I'm glad you made this video, Steph! It's pretty important (and fun) for everyone to practice rescue strategies. I practiced self-rescue in my Oru Inlet, by myself, at a quiet beach. I purposely sank my kayak in shallow water. My Oru has 2 float bags and even though the boat was completely submerged under water, it did not actually sink to the bottom of the lake...good to know. I managed to empty about 60% of the water from the boat but wasn't successful in doing a self-rescue (even with a paddle float). Next strategy... I grabbed the tow rope attached to my kayak and proceeded to tow the boat back to shore, swimming on my back using my paddles for propulsion. It worked. If you get tired, take a break, it was actually fun. Disclaimer: I am from WI, luckily we don't have gators.

Ooo woozer -- quite an effort! I might end up having to swim and tow my boat to land, but you gals did GREAT!
