    I generally play a 7 in drop-A and this beast doesn't disappoint. Takes external boosts super well too. As others have mentioned the DrDrive is fantastic. Was also able to get a very convincing Marshall DSL style tone with more common tunings and a SD-1 pushing it.
    Great walkthrough. :D

      Thanks so much for checking it out! Yeah I’ve been hooked on the amp and Bass VI combo lately. Most reviews, other than Gary’s were more “regular” tuning review so I figured I’d show what this could do in Drop A0
      In the final mix I used Putney Tonality’s Pedal just for the gain pedal and then Otto into Mikko2 for a cab IR

    It’s a tie for Mix Wave Mike Stringer and II II II II for low tuned guitars for me. There is a bit more in the way of FX and less on amp shaping for Mike’s plugin but it has Auto volume leveling, pre and post EQ, speaker contouring and pre and post compression with FX. Both are phenomenal and MWMS is ever so slightly more versatile but II II II II has just ever so slightly more shaping capabilities.

    just downloaded the free trial. I am using a 7 string with 80 gauge for the lowest string, 26.5 inch scale. the guitar is tuned to G standard/drop F.
    I'm comparing this amp to Archetype Gojira, and so far I am liking Otto audio a lot. Gojira sounds a bit overprocessed and noisy and has some artifacts when I am using a -3 semitone pitch shifter to get into drop E range. Otto is sounding much tighter and clearer to me so far. I do like Gojira cause it has built in fx, but those are easily replaced with stock or free plugins.
    do you think the otto amp would work for bass tones as well? What I've noticed in my mixes is that the guitar tone doesn't matter that much to me as long as the double tracked performances are tight and well played, but the bass tone matters a whole lot and changes the whole characteristic of the riff. I haven't been able to find any good bass amp/cab sims that sound how I want with my 5 string bass. do you have an recommendations? or hopefully I can just use this amp sim for both? Great video by the way, very informative!

    • @BrendonKPadjasek
      @BrendonKPadjasek  7 месяцев назад +1

      That's awesome to hear. And the best part about all these plug ins, as Keyan stated in a video, you can just use the pedals from gojira, mute the amp and cab, then run that signal into the Otto Audio.
      In the final mix for mine I went:
      Will Putney Tonailty for the Pedal
      Otto Audio for the amp itself
      Mikko2 for the cab IR so I could dial it in myself.
      For bass my chain lately has been:
      Neural DSP Darkglass with the cab off, running into
      ML Sound Labs Amped Bass
      And more times than not, splitting the bass chain into sub, and grit tracks

    • @BrendonKPadjasek

      Exactly! I keep the bass within the same octave. I've noticed, through trial and error, once the bass reaches a certain low octave, it stops adding to the sound and starts taking away and adding mud. When we recorded Northlane's "Alien" I recorded almost all the bass parts in the same octave as Jon's guitars

    Can you explain impedance curves and power amps and stuff? Also, a lot of peeps eq the guitar before the amp, do you do this at all?

    • @BrendonKPadjasek
      @BrendonKPadjasek  7 месяцев назад

      To be honest I'm not sure sure. With Impedance I only ever hear about it when it comes to Speakers and Ohms, so I'm assuming it has to do with that but hopefully Reid can jump in on this and explain the Impedance and Power Amp Section better. I personally just throw a gain pedal on as my EQ and sometimes compress going into the amp. The gain pedals just clean up some of the excessive low end from guitars, and some Gain pedals have eq sections as well. Otherwise I use the Tone to choose how much low end I want to cut/ boost. That's usually enough for me

    • @OTTOAUDIO
      @OTTOAUDIO 7 месяцев назад +2

      Impedance curves are a result of what happens when an amp is loaded down with a real cab. Power amp is what drives the distorted sound in volume and some texture. Amps are always two parts, 1. preamp (most of the gain/harmonic distortion) and 2. power amp (volume of the preamp distorted signal going into cabs and squish/firmness/feel)
      That character, sound, feel and performance is what you are enabled to shape.

    Love this amp. Don't get me wrong. It's good to have tones ready to go in one place... BUT you can get these tones with the amp sims you already have.
    Make 4 tracks in your daw. Make 2 left and right and the other 2 left and right
    Load your amp in all 4,
    On the first 2, make your settings high mids, High Treble, High Prescence. Lower everything else like bass and depth.
    On the second pair of tracks, do the opposite
    Crank the bass, knob and the depth knob, and lower the rest
    You can even go as far as make Your EQs opposites keep the lows on the low tones and the mids to 8k on the high tones.
    You can do this with bass guitar, too, but make the lows clean.
    Your welcome
