  • I wanted this pick up system or similar on my Martin M36 as I didn't want to drill into it or fix a battery. It sound very natural top me with no piezo quack.
    The sensors are glued down under the bridge. Costs about £45 and cost me £30 to fit but you could do it yourself,there are installation videos on youtube.

    I know this video is 3 years old, but I am just seeing this now. I was just about to purchase a K&K pure mini pick up system, and saw this review. So I just ordered the JourneyTek EP001K, and am so looking forward to installing it on my 30 year old guitar. I have the K&K pure mini aready installed on my Martin Road Series, and I truly love the sound, but it is over 3 times the price of the EP001K, and from the customer reviews I've read on Amazon etc, the JourneyTek does as good a job bringing out the natural sound of the guitar as K&K pure mini does so, it'll be interesting to compare in my studio if that holds true. Thanks for sharing the video. Cheers from Canada.

      I also fitted one to my Martin 0018M and it sounds great. More natural than piezo quack that I hate.

    I put a set of these in a 1982 Yamaha FG 335 and it sounds BETTER than my Takamine LTD 99! Can't recommend enough!

      Awesome Gary, they really are so much better than sound hole pickups and piezo's. My M36 still sounds great and recently I bought a TC Electronics BodyRes pedal and it sounds even more awesome with a little of that switched in.

    Very nice. I may add the volume control just so I can turn it down to set down guitar without fear of feedback, but so far, so good. Thanks for sharing.

      I use the "Spark" boost pedal for clean boost. Try a feedback buster in soundhole if a problem.

      I use a floor tuner to mute when not playing.

    Wow, I didn't know that they made anything like anymore... it similar to the Barcus Berry pickup I put in my 1975 Ovation... no battery... Thanks for Sharing...

    JJB Prestige 330 vs Journeytek EP001K
    Which one should I go?

      @maxmilligan8734  6 месяцев назад

      Hi, I'm not familiar with the JJB Prestige 330. I think if you gig a lot you want something road worthy that's why I play Maton guitars live. Journeytek is great for guitars you don't want to butcher and just do the odd gig and home recording without the piezo quack.

    Hi,may I know where you place all the transducer?is it like what they recommend?I install this pickup in my guitar but it sounds so thin unlike yours sounds very good

    • @maxmilligan8734

      Mine are placed as the instructions. You need to make sure you get a good contact for the transducers, so my luthier suggested sanding the surface a little before placement. Both of my guitars that they are fitted to have good bass response. If you can try a clean boost pedal like "Spark" or cheap EQ pedal that might help. I hope this helps.

    Does this system resist feedback on a noisy stage?

    • @maxmilligan8734
      @maxmilligan8734  3 года назад

      There is no mic involved so it certainly holds up well for on stage but I always use a fedback buster on my stage guitars. There are no controls in the sound hole so this pick system works great. You could put a boost pedal inline with the amp ( Spark or MXR Micro amp) for solos and a tuner for great simple set up.

      @@maxmilligan8734 Thanks for answering! If the transducers are installed away from the bridge, would a more natural sound be obtained? moving them away from the strings and placing them on the harmonic top would improve the tone?

    • @maxmilligan8734
      @maxmilligan8734  3 года назад +1

      @@verboproductora3225 check out the online installation videos. The sound is very natural as it is. The sound board would vibrate more and may cause the transducers to fall off eventually so not something I would do. I record with a mic and plugged in and the two sounds are really similar. Way better than under saddle sound.
