OoT is actually one of my personal favorites too. I just really think they should've stuck with the art direction they had going for Zelda 64 before it became OoT and reserved ideas for OoT (it's artstyle especially) for Gamecube, Wii, Wii U, or even Switch. Anyways, this mod looks amazing!
considering there were games like Metroid Prime Hunters looking visually great for the DS at the time, this is definitely believable for a DS port of WW! great job!
This is really something to behold, even for a fan-made demo! Really great stuff! Phantom Hourglass was my first video game on a gaming console, so this really takes me back in an odd way.
Hopfully this mean the "DS Zelda romhack" Ive always dreamed of might happen! Ive been wanting it for an EXTREMELY LONG TIME, ever since I knew what romhacking was. Basically, when I was 9.
I’d like to see it running on actual hardware, not convinced DS would be capable of it. This footage is at a far higher resolution than DS outputs, it has subpixel correction (which DS lacks), etc etc
The ds runs phantom hourglass just fine and this is just a mod of that game, this camera angle is used in some sections in phantom hourglass and phantom houtglass uses the same physics engine as wind waker so this should all work fine
I'd really like it if this mod was released, I know it wouldn´t be all that functional, but it would be really cool walking around outset island on the DS!
Would this be on Phantom Hourglass engine or Spirit Tracks's? I mean, both are the same, but Spirit Tracks's Is meant to be more polished (I think?), but that feature at 3:02, jumping on that stick, If not wrong Is only Phantom Hourglass exclusive? :o [Also, Is Link being controlled with a stylus or with a circle pad?
